Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

Killjoy warning!

I can’t let it go by without saying my usual something about plastics and food.

Whatever you think about how much potentially harmful “microplastic” leaches into food or not, it is a known phenomena and it’s also known that the combination of heat and plastic next to food, especially fatty foods, greatly increases how much this occurs.

I realise folks may not ‘agree’ with this fact ;) or simply choose to use it anyway but I have to pipe up every now and then to voice my medical objection against using plastics, especially in combination with heat, in the preparation of our cannabis medicine. I don’t do it. It’s a bit painful to watch

But how will I get my daily intake of microplastics now???;)

I don't know who these researchers were since I didn't bother to read the article. It was the first Google hit so it has to be true!!!!

In a nutshell it said this.....

People across the world unwittingly consume roughly 5 grams of plastic each week in the course of daily life, or about the weight of a credit card, according to Australian researchers. That's about 250 grams per year—more than a half-pound of plastic every 12 months.

Holy smokes!

It’s in there next to all the spiders we swallow in our sleep (especially in Australia)

Awareness about this has only come to me about 6years ago, when a horrified naturopath/herbalist admonished me for heating my lunch in the Tupperware container in the microwave. I remember her fully telling me off and me being like, “so, okay... I didn’t know... so, now I do so, thank you - I think” :laughtwo: I try not be like that, telling people off etc. you know? Cause it’s a long time before information like this is widely accepted. Finding an article like that on WebMD is a sign that it is getting out there more. 3 years ago I struggled to find references to it beyond journals or books. Sometimes information is fast, and sometimes it’s slow. Generally speaking, it seems to me that when the information is about some regular everyday product actually damaging people‘s health over time, but that some massive industry completely relies on, that information tends to be very slow in coming out. :hmmmm:

Funny- that's almost exactly what I told @Heavenly Hybrid about a year and a half ago- she grew this beautiful quadlined plant, and when I saw it, I thought "OMG! that's just the best plant ever!"
So that's how I've grown my indoor plants ever since...
If you haven't already, you should check out her journal- She's a very nice lady, and she really knows her stuff!
Omg carcass!! (sniff) Sorry, I’m so late, but this is just about the sweetest thing anyone has said.

Funny enough, your beautiful quad is making me want to go back to it again! Whenever I end up dropping beans again, we be quaddin!!

Happy Tuesday!
Well ,the verdict is in on the pressure cooker decarbed bud- it worked just fine, but I maybe should have researched the effects of eating pot a little bit before I chowed down on way too much of it...
I ground up the 1.5 grams of decarbed pot, and put it in 5 capsules, so a little over a quarter gram in each cap. I ate 2 of them around 7:30pm Sunday, and nothing had happened by 11:30, so I just went to bed, thinking to myself "well, that didn't work"....
Anyway, I woke up at 2am and noticed that now I was a little stoned- thought to myself "well, that's a waste"... went back to sleep, and woke up at 8am- stoned to the lips, I mean seriously "I can hardly walk straight" stoned- definitely the most stoned I've ever been...I was supposed to go take care of some business
first thing in the am, but I didn't feel comfortable driving till around noon..., So it did work, but eating raw pot is a whole different experience than eating regular edibles- takes a long time to kick in (6 hours) and it lasts a loonnng time (9 hours is just too long)

So I ate half a gram, pretty sure half that much is my maximum dosage from now on, although I may not do that again....waaaay to unpredictable for me...

I can’t let it go by without saying my usual something about plastics and food.
Thank you, Amy- you're not alone- Mrs.C. also brought this up- she won't microwave anything in plastic containers either. To be honest, I didn't even think of that... I won't be doing the pressure cooker thing again- because of the plastic/chemical hazard, and because it's a pain compared to an oven decarb.

Seems like it'd be a little "scratchy" on the way out.... ;)
It’s in there next to all the spiders we swallow in our sleep
At least the spiders are organic:cheesygrinsmiley:
admonished me for heating my lunch in the Tupperware container in the microwave
Been there- Mrs C. is 100% on board with the plastic toxicity thing...
So that's why I shat a Lego brick last week
Ouch!!
my father stated this back in the 60's - he would not use plastic anything
Hi, billy - thanks for stopping in!- My parents refused to cook in aluminum pans (bad for the brain)
but they never worried about plastics...
Whenever I end up dropping beans again, we be quaddin!!
Looking forward to seeing another one (or 6) of your beautiful quads, HH!

I'll be back with an update on the SSH in a little while...

Oh no, poor carcass stoned off his ass first thing in the am. Bet that was a big surprise! I’m glad it was errands you could postpone. I haven’t tried eating just decarbed buds before, but I know VG has done it. Potent for sure. That’s when it’s good idea to grab some cbd and bring it back down to earth again. What a day!

I won't be doing the pressure cooker thing again- because of the plastic/chemical hazard, and because it's a pain compared to an oven decarb.
I went the pressure cooker route to decarb, placed the bud in a mason jar with the lid just snug, not tightened down at all. Filled the pressure cooker with water until the jar just started to float, but kept upright. Eliminates any plastic contaminates!

It was pretty darn funny- MrsC. just looked at my eyes and said "how the hell are you already stoned?":lot-o-toke:I did have a bunch of cbd for breakfeast, but I was too far gone for it to do much.

placed the bud in a mason jar with the lid just snug,
That's a good idea - I thought about it, but I wasn't sure if the jars would explode in there or not- never thought of leaving the cap a little loose!

Pls send her a :high-five: from me
I will do that, Amy- she would have said something to me earlier, but she didn't know what I was doing with the pressure cooker until after I did it...

Did you eat it? Or oil drop it under the tongue? Or smoke it?

My guess is that in an extreme circumstance like that you’d want to hit some straight CBD in a bong or a vape. Eating it wouldn’t do it.

I actually did all 3....It may of helped some-but I might have just been too stoned to tell...being that stoned wasn't actually unpleasant- it's just real weird waking up that way (and having it last almost 4 hours)

Update Time!

The SuperSilver Haze has been doing fine this week, the only change is that she's grown half
an inch or so, and gotten a little wider...34 days since the flip, 83 days old today...

The Saugaview®:

And a shot through the door- she fills that box pretty well now- she needs water soon- she's not drooping yet, but she will be by this afternoon
1611089095420.jpeg

And a budshot or 2- I think she's going to be a real frosty one by the end...

1611089252154.jpeg

This is a branch I broke almost all the way off about two weeks ago- immediately slapped some scotch tape on there to hold it back up, and it healed up just fine...It's about an inch behind the other branches now, so it slowed it down a little

Here's a silhouette shot

She's still a little too dark green, so I dropped her MegaCrop down another quarter gram, to 4.75g/gal

That's about all there is for today - this plant is going to be with us for awhile- she's supposed to flower for 10 or 11 weeks, so we'll have to see how that goes- she's actually only about 3 weeks in now...(I'm counting from first flowers, not the flip 34 days ago)

Thank You for looking!
I appreciate the support...:peace:

I hope you all have a great week, and continue to stay as safe as possible!

Your faux-auto is killing it!

Mine is day 28 post-flip and goes for 10 weeks. They should be ready about the same time! :Rasta:

Hot enough to decarb the weed-17 degrees hotter than an oven decarb, but hopefully not so hot that it ruins the weed
Hot enough for sure!
So after cooking for 15 minutes, I turned the flame off
But I have my doubts that it was a complete decarb regardless of how ridiculously stoned you got! I'm waiting for someone to lab test the results of high-pressure decarb.
the question now is did I cook them long enough? -I'll have an answer to that question this evening...
You definitely cooked them long enough to get blown away! But complete decarb is holy grail of heat/time.
I can’t let it go by without saying my usual something about plastics and food.

Thank you Amy! I no longer decarb in oven bags because of your wise words. Foil pouches FTW. :)

Indeed!
waaaay to unpredictable for me
This is why no one in my house wants edibles!
I won't be doing the pressure cooker thing again- because of the plastic/chemical hazard, and because it's a pain compared to an oven decarb.
Someone did a tutorial on Instant Pot decarb in oil (no smell, no plastic), but again, nothing has been tested. And Nova has shown that decarbing in oil is less efficient (though they didn't test at high pressure), due to the insulating effects of oil on the acid molecule on the THC.

Good idea DAB!

You should only grow faux-autos from now on! :thumb:

And I'm okay with that!
