Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

:ciao: Morning Carcass. Happy Saturday! I have a question for you about your gummy recipe if you don’t mind? I made a tincture in the MBM with Everclear 151 and a couple of ounces of Cindy. I would like to make some gummy’s with the tincture (which was run 4 times and is sticky AF :cheesygrinsmiley:) and I really like your recipe. Any suggestions on the amount to substitute between the oil and tincture? I’ve quoted the recipe below from Justin’s journal for your reference:
You'll need:
1 pkg sugar free jello mix (0.6 oz size)
1pkg regular (with sugar) jello mix (3 oz size)
2 packets plain gelatin
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup infused oil (1900mg CBD, 100mg THC)
Gummy molds
Spatula or similar
Whisk or large spoon
A glove for heat
A funnel
A container to squeeze the mixture into the molds (ketchup bottle or similar)
Silicon is awesome for all of the tools.
I was wondering if I could flip the water to 1/2 cup and then add 1/4 cup of tincture or do you think I can just follow the recipe as is using tincture? Thank you in advance for any suggestions. :thanks:

Good morning, Boo!
Everything I know about tinctures could be written on the head of a pin, so I may not be the best person to answer this question... I can say that I've used liqueur in my gummies (1/4 cup) and it worked fine- but it was only like 40 proof stuff....
The recipes I have seen for using tincture recommend reducing it to hash oil before adding to the gummy mix.
What I will say, is it seems to me that you could just add your tincture to the usual gummy mix as it's heating on the stove, and cook/heat the gummy mix a bit longer to reduce the alcohol out of it, leaving only hash oil in the mix, but be careful with alcohol and an open flame- (an elecrtic hot plate might be preferable for this)- I personally, would try the easy way first^ if it doesn't work so well, you could try the recipe below:

Here's an "official" recipe (from a popular weed website), I can't take any credit for it... (or blame, if it doesn't work... ) for making tincture gummies...

*The flavor extracts they mention are McCormick extracts used in cooking- comes in the little brown bottle- (I imagine you could skip this ingredient if the jello flavor does it for you)

From the website:

Ingredient List:
  • 3 ounces flavored gelatin (any flavor)
  • 2.5 envelopes (of ¼ ounce each) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/4 cup fruit juice (nothing with citrus)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • ½ teaspoon flavor extract
  • Gummy molds
  • 1 large bowl
  • 1 small bowl or container (for mixing liquids)
  • A large non-stick pan
  • One of these two cannabis extracts
    • Cannabis tincture: 1/4 -1/2cup made by any of the methods on this page, including the Magical Butter Machine method)
    • Hash Oil (recommended): Depends greatly on hash oil potency and viscosity. I would recommend starting with 7 drops of hash oil and eating more gummies as needed. If 7 drops is too many, use fewer drops in the next batch. You can also add more hash oil for stronger effects. For reference, I use 15 drops of oil when making a batch this size.
Directions:
  1. Empty the entire 3oz package of flavored gelatin into your large bowl.
  2. Pour 2.5 (1/4oz) envelopes of unflavored gelatin into the same large bowl and whisk the 2 gelatins until they blend.
  3. Combine the fruit juice and honey in the small bowl and mix them together.
  4. Pour the juice/honey mixture into the large bowl with the gelatin mixture and whisk the mixture until it’s thoroughly combined. Set the mixture aside for now.
  5. If you started with tincture:
    1. Place your non-stick pan on the stove. Add your tincture to the pan and cook tincture down (on low heat) until the tincture has the consistency of molasses or glue. This step evaporates most of the alcohol still left in the tincture and leaves you with hash oil.
    2. Add your flavor extract to the pan and keep cooking until the mixture has a glue-like consistency again.
  6. If you started with hash oil:
    1. Place your non-stick pan on the stove. Add your hash oil to the non-stick pan, and pour your flavor extract right on top of it.
  7. Pour the gelatin mixture into the non-stick pan with your flavor extract and hash oil, and mix everything together.
  8. Cook the combination over medium-low heat until the gelatin has completely dissolved (7-10 minutes).
    1. You can tell it’s done when you can’t see gelatin granules in the mixture.
  9. Carefully pour the finished mixture into a measuring cup with a pour spout.
  10. Pour the mixture into your molds, and refrigerate them for 1 hour.
  11. Once they’re set, the gummies can easily be removed from the molds and eaten.
That’s it! If you followed those steps, you now have a bunch of potent weed gummies waiting to be eaten!

I have to say- this procedure^^ seems unnecessarily complicated to me, but maybe tinctures are a whole different ball game than infused oil...

Best of luck with your gummies, Boo!
I hope I helped you, at least a little....

A science project!
That's how we learn!- I think they'll come out fine, Boo- As I understand it, tincture is stronger than oil, so they may knock you on your booty! (but that's what we're going for...:high-five:)

Speaking of gummies- I infused some fresh cbd oil yesterday, and made up a batch of gummies...They're lemon-lime flavor with a dash (100mg) of CBG isolate thrown in for good measure.. I got the lemon-lime idea from @BeezLuiz (1 package each of lemon and lime jello) and, as he said, they taste great!

I'll tell the kids they're the "healthy" version- Kale flavor...and see if they still want to taste them...

The lego molds are too special! :Rasta:

Lego  Brilliant.

I LOVE those Lego brick gummies!

Legos for the win! Great looking texture to them
Thanks, guys! They're Mrs.C's favorite too- she eats them 2 "dots" at a time, so 1 THC lego will last her all day...They weigh 7 grams, so there's a lot of medicine in each one....

Today is Nova's day... She's keeping us particularly busy now- she started walking a few days ago,
so we're pretty much chasing her around the house all day (she's fast for a little baby!)...And...the crazy windstorm last night and today also blew my backyard fence over, so I get to fix that once this storm moves on through....(soon, I hope!)
But I'll be back in here tomorrow for the usual Tuesday update, hope you're all having a great Monday!

I hope you enjoy your little whirlwind, Carcass! :Rasta:

Two tornadoes at once! Have fun cleaning up after both.
The little indoor one was easy  , the outdoor one is going to involve a trip or 2 to Home Depot!
I temporarily hoisted the fence back up, so it's not a priority- I'm gonna wait for warmer weather to fix it the right way-
she’s going to make sure grandpa carcass is in shape!!
I think we both got our 5000 steps in yesterday!
I hope you enjoy your little whirlwind,
She wore me out- It's hard for me to believe that I went through this 5 times with my own kids...what was I thinking??;)
Only gonna get faster!
So true- I'm pretty sure she was faster in the evening than when she got here in the morning...
or maybe I was just tired out by the end of the day...:hmmmm:
Great looking gummies.
Thanks, Amy- They taste really good, and there's no chance anyone will confuse them with the thc gummies (red)- I'll probably stick with that flavor for the cbd ones from now on...

And while I'm in here, I might as well make myself useful and do a

Tuesday Update on the Super Silver Haze...

This plant has got to be one of the easiest grows I've done- she just keeps chugging along- not getting much taller, but she is getting a bit fatter every day...

Here's the Saugaview®:
1611692084902.jpeg

She's 90 days old, flowering for 41...I'm sticking with the 4.75g/gal. of MegaCrop, probably from here on in- she seems pretty happy with that, and .3g/gal of Bud Explosion plus 4ml/gal of silica Blast- hard to tell from the pics, but she's a better green now- not quite as dark as a week ago.

She touches all 4 walls in the box now, so she's about as wide as she can get- the door to the box is
6 inches narrower than the box interior, so getting her in and out is a little bit tricky. but I haven't broken anything off- yet....

Her buds are a little fatter than last week,
1611692868418.jpeg

1611692920576.jpeg

I'm not sure how big they're going to get- the seed folks list her as a low to moderate yielder-
But they also say SSH can be difficult to grow, and that , so far, doesn't seem to be the case...

Here's a silhouette shot- you can sort of see why she's a pain to get through that little door...
1611693212711.jpeg

And that's about all there is to report on today...

Thanks for looking, I really appreciate the support!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Please stay safe out there!

And maybe say a get-well prayer for @BeezLuiz , A longtime member here who is battling covid19 as we speak:love:

Sweet plant carcass!
what was I thinking?
If you were doing the math and they followed in your footsteps, you would have been thinking 25 grandchildren. ;)
but I haven't broken anything off- yet
That's the spirit!
Her buds are a little fatter than last week,
Every day in every way, we're getting better and better!

The seed folks also said she was an auto, so there's that!
