20ga. solid core thermostat wire is what I use for the hook- strong enough to hold the branches down, but soft enough to make the hooks out of- each hook takes apx 10cm of wire- make them up once, and like I said earlier- they'll last for years...
Oh, and you'll also need some of them skewers...
You should make some up- takes about ten minutes to make 30 of them....the hooks do make it pretty easy to build a nice flat canopy...and it only pokes one hole in the soil, so there's less chance of damaging the roots...This is what I was looking for. Would've made organising my quadline a lot simpler.
