I got this bag today. Looks totally different than the others I've had and it has black flakes in it that dont dissolve and there aren't any of the little balls.
I should open my new bag and find out what I got.

Don't do it! It must be bad if everyone is craving the bum hole stench of the previous one.I should open my new bag and find out what I got.

To be honest there is only one thing which annoys me with version 2 and it isn't the musky helmet smell. Neither is it the fact that the little balls take some serious mixing especially in ice cold water. No. What annoys me most is how dusty it is. Its so dusty that I know what it tastes like lolSomeone here once called the smell sweet and nasty all at once. I think it describes it perfectly.
That’s one of the things I also experienced. Had to turn all fans off etc and could still taste the unique (metallic/poop) taste in the air. Girlfriend always knew when I was mixing it too lolTo be honest there is only one thing which annoys me with version 2 and it isn't the musky helmet smell. Thank heaven for little girls!I'm a child. Smh
That's the recipe I use too, except I add more oil to it....I make gummies to i use Preston's recipe.
Yes, it is salt based, but it's a different salt than, say, Miracle Grow or other chemical based nutes. At least that's how I understand it....(not so bad salt as opposed to bad salt?)It is definitely salt based. My fabric pots are caked in the stuff.
Hopefully, your plants won't notice the difference...I'll miss that good old butt smell
Be careful with additives- I proved that a little too much "Bud Explosion"(potassium) will burn up your plant in a very short time.(Northern Lights, last year)What would be a good substitute for this that is compatible with mega crop?
Brown and stinky, or white and not quite as stinky!I should open my new bag and find out what I got.
I do kind of wonder what GLN removed from it to get rid of our second favorite stink! (cannabis being the first favorite stink)everyone is craving the bum hole stench of the previous one.
My daughter in law sent us a pic of my son dealing with his first "diaper blowout" from little Nova...(yipes!)It can't be any worse than the offerings of the babies I've changed.
Thanks,BL,we're doing good ! How's your little Nova doing?(and the rest of the family,of course!)Hope you and your family are doing good!!!
Reminds me of a girlfriend I had 50 years agoonce called the smell sweet and nasty all at once.
Lots of iron in that stuff!..Its so dusty that I know what it tastes like lol
That's what I do, plus I toss in a few silica gel packets to keep it nice and dusty!I moved some into a canning jar
Mrs.C. says "Oh good, a new stink- is the pot smell in here not strong enough for ya?"Girlfriend always knew when I was mixing it too lol
How much more oil are you adding? That's the recipe I use too, except I add more oil to it....
Ok I will be making that way next time. I keep them in the freezer also.I add a half a cup, instead of a quarter cup- they're pretty strong!
At first I used grapeseed oil, and the gummies were pretty greasy...but since I switched to refined coconut oil
the greasiness went away for the most part- but they will get greasy if they get warmer than 78f.
I store mine in the freezer since It can get pretty warm in my house (no A/C) during this time of year.
Actually Shed or anyone else who runs a buffered media does not have to pH their nutes. It really has nothing to do with the type of nutes used. Buffering agents would be something like dolomite lime or humus. If your media, such as FFOF or Promix contains either of those then it's considered buffered. Hydro and passive hydro are always required to pH their nutes as there are no buffering agents in water or coco.I know @InTheShed hasn't pH'd his water for a long time, and his plants grow just fine(exceptionally well, in fact)...Something about Mega Crop being amino acid based nutrients as opposed to salt based.

Also good to review this LINK re: Salts, Aminos, etc. Mega Crop primarily consists of the same Salts that every other fertilizer is made of. Only difference is that some of the Micros (less than 7% of the product) are Amino Acid Chelated vs EDTA Chelated. Far to much credence has been given to those Aminos. They aren't magical. They do the same thing EDTA does except EDTA is considered a pollutant and is a banned substance in much of Europe. If you want to make a product that you can sell on a global scale, you don't use EDTA. Ever wonder why a lot of the fertilizers available in the States aren't available over seas? That's your answer.
@farside05 very nice write up in the link you provided. I am wondering if you would mind if I put a link to it in my journal giving you full credit of course. I starting a promix M/C grow not adjudting ph. Your write up explains what I am trying to describe in my journal but could never explain things aswell as you just did for me.
