Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

So very happy to hear your son hasn’t been ill!
Thanks,Candy!
This is the same son that was supposed to be getting married this coming weekend-which has been postponed indefinitely- so 2020 has pretty much been a shit show for him so far...
Kids...they think they're invincible but we know enough to worry!
A dirty job,but somebody's got to do it!
How are you and yours doing,Shed? a-ok I hope...

Not true. After a few hours the plant has received the pollen if its viable. I pollinated in my tent very carefully with fans off for three hours misted the hole space and turned everything back on. I ended harvesting my plants 31 days after pollination all buds pollinated produced viable seed with no stray seeds on any other buds.
Hello @shottafire , noob here. I've got a purple punch male and female along with a younger dos I dos in my first indoor coco grow. I'd like to finish the male and cross it later with one of my greenhouse Afghanis later this summer. If I place ripe male flower in a bag with rice and freeze it, could I wrap the bag around a fat Afghani bud and pollinate that 1 bud, branch?
Thanks so much ! :yummy: :ciao:

Sorry to hear about how the virus is affecting your family Carcass. I’m glad nobody is sick though.

something I’ve been doing when it comes to leaving the house, especially for grocery shopping, is to go as early as possible. The two times I’ve gone shopping in the last 3 weeks I was there at 6:30 when they opened their doors. It’s a ghost town, and most everything is in stock.

If I place ripe male flower in a bag with rice and freeze it,
Hey,Fred -I'm not @shottafire , but I have pollinated a couple of plants...
I'd just collect the pollen and put it in a little bottle (pill bottle or something similar) with a silica gel packet, and store it in a cool dry place till you need it. Freezing it, I'd worry about condensation when you defrost it-a little bit of moisture can ruin a lot of pollen.

Yeah, I'm going tomorrow am at about that time-I went last Tuesday also- It's funny-the Foodmaxx I went to had a Huge "bouncer" type guy at the door letting us old farts in and keeping the "youngsters" (under 65) out till 8:00am ;)

Kinda nice though, dontcha think? Was able to go uncrowded slow and actually found stuff! Old farts :ciao: rule!

Yes we do! ( between 6:00 and 8:00 am at the supermarket, anyway!) :)
There was a line at the grocery store this morning. The seniors were trying to get in for their 8-9 AM grocery store shopping. A younger fellow walked up, and cut in line, in front of them all. The seniors don’t sit quietly, they all start booing him and the one in front actually punched the younger guy in the head and dragged him away From the door. The senior gets back in his spot in line. Not even a couple seconds go by, the younger fellow is back trying to but in line. The same elder threatens the younger fellow again. “I let you off easy last time” he says. The younger guy leaves. At this time the seniors only have 5 more minutes to wait till the store opens. Then the younger fellow comes back, and that same senior looks at the younger fellow, and the young one says, “geez if you want in the store, your gunna have to let me open up!”

Great one, thanx for the laugh @Backlipslide ! Made my day, they're discharging me from hospital in an hour or so. Stay strong , don't let kids butt in line and looks like a great idea to get a good buzz on before shopping(with a list, always with a list!). Thanks for that one.:yahoo:

Stay safe! Glad to hear your being discharged! :high-five:

I love that PK!
Thanks,Mr.S. - She's a little like me- not very big, but makes
up for it by being so damn good looking....:laugh::rofl:

Hi,Dean, good to see you!
You need to just click on "Lo Budget Grow"-all my grows have been in this same journal :thumb:
What ! Why did I stop getting notifications on your grows , in your signature on the one that says current I can’t click it .
But very strange I stopped getting notifications , so this journal has been running since the northern lights and peyote ?

your plants look absolutely fabulous man crazy colours , well done . I take it this is still the diy grow box you made? Have you had to replace any fans since or are thoes dollar store ones still rolling , I was surprised how long they lasted .

I just took clones from my flowering plants 2 weeks ago and have tons of roots going now so time to start the re veg , I lost the clones I took let them dry out stupid me, but gave all the spares away to my buddie to help his buddie out.

Here’s one I re vegged at the start of flower I can’t believe the amount of nodes coming up , so you’ll have loads of fun training yours

I hope your son is okay man

hope all is well brotherman. Keep safe

Hi,Dean- I don't know why you'd stop getting notifications ,but yeah, this is the same journal that I've used since beginning indoor growing..same old box, still working pretty well!
Just click on the journal name in my sig- the individual grows aren't linked to the journal, just the title is...

The dollar store doesn't sell those fans during the winter ,so, when the cheapie fans all started going out, I had to go with some computer fans, which are supposed to last for 50,000 hrs- 11 bucks apiece- they're 3 speed fans, which really works out well for controlling the temps in the box.
I hope your son is okay man
He seems to have dodged the covid bullet, so we're all thankful for that...I was a helluva lot more worried about it than he was, but that's what I do...

Hey Fred! Anything is possible. Do you have female plants flowering right now? If you do your gonna need to find a place away from your plants to get the male to maturity and to collect pollen. Even if you have no females in flower I would still do my best to keep the plant away from any grow space you may have. Start flowering the male indoors until you start to see the male flowers swelling and forming clusters. Then bring it to your male quarantine areas to collect the pollen. It’s important you separate all plant material from pollen before storage. Desiccant packs inside whatever small container you have to store it. If you want to save the pollen for awhile you can separate the pollen into a few origami paper envelopes I like black paper and then place those in your small container. Place in freezer and take the envelopes out as you need them. If you have any other questions give me a shout.

Awesome shotta ! Thanks for getting back to me. :ciao: Love the dark origami papers idea, that's for me. Going to have to flower the boy outdoors though, pot him in soil and leave him in the greenhouse with his (soaking but not popped) friends until I build him his own spot.
The Afghani matured around end of Oct last year so I'll be using your method to try to keep viable pollen. Can I wrap a plastic bag with the pollen around 1 long, fat branch/bud, shake it around and leave it for a bit and maybe even cut a slit and pull the whole branch outside the greenhouse and let it go for bit before bringing it back inside? And would that only succeed in pollinating the entire plant? Thanks man!:yahoo::yummy::yummy::ciao: oh yeah, I'm thinking this is a boy, the girl (same age ) has had pistils for a bit even before the switch last Friday. Any thoughts?
