CaptainLucky's First Indoor Golden Tiger Grow 2023

she took a long time with me going 8veg/18.5flower. I believe I was 380g wet and freeze dried to 139g total weight.

I vegged for 90 days and it’s been 103 days since being flipped. CL🍀

Yeah that’s gonna be a never ending ordeal but I’m up for the challenge. It’s gonna be such a hard hitter and I’m gonna have a damn near lifetime supply. lol It’s also going to be fun to watch friends experience it for the first time. You know what Ace says, can be devastating for all but the hardcore Sativa smokers. I have a friend that argues with me that there’s no difference between a Sativa or a Indica. That it’s all just weed and the high is the same. He’s gonna be the first one that gets to sample it. Lmao CL🍀. :rofl::cheesygrinsmiley:
No difference? Hah! He's going to freak!

:welcome:Journal Update: Good morning/afternoon to all my @420 Magazine brothers n sisters. I started this morning a little more baked than usual and then got a little OCD and started picking dry leaves from my Tigers. Should’ve turned the lights intensity down but was pleasantly baked. They both are still sticky as glue n smell awesome. I think 🤔 maybe 2-2+1/2 weeks left and they’ll be ready to harvest. The rest of my Chocolate Thai in basement closet should be ready for jars 🫙 today or maybe tomorrow.I’ve been burping and drying a little longer with my Panama jars and a little fanagilling to get the RH in prime humidity for curing. My Chocolate Thai is holding the RH nicely with a daily burping. After smoking dried larf for so long it’s gonna be heavenly to smoke something cured. I think 🤔 that’s about it for now so happy growing n stay healthy. Please remember that the Sponsors make everything @420 Magazine does for us possible so try to support them when you can. I have a motorized upright TrimPro myself but didn’t use it for my Golden Tiger harvest. I was really worried it was too light in structure and would get smushed around for what we’re only a few leafs. It’s a bitch, but I’d hand trim that beauty of a beast :thumb:

That tent Tiger is a beast! And I wonder about trimming those sativa flowers in a bowl trimmer. I feel like they're designed more for flowers that are clumped together in nugs rather than structured like yours. :hmmmm:
To be honest I wasn’t really wanting to spend anymore money than absolutely necessary but those 1lbs. Grove bags is something that I wouldn’t mind spending a little. CL🍀. :thumb: :cheesygrinsmiley:

:welcome:Journal Update: I don’t know if it’s root bound causing the yellowing or not but whatever it is nothing I’ve been doing is correcting it. I just hope it’s stays healthy enuff to finish flowering. My tent Golden Tiger seems to be doing fine. The jars 🫙 of Panama and Chocolate Thai are finally keeping a stable RH with burping. I’m going to have to get some more jars 🫙 for the CT hanging in my basement closet today which is a pita because there’s no store close by to get them. And it’s forecasted for 100% Thunderstorms today but at least I’ll get some rainwater for the girls. I also spent about a half hour picking off the dried leaves from my tent Tiger because she deserves to look 👀 her best. And I was pleasantly baked from indulging with my @MagicStone for a couple of minutes. So overall I think 🧐 that both Tigers are doing great for such a long flowering time. They might not be the easiest strain to grow but they’re definitely going to be worth the time when I’m still smoking them next year. lol That’s all for now but I hope everyone is doing well with healthy plants. So happy growing n stay safe. Please remember that the Sponsors make it possible for @420 Magazine to continue their efforts so support them if you can. Panama Update: That wet grass smell is finally fading away and that beautiful skunky fragrance is returning after several days of burping. I think 🤔 a few more weeks and I’ll have some grade A Panama buds to enjoy ☺️. CL🍀

I don't know for sure if it's the pot size causing all that yellowing but I do know it's gotta be root bound in there after this long in that little thing!
I believe the pot size is fine in soilless. It's probably down to to much dry backs causing pH to crash and EC to repeatedly spike with nutrient lockouts as a result in the medium.

With that amount of perlite it's almost impossible to over water with that plant size. A sativa likes wet feets more so than an Indica dom and absolutely hates dry backs and high EC.

It's hard growing a long flowering Sativa and keeping them happy and you've done a good job keeping her alive this far!

Cheers and happy growing!

I’m stumped 🤔 everything that I’ve tried hasn’t worked so root bound is the only thing I haven’t tried to fix. Humidity and temperature are fine, I’ve gradually decreased the N then waited with no results. I gradually increased the P with no results. I’ve lowered the ec and still nada 👎. I think it’s going to be fine until it’s finished flowering but I’d like it to be in prime condition. Idk CL🍀

Meh.....

I've been on a mission to debunk the "rootbound" myth.... Obviously, soil & coco are different, but I've grown plants for years in 1gal pots without ever seeing signs of being rootbound. Possibly packed with roots & require more feedings than usual....

Here it the finished plant.... she powered thru; as many do.... I believe a pot being "rootbound" is definitely possible, but is also overused in discussions.

I’m watering/ feeding till runoff daily so I know it can’t be too dry and I lowered the ec weeks ago. Idk🤔 CL🍀

I didn't realize this was a soilless grow. I thought the good Captain was growing in Fox Farms soil.
so root bound is the only thing I haven’t tried to fix.
Tap on the outside of the pot. If it's solid it's packed with roots. Mine always feel like wood! Also you have even less soil than usual because of your layering.
Obviously, soil & coco are different,
Coco is hydro so I think they're very different. Of course Cola Monster grows in solo cups but feeds his 3x/day! I guess Captain could try watering much more often to see how that goes.

I started with the layers but because of the problems I was having I stopped using it when I uppoted. But tapping on the sides is like knocking on a door. Very well could be the problem. CL🍀

I would lower feeding strength somewhat and feed more often and see how she respons. I believe a common misconception on this forum is feeding frequency and dry backs growing in soilless.

A plant needs optimal environmental factors met, not a wet and dry cycle for optimal rate of nutrient uptake and growth. I believe you learn what optimal nutrient uptake really is by going from growing in containers and then hydro and back to containers. Then you've learnt the hydro mentality about increased rate of growth and feeding frequency. I feed up to 7 times in 24h in soilless.
