:thanks: Dennise. I actually anticipated this storm over the weekend and made sure I wouldn't be caught off guard. Right now it's 0 degrees and real feel of -24. Wind is gusting over 40 mph. There's going to be some snow drift hell tomorrow. I was very happy to get time with the plants today and get the new flowering schedule going. :circle-of-love:

I was watching cooking channel today and one of the shows "Extra Virgin" did a feature on an Urban vegetable/herb farm called Riverpark Farm in Alexandria Center. What was most interesting is how they grow their herbs and veggies. They use milk crates lined with landscaping fabric.
I don't know how many gallons a milk crate is in dry measure, but I'm sure it makes a large grow pot. Some of the crates at the farm are double stacked. LOL
I found a site that explains the milk crate concept for urban growers:

I think this idea is awesome, milk crates are cheap and are found in dollar stores and yard sales all the time!
Just thought I would pass the idea along.

That really is very interesting. I plan on doing some canna growing outside in the spring and have started 2 raised beds so they will be ready by spring. It is slate top of this mountain and the one and only time I have ever done this it grew incredibly well. It was a shrub and huge but the day before I was planning to harvest it was yanked and stolen. I saw them as they were doing it but it was on the back part of the property and by the time I was locked and loaded they had run. I knew who they were and found them but that is a whole other story....Let's just say they no longer live round' these parts but just like all things in life it taught me a valuable lesson. The beds I am preparing now are inside the fenced part of my property and that particular area is not easy to get to without the keys and when that happened I had just moved here and no one knew who we were.. They do now...... hence my nick name of "the crazy b#@*% with a .38" So hopefully I will be able to reproduce the same beauty as was stolen and actually get to use it. I am very curious as to how much the inside and outside grow will differ........ and how much difference there will be in the final product... :sorry: I am rambling..........

You and I are much alike in some ways Dennise. I have a sign on my garage entrance door "I don't answer the door to strangers....my .38 does" LOL
I am locked, loaded and ready at all times and have scared the pants off many a trespasser. Got my concealed weapons permit and I go no where on my property without a weapon. ;-)
My home was broken into back in '97 by a very large thief. The fingerprints I made the State police take here came back with a hit one year later. He went to prison for the break ins, when he got out 3 years ago he continued his life of crime and wound up shooting and killing a jewelry store owner and a customer. He's now doing life without parole. I take no chances with strangers.

Geez, now I"m rambling too. LOL ON with the GREEN STUFF! :smoke2:

I think you should actually start a new journal once you do your final weight and smoke report. The title to this one would now be misleading for any actual new Newbies and you've drastically changed your lighting from when this thread actually began...plus, seeing as your a chick and almost 50% of the population have first hand experience at what pain-in-the-arses ya'all can be, seems only fitting that one of us give one of ya'all the same pain back; vacation's over, get to work lol. ;p

LOL, ya got me giggling again Jam. Yeah, chicks we are....and admit it now...you like putting up with us. LOL

I'm thinking of just changing the title of the current thread, seeing as it's going to be perpetual because the clones are the same strain.
I'm still mulling that over on the how to. It would have to not contain the newest of noobs for sure. LOL

Princess DIY, You're my new hero! Milk crates are on the side of almost every supermarket & restaurant in the city. Shoot people here use them for everything from closet storage crates & shoe boxes to seats in the park during sports tournaments. now all I have to figure out is a good drain pan. Oh I got it! Aluminum bake trays! I think that's equivalent to an airpot. An urban Airpot.

I've been wracking my brain, and scouring garden supplies for something low, square and somewhat high volume (3-5 gal) for a couple of weeks now for my grow box.

You found it for me. I have about a dozen of these crates out in my little storage shed. I took 2 of them out there Saturday 'cause I was tired of walking around them on my back porch.

I don't know how many partial rolls of landscaping screen I have on the shelf, but there is plenty there as we are perpetually changing flower beds, laying patio and paver stones.

I should be able to use three or four easily in my grow box 21/2'x21/2':thanks:

Choco chip cookies Jay...Brownies on Friday! I haven't had time to bake anything, but I did get another lb. of cannabutter made. More will go in tonight when I get out of work. IF I go to work. LOL

Hey Canna!

When using the drying racks, do you first hang the buds for a couple days, or do they go straight onto the rack to dry? I really like the idea of the rack, but I feel like I am missing something when it comes to how to use it. I would hate to put all the time, money, and energy into this only to screw it all up at the end.

Hey Sweetleef! I didn't hang them at all. I just put them right on the racks and made sure to turn them a few times so I didn't get flat spots. I'm no expert on this, so everyone chime in if you think they should be hung up first. My buds turned out fine though. I would leave a good length of stem though, sweetleef, so you can have room to snap the stem to check if they're dry enough. I cut my stems a bit too short. Lesson learned. LOL
