Good morning everyone. :) I feel like a brand new person today. I feel great...I'm moving great...and ready to take on the tasks before me. :cheertwo:

First up was some seed planting. The black and blue () Hyenas were anxious to get going for sure. This was overnight:

I'm using rockwool cubes this time for seed planting:

The White Widows and two other strains are not popping, so I decided to give them a boost of Hydrogen Peroxide to see if that gets them to open up.

Everything is looking great, just waiting for decent tap roots to plant the rest.

Hope everyone is doing well, and Shawnee.....don't give up yet. Hopefully you will see some sprouts soon. Are you talking about the ones you have planted after the taproots grew? If so, this means you are doing fine to the point of getting them planted...something is going on once you get to the planting part.
How wet is the soil they are going into? Have you tested the soil to be sure it isn't too hot for seedlings/sprouts?
Also, I'll get slapped for suggesting this...but it has answered my questions in the past....have you tried to dig up any that haven't sprouted to see if they are alive and growing or stale and brownish?
Digging seeds is a tedious process, you want to go little by little moving the soil so if there is a sprout growing you don't push it over and break a taproot or damage it.

That's all I can really think of at the moment.

I swear....some people you just can't make happy!

Wasn't it just a few short weeks ago I was complaining about nanners on this plant? Now I'm hoping for them!

Success with Purple P. #1, she's growing some out on those leftover buds:

This employer has been responsible for more life changing events for me in less than two years than my entire life of working.

This spring I did not escape the restless shift syndrome. I have been bumped to third shift starting on Monday. Gawd....I don't know if this is something I can do. It's a "been there, done that" and it didn't work then. I'll give it my best shot....

Edit: Oops, pardon my manners....Good Morning everyone! :nomo:

I could thank you for this post but could not bring myself to like it....Good lord, Canna, THIRD shift....that is not good for the human body and oh so stressful.....so sorry to hear this dreadful news.....so what are the exact hours, anyway.....this is terrible....

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

The hours will be 10:45 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. I'm still trying to decide whether to get my sleep in when I get home, or wait until afternoon. Either way....I don't like it one bit.

There are several problems with this shift.....I've had the misfortune of working with a few of them when they were doing overtime. They are a whole different type of "attitudes".
I'm going to talk to HR today, and the lead supervisor to see if anything can be done to keep me where I am. The more I think about this, the more it just doesn't work with my life. {{sigh}}

So...on to grow stuff. I dropped 3 more White Widow seeds into water yesterday, and those have not shown any sign of cracking either. These were home growns from a friend, I have quite a few..so I'll keep trying until I get some cracking going on.
One Bubba Tahoe OG, and the Blueberry Auto were planted in the rockwool this morning. Still waiting on Auto Northern Hog, the taproot looks black. Seems I had one like that before with a different strain, but it actually sprouted. Let's hope so, I'm still waiting for it to fully emerge.

The good news this morning, I have a registered package being delivered today from over the pond. Woot! Woot! Beans!

:thanks: That's the name I couldn't think of! Polyploid, it's what Dennise had on one of her plants and someone told her what it was. :ciao: Dennise. :)

Coincidentally....or not?.... this plant sprouted with 3 Cotyledon's and almost doubled the size of the other two sister seeds since she started out.

I'm taking a couple of clones today. :)

I love your humor, the frost on the frost is looking awesome hanging in the drying closet. Can't wait for a good cure. :)

Nice... when you see strange things always take a clone and ask questions later... ya never know. The little seedling is cool looking, even the stem has trichomes! :thumb:

We are growing veggies and flowers indoors right now... always looking for weird stuff happening. We twins in the pepper seedlings right now... 1 seed 2 plants 1 root. They are both taking off.

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

well I suck....Horticulture degree from Michigan State University, grower and landscaper for 40 years on my own property planting thousands of plants and trees.....and 6 babied seeds did not come up.....I followed all the seed available learning on this website...need to suck it up and move on....I'll be fine.....don't mind me....

Spring is here and I will experience the same with planting vegetables...

Shawnee... try this... soak the seeds overnight in a glass of 1/2 filtered water and 1/2 H2o2 (hydrogen peroxide) up to 24 hrs is fine.. then drop them into a little 1/2" or less hole in some of those Jiffy Peat pellets (pour hot water on them to re-hydrate) and put them under a dome. I've used these before and just started again this spring with them and I'm like 35 for 36 sprouted seedlings (just canna) and they usually sprout in 2-3 days. So no patience required.

Instead of hydrogen peroxide you can mix up a little potassium permaganite to a pink color and soak seeds in that as well.

Right now HomeDepot has the little Jiffy peat pellets with a tray and a dome on sale... I buy the tray with the dome and a set of pellets then order a 100 pack of pellets at a time from Amazon. They work great for the larger seeds we are using and also work great for some of the veggies and flowers with larger seeds. I think the dome and a heat pad is what makes it all work.

Hi Bob, tremendous advice and I thank you wholeheartedly....interestingly enough, I had 1 whole flower room hermie (not sure if that is the right term) but these plants have produced 1000's of seeds after I smash the buds to recover the entire investment of purchasing 5 seeds at a time for $120 for the 5 initial strains I purchased as I began my caregiving experience with patients....

Oh how wonderful, I thought....but I am a cloner and I suck at seed popping.....well, that is my next learning experience I need to conquer....I have hydrogen peroxide under the kitchen sink and a dome already....I will purchase some peat pellets from cramazon and let you know how I do.....I have used rockwool and wasn't impressed....am liking the idea of peat pellets so much more my speed....you made my day, Bob, and thank you....

I did a little something extra and put those rock wool cube trays on a seedling mat this morning for warmth.

Seedling mats are worth there weight in gold.

Shawnee, you can use a regular heating pad like for your sore muscles instead of a seedling mat. Will work just as well.

:circle-of-love:
It might get too hot but I've never tried so I could be mistaken as well

I was thinking of my heating pad...I'm going to turn it on low and see how hot it gets :thanks:

Mine has a controlled temp switch, three settings from warm to hot-ish. So, yeah I would be sure to choose one with a temp controller. :thumb:
