Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

I need to remember to disable the galaxy sign when in he app, lol.

And can you see the piggy emoticon? Wasn't sure if it translates for all. Tablet has opened so whole new world, lol.

YES! Now I see that it's a piggy. It's a bit small, but clear to me now. :)

I don't want/need to be tagged, I was just greedy. I can buy them when I truly need them.

I would think you'd want to compost all of the material first. But a mulch layer might have some benefit. I don't have ponds or associated weeds, so I can't help you. But I'll be watching and learning, because there are a lot of ponds around me.

I think with the "Tag", Sara means to post something like @Cannafan, or whoever they are tagging for the chance. Not sure. I would love the opportunity for sure!

I'm going to definitely drag some weeds up today. I already have a compost area to start. Will grass clippings from the riding mower be useful in a compost pile?
I'll post some pics after I've put some weed mulch around the two plants. Those will be easy because they are only about 5 feet from some weed areas of the pond. One of those two plants is suffering the yellowing leaves again.

Yeah, I think you're right with tags. I think you were @tagged twice already.

Grass is nitrogen rich and needs to be balanced with brown lignin containing stuff like wood chips, leaves and straw. Brown dried grass that lost color since it was cut is still n rich, fyi. Thankfully fall is right around the corner . Start with 50/50 green/brown. Mix them together or layer materials in thin layers and build up. Thin like 1-3 inches. If you have good well composted compost on hand, mix some in to inoculate with the micros needed through out the composting process. Of course layer in pond cuttings and anything else besides meat and fat. Azomite or other rock dust. Forest floor "litter". Fruit from under the fruit trees. You can also toss a dry fertilizer mix in and have a super top dressing next year.

I love mowing in the fall here. Premixed and bagged compost in kit form. Just dump, wet and turn/manage, lol.

So, Beav....on the seaweed. I have what is exactly like Lake Michigan seaweed growing in the pond. I have several different varieties of weeds in the pond, duck weed...pond weed... coontail (which I believe is what the lake has to offer the most of here), eurasian milfoil, all kinds of different things. (thanks to the waterfowl that poop and land here) Would any of that work in the same manner?
I haven't looked into that yet, but thought maybe you would have some input.

I found a compost recipe that had seaweed, grass clippings and dried leaf material and figured if I aged it in the hole for 6 months it would be better than the natural sand. I don't have another plant in the ground to compare it to, but she sure is a pretty thing.
All I can say is I think it was beneficial so I'll be doing another one before the snow flies:thumb:

1) I would only send cured bacon.

2)Your plants are lovely, and so is the old wood burner.

3) No..Me! I need a new tent and light to run SOG tests on my seeds, lol.

4) OK, I'm just as greedy as D when it
Sent from a Galaxy far, far away.

Heyyyy... I resemble that remark....:circle-of-love:

You got my vote girl!

Thank you, and everyone else too!

I'm heading out to clean out the paddle boat now. Lord knows how big the spiders will be. LOL Then off to yank up weeds without breaking them apart...... hopefully. Sunburn city today!

Grand Daddy Purple.
I bought 1 seed (I know, I know, big spender, eh?) 13 months ago and have been cloning it for a year now but it's time to move on so this is the end of the line for GDP at my house.

I had a terrible time with the mom being my first seed and all, it was a steep learning curve but in the end I guess you could say it's a pretty hearty strain :laughtwo:

Awesome Grand Daddy! Thanks for the pic! Too bad it's the last of it. I'm the same as you, I do the "one seed" sometimes, for cost reasons mostly.

Well, there was no need to clean out the paddle boat. With the hot summer we've had the pond is low, so I actually have a bank to walk on.
I just grabbed weeds from there in about ankle deep water.
I got about a half wheel barrow full of three different varieties. That will go on the two plants as soon as it's drained a bit, it's heavy! (wheelbarrow has rust holes in it)

This is the duckweed, or pondweed variety, can't remember at the moment:

This is what is commonly in the Lake around here. The coontail:

The E. Milfoil is more toward the middle of the pond. That will take the paddle boat to get to.

So, I was reading that the weeds need to be rinsed after pulling for compost or mulch. I kinda have to disagree with this. All that soil and leaves that come up with them are full of nutrients...right? I would think the rinsing would apply to having pulled it from saltwater, as opposed to freshwater that we have here. I think leaving that bottom soil in the mix will be good for the mulching?

Thoughts?

Do compost piles have to be in full sun? I would like to make this one in an area near the pond for ease of transport, but it's pretty much woodsy where there won't be a lot of sunlight.

I'll just go with "SIMPLE" until someone tells me differently.

Seaweed on beach...pitch fork.... seaweed in da hole.

(Note to old farts... dig hole close to shoreline on bank.)

Yep, that's simple. And not out of my plan. LOL

I do want to make compost to throw on the gardens next year though. My cucumbers took a hit from not enough food. They grew round instead of long.
