Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

An update on the planter I scattered home grown seeds in to experiment, and gave up on. There are lots of plants in there, but none of them are even close to a foot high due to not enough sunlight.
There are several females, and each one of those has at least one bud starting on the top. I doubt there will be enough of a bud to fill a pipe. LOL But I'm going to let them do their thayang:

Here's White Kush Bomb girl today. I'm using a large tomato as a size reference. She was awarded a slight haircut of leaves to open things up a bit. Not much at all though:

Okay, in no necessary order, here's the girls by the house. You will notice one with some yellowing leaves going on, that's a Custard Cream Clone who is going to get a shot of nitrogen today.
Also, my tomatoes look a bit immature. They are. I have to harvest them in an almost ripened state and then put them in a windowsill to finish up before the chipmunks munch them. So far that's working out great!
And yes, the ugly ancient thing in the background is a wood burner stove. LOL

Lemon Venom got topped yesterday along with White Cookies. I'll have White Cookies pic in a little bit. Training has also started on Lemon V:

Here she is with Lady Craps-a-Lot admiring her. I call her that because she poo's every time she gets to the feeder. I watched a chipmunk scrounging on the ground under there get hit on the head with it one day. A totally different kind of "topping".

I need to clean that window outside. LOL

Will you be trying to get males out?

planter_kids_2.jpg

If I find any males in there, they get yanked. That planter is too close to the pond and the house, "have pollen will travel".

Oh don't send the "bacon" gang after me Heirloom!!! I told a fib. Please forgive me!

There is one more plant to update. Ministry of Cannabis' Carnival has been vegging for three months now, so she went outside to start the flowering.
The indoor area is now reserved for the two newest kids and the ones I will germ/plant this coming week.

Here's Carnival after a minor defol before she was put in the jungle: (she got an extra large beefsteak tomato for size reference)

This is the jungle. Sure hope there are no early low flyers this season.

Absolutely beautiful... I'm gonna quit posting mine... I'm starting to feel a little inept......:circle-of-love:

Oh stop that! I will not take the bait on that fishing expedition.

Your ground is apparently a richer soil than mine, based on what I've seen. My potted girls are doing 100% better on growth and maturity than any of the ones in the ground. I've tried 4 different areas now in the last two years, the sunlight is fine...but the soil seems to be missing something.

I think that I will keep them in pots next year, much bigger pots, instead of grounding them.

I don't have anything in the ground... They are all in pots... Next year though I'm putting at least one in the personal garden come hell or high water... I've got a plan to grow a Heir and Grizz girl...:;):....:circle-of-love:

Oh, sorry I should have been clearer on that. Didn't you have some in the ground last year? Or am I thinking of someone different in your area on a journal here?

And....well....I would love to have had anything close to a Grizzwald or Heirloom monster. What I have right now are more like Tiny Tim offspring compared to those!
I might get onto the north ten acres next year and get into that wetlands area of mine...see what I can find in a nice sunlit area. Ya never know.

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

Funny thing....I was thinking today that I need to build a grow tent so I can utilize the garage again this year during the winter. The tent will hold heat.

Soooo...Mars Hydro has a contest. Tag me guys! Tag me! Tag me! I really want to try that grow tent and light!

Mars Hydro is looking for product reviewer

Last fall I dug a hole about 3' wide and 3' deep and put a foot of seaweed in the bottom.
This spring I filled it up with once used FFOC/Perlite then put a 20 gallon Smart Pot filled with fresh soil on top.
She just started flowering at 6'.
She will be the last of my Grand Daddy Purple.

Thanks for that! I can get seaweed on the cheap here....just go drag it out of the lake. LOL

So, Beav....on the seaweed. I have what is exactly like Lake Michigan seaweed growing in the pond. I have several different varieties of weeds in the pond, duck weed...pond weed... coontail (which I believe is what the lake has to offer the most of here), eurasian milfoil, all kinds of different things. (thanks to the waterfowl that poop and land here) Would any of that work in the same manner?
I haven't looked into that yet, but thought maybe you would have some input.

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

Well, the thought of using my pond weed is intriguing me. I did a little search this morning, I found this by a gardener on a site:

Seaweed need not come from only the sea. We in the Midwest have witnessed an infestation of Curly Leaf Pondweed and Milfoil that has been choking our lakes and waterways, and causing a hazard to navigation.

This pondweed is absolutely full of nutrients, and the nearby residents will be happy if you would help them out and remove it. I live on a series of canals connected to the Missouri River, and the lower levels and slow water in the canals are perfect breeding grounds for the Curly Leaf Pondweed, which showed up in force in the last ten years. The growing stems are hollow, and that causes the weed to grow upward. It is easy to identify growing areas of the weed, and it is only a matter of a little elbow grease to harvest this free resource.

Water-side residents initially cut or pulled up the weed using rakes thrown from shore, but I have found that dragging a heavy sickle bar behind a small boat is quite effective. Once dislodged, the plants float to the surface where they can easily be removed. Later in the fall, spent plants will die and float to the surface, where they drift to the shore and accumulate in wide bands. These drifted are yours for the taking on public beaches, and you only need a wheelbarrow or garden cart to havest all you can use.

I have placed the recently dislodged plants in windrows, and then chopped them into smaller lengths with a tool often called a MUTT, or multiple use tool, which has a wide cutting edge on a long handle. At that point the plants can be immediately used as mulch, or added to the compost pile.

The benefit over ocean-grown seaweed is that the pondweed contains no salts, and can be used as is.

You are only limited by the amount of time available to gather this valuable but free resource. It's another gift from nature without cost, and it is immediately usable.

I am going to start a compost pile for the pondweed varieties here. I have no shortage of the pondweeds or leaves to mix in to supply air pockets for it.
Here I am every year disgusted with the amount of weeds in that pond that cost money to eradicate, and I could be yanking them and using them on the gardens??

There is one point I disagree with on the person's comments in regards to the "dragging" method of removing the weeds. This does nothing more than chop the plants up, which float to the top...yes...however, each one of those pieces will grow roots if not removed entirely. If you do not get all of it, you have multiplied your problem extensively. (ask me how I know this. LOL)

I have actually used my paddle boat on many occasions and traveled around the pond hand yanking weeds and then taking them to shore to dry and burn later. This prevents the chopped up pieces from rooting elsewhere.

1) I would only send cured bacon.

2)Your plants are lovely, and so is the old wood burner.

3) No..Me! I need a new tent and light to run SOG tests on my seeds, lol.

4) OK, I'm just as greedy as D when it comes to winning stuff.

So, today....out with the paddle boat. Yank some pondweed and duckweed variety and chop them up for mulch around the two plants in the cove. I want to see if it helps or hinders in the fresh state (before composting)
The Eurasion Milfoil is prolific here, but from what I'm reading that needs to be composted first? The eurasian milfoil is what makes eradication so costly, the treatment is expensive and shipping is illegal in some states. This is all new to me, but I am excited that I may be able to make use of a problematic weed as a resource.

Comments totally welcomed!

ROFL, I will be waiting patiently for that cured bacon. I have a wedding party of Bread, Lettuce, and Tomato that need escorts...

Well, I will be very jealous of anyone that does win the tent and the light. It looks awesome, and I would JUMP at the chance. There is no doubt that I will need some kind of tent in that garage to help hold the heat in. There are just too many drafts that cannot be stopped, in addition to driving in an out with the vehicles upon leaving or returning from work.
If I don't win, I have some plans in mind to make one. We'll see.

Sent from a Galaxy near you!
