As far as pressing goes...

So the stuff I found on the Glycerin it was recommended to use a lime press like this

Which makes sense as that is very dense syrup.

The everclear however is very thin so I am seriously thinking a french press. At least to get the bulk of it out.

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

My newest friend with cancer OD'd on the oil her very first time. High anxiety. She's been smoking since the 60's and thought, even against my warnings, that her tolerance was high and she could do a large tack to start. She fell asleep and wakened 3 hours later, anxious as hell and not liking it so much as she thought she would! She wants to take a few days off to clear her system and start again with half or less a dose size. We'll see what she does, but what a bummer for her. She has breast cancer that has metastasized all over her body. She's between chemo and radiation for the third time and doesn't want to continue with that option. She's a hundred miles away from me, but we spent a lot of time on the phone and she read the tacking thread here, so I don't know what else I could have done to prevent the OD. She's a retired physician and has read about the oil, but obviously didn't think it was so strong. I see we must be careful of folks having a little information besides what we present to them. I sure hope she gives it another chance.

Any input on what I might have done better with her? I thought I had it covered......not!

Skype it or find some way to video connect with them, like Tim used to do. This is why I want to actually be there during those first few tacks.
If you can get Skype going, then you can be "live" to show them how to do the tack and be sure they are dosing the right amount.

That's the only thing I can think of to help you there johnnycake. Other than having them call you when they are doing that first tack so you can verify with them as they get it ready........

Johnny, you can only give the information, they will take the info they like and leave the rest. I'm guessing that we need to push the facts of just how powerful of a medicine CCO is. I also think that we need to remember just how foggy the mind is when doing chemo & radiation not to mention the fact that they were given the bomb shell of cancer. Don't you dare think that this was your fault because it wasn't and I believe she will pay a lot more attention to you in the future, I know I would. And I'm sure you told her no sloppy tacks :cheesygrinsmiley:

Plus JohnnyOilSeed... she is a physician... she knew... she just thought it would be a really good "stone" but it is just so much more intense sometimes folks just have to find out for themselves... I did... I have been smoking pretty constant since I was 12 or 13 YO... Very few breaks in there and I ain't nno spring chicken now.... so I thought I had a huge tolerance too... I was having a really bad day shortly after I started tacking... Did an extra grain... xlarge kind... I puked...:thedoubletake: and I didn't get paranoid and all that nonsense but I did feel pretty lousy for 2 days... I have been a bit more careful with my regular tacks since then too and I'm a RN... I honesly just didn't realize how powerful the oil is and you guys have all damn sure told me so like CCO said... This isn't on you and don't you dare blame yourself..... Love ya Mean it........:circle-of-love:

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

So hey quicky update. I told yall I bought out the glycerin I could find and it was barely enough, not really enough. Well I am finding each day it looks like there is less in there. I think it is slowly absorbing into the plant matter. I stopped at another store today and couldn't find more but I did place that order for a gallon on Amazon. So when it gets here in a few days I will top off and that kinda resets the timer a bit. But I will let it go a good long time. There is a lot of glycerin in there already. I am sure I can pull out just a little and do multiple tests of potency as it progresses. Possibly even return it to the jar after a few doses.

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Updates on the glycerin & the Everclear at different stages will be great, thank you for taking the time here on our oily journal :adore:

I just made up a couple pints of Glycerine Tx. yesterday and now I see why someone mentioned just turning the jar upside down everyday as opposed to shaking it up. This is some seriously thick gooey syrup, you couldn't shake it if you tried. If you let it sit for an hour or so the cannabis rises to the top and I have about 3/4" to 1" of brown oil on the bottom. I'm hoping this method eliminates all of the chlorophyll taste.

That press looks like it should work V.I. How much will it hold? I see there are some inexpensive potato/rice mashers out there too, something like $15-$25, which is similar to the stainless steel one I have for Spatzle.

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Potato ricer. You can get some pretty good leverage with these, and they hold a good cup of material..... just another idea if you haven't bought yet.

Hey john buddy. I had the same issue with a lady with lung cancer. I opted for Cajun's Canna-Flax-lecithin protocol, even thou he stated the "high" will be more immediate and onset. I used 1/2 gram caps opposed to the 1 gram caps which she could take several times a day without feeling Uncomfortably "High". I was using a Cannatonic strain with a bit of Blue Dream so it was not overly over powering, she now has made the transition to CCO but continues to take the flax caps also. Doctor was only giving her a month back in October and here we are in March, I dear say something is working. Another lady with breast cancer ( which I substituted the flax with extra virgin olive oil) had an issue with "burping" up the oil since she was receiving Chemo at the time of taking the the caps, so I we went with the CCO only till symptoms of the poison has subsided considerably. This is just a suggesting since peoples tolerance is difference as we all know but it worked for her. In the words of Cajun....Keep on Keeping on!

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

I thought about a rice masher and that should work too. I got a metal lime squeeze at Walmart for just under $10.

I isn't huge and will likely take longer...But I can do this while watching TV so shouldn't be that big a dealio.

That made me laugh when you mentioned shaking it. So actually if you take your time and loosen it up all the way around you can kind of get some action but only if you don't have enough in there. Like you said the cannabis floats so you really need to fill the jar. So done correctly it wont move really at all. I think the ones I am using are not ideal for this reason because you can't actually fill it. The lid is vacant so I will definitely need to turn it daily.

You should be turning it anyway and I am telling you a lot has been absorbed in my few days.

I ran out like I said but it did initially cover it. The place I initially learned about this from said it would take like 3 hours of topping it off and letting it settle to get it all in there. Hopefully my jug gets here soon and I can top it off.
