Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

I've always believed in taking the time to do a few things very thoroughly, as opposed to many things half azzed.

I never properly thanked you for this post Canna. I've been chuckling about it ever since it went up. It's one of the unfortunate traits of the Sagittarian personality that we're easily distracted by the shiny and new. Consequently we start with good intentions but then get so many things going on that we get neglectful or sloppy. Hence my overloaded subscription list.

Your post has me sitting down today to firm up goals and draw up plans to achieve said goals. You're a good friend to be standing next to. :circle-of-love:

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

By the way, I am using EverClear 151 Cannafan. I gave up on the oven and got a fondue pot out that sits on a hot plate (with Olive Oil in it.) I am reducing it down at around 215-218 degrees. It is getting darker as you said, it is going to get interesting real soon :-)

I like that fondue pot idea. I waited FOREVER in my oven when I made that boo boo. LOL

Be sure to load a pic of your finished oil if you can!

I just pulled something out of my cupboards that I haven't used in years. It's an egg poaching pan with 6 little stainless steel poaching cups that sit in a stainless steel holder in the top of the pan. This is going to get used for oil in some way shape or form. Oven proof, and it could be used like a double boiler....

Sue, I wish I knew for sure what the resulting proof is. Can't help ya there.....[/QUOTE]

I was mostly wondering if it mattered what proof it was after distilling?

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

I use mine almost everyday... You know to poach eggs...:yikes:....:circle-of-love:

I wish I could....I have discovered I have a major allergy to eggs in their whole form. My favorite food....of course. I can eat them scrambled, no trouble...go figure

My understanding of this is that the proof is related to how much the water content is and the percentage of alcohol in that by volume. So, it really shouldn't matter on the proof after distilling, what matters is how long it will take to reduce the water content in the remaining out.

Someone please correct me if I'm off base there.

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

I don't think the proof is too important as long as the solvent is clean, lower just means more water, so a bit less effective at stripping off the resin, so perhaps a little longer wash to compensate. if you want the "good stuff", try searching "organic and alcohol". It looks more expensive than Everclear in small amounts, but the 5 gallon pail would cost less. it would be fun to share the cost of 5 gallons with a few others, but storage can be an issue if you don't have proper containers, like old Everclear bottles.

You are getting reps as soon as I finish posting this. Also...sorry, it is 151 proof. I'm getting a little excited.

It would probably come close to 190 proof but if you want to check it, a Proof Hydrometer is like $10 bucks at Shamazon.

I know exactly what you are talking about, I got one stashed in a cupboard too.

I missed pulling it off the warmer in time and it got way to thick so I added a little more EverClear, mixed it up and put it in the oven like I planned on initially. I just don't seem to be able to stop it at the right time. The oven sounded easier to me... Next time I think Ill put it on that fondue warmer till most everything unwanted is evaporated off and then switch and finish it in the oven.

I'm going to make it work for something for sure.

Howse' that oil looking?

:circle-of-love:

Edit: I saw your edit. You got a nice amber color there?

It really takes watching closely toward the end. I learned that too. LOL

Why would scrambled make that much difference? That's very interesting. Eggs and Greek yogurt are my favorite protein sources, followed by broccoli and oatmeal with a bit of milk added (my mother taught me that the little bit of milk makes oatmeal a complete protein). I have a difficult time with meats of any sort.

{{shrugs shoulders}} If I eat a fried egg, poached egg, or in any way an egg with the yolk still soft....it's plays horrible hell on my innards. I can eat a hard boiled egg too. Like I said, go figure.....

Wierd...

Beav,

When I click on your blog posts under your member name I get an error saying I do not have permission to access.
I can't get into it. ;-)

Guess I'm not sure what you are looking for. The only thing I use my blog for is saving tid-bits that I want to revisit later... kinda like a notepad. I made it private cause I didn't want everyone to have to endure the non-sense that I keep :-)

Ahhh....that explains it. It's private. Wasn't looking for anything in particular, I just pop around on others' blogs now and then when I see they have one. I learn lots of different things doing that.
