Lots of opinions online about how much cannabis oil to put into a topical. Anyone have first hand experience on this? Curious how effective topicals are against joint and muscle pain.
I use 3 oz of trim and use everclear to make oil. Right before all the everclear is cooked off I add 15 ML of olive oil and heat just enough for the rest of the everclear to cook off. While still heating on very low, I add 10 ML aloe vera, 10 ML jojoba, 10 ML hemp seed oil, 10 ML calendula, 20 ML arnica and 1 ML of mixed tocopheral (vit. E). Mix well, cool and put in containers. It works very well as a topical pain oil. Hope this helps.

Mighty Mouse, this is great info too. Do you mind if I add it to the topicals area of my blog?

You are so correct, I completely forgot that this thread is an "On Topic" area. My apologies.

So much valuable information being shared here. It's a challenge to get it all consolidated into a usable format. We've just started to scratch the surface here. Canna, with small exception I'm going to let you keep track of the topical info on your blog and concentrate on ECS info, member testimonials, CCO strain considerations and oil production techniques on mine. I could get lost in the topical posts, but that would distract me from my primary goal of making all that technical med speak easier to understand.

I need to get home already and get something planted and get back to the business of writing again. They keep this house unheated, and I feel another cold trying to come on.

Yours will contain the specific main information on those items for sure Sue. I will still be posting things to mine for personal use as I come across things I want to refer to later. If you see anything on mine that you would like to post to yours, feel free. It's a public share. :)
As I come across things that are pertinent to the blog you have going, I will PM you as well.

I am excited to get some great information on topicals, ointments and such all in one place, which will be my area of focus right now.

I've got another idea rolling around that might be put into place soon.

Absolutely it can be done with out the MB2. It just makes life easier. Put oil, crush up bud and Lecithin in a crock pot and cook on low (160 degrees or so) for 4 hours. I use 1T Sunflower (not soy) lecithin per cup of oil. This helps increase the bio availability if you use it orally. I use the oil in my brownies too. Good coconut oil makes for a great tasting chocolate coconut brownie!!! :circle-of-love::peace:

Have you shared your recipe on Cannafan's edibles blog? I'd like to try this sometime.

My daytime tack (Tangie) is so gosh darn tasty! Very citrusy (tastes like grapefruit), and it makes me happy, motivated, and insightful. I must find more. I bought 2 clones last fall after trying the bud, bloomed the first maybe too soon (could'a' should'a' waited, grown a bigger plant, and then I'd have more). Now clone #2 has been in the bloom room for a month, but I didn't get a good clone of either plant first. (Not for lack of trying, but my recent clones have not been "taking.") I went ahead and cut some shoots off of it today, and I am going to keep them warm and nearby. My sis says 73-75 F works for her. Wish me luck.

I have noticed metabolic changes since adopting a daily cannabis regimen, but even more since starting daily tacking. Body fat is redistributing, gut is shrinking. No appetite for sugars, just for good food. Must be homeostasis, eh?

Thank you so much for posting this Cannacar. I've been on an extended vacation without any of my regular edibles and I've been frustrated that the metabolism's been reverting back to what it used to be. Not happy with that and still another week to go. I'll be whipping up a small batch of CCO as soon as possible, but I'll be going back to edibles immediately. After six weeks I'm starting to feel old and creaky again and the fat is shifting in ways I find disturbing. There're too many sugary options available in this house too and I'm having a difficult time resisting them, whereas at home, on regular brownie doses, I don't crave sugar at all. You gave me hope that this is only a temporary situation.

As frustrating as this is for me, the experience of having a continuious regular supply of meds and then going without for an extended time has been tremendously insightful. This little lab rat's ready to get back to her sense of "normal" though.

This thread's becoming such a valuable resource I'm going to have to get some index cards and start organizing it somehow. I just went through four pages and my head's spinning. I have to keep reminding myself that I can't do it all, but you all make it so tempting to try. :laughtwo:

Hey groomer, I'm making nighttime oil today....what are you up to?

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Very nice information here, thank you. Since I have already made the cannabis oil, but have not added anything to it yet, nor decarb'ed it, looking for a reasonable amount, was thinking around a gram for every couple ounces of lotion. Once I know what ingredients will be used to make the topical, I'll decide how to incorporate/decarb the CO. I normally add coconut oil to the CO and put it into the oven at 348f. I have found that the decarb is easier when it is possible to observe it by watching the bubbles, but with straight oil it is sometimes too thick to show these "indicator bubbles". But, for a lotion, heat is probably not going to work because I think the ingredients in the bulk lotion need to be kept below, I dunno, the mid 100fs? If I plan to add coconut oil to the lotion, then I could mix the CO with coconut and decarb, then mix it all up, but am concerned with separation. When making caps I put in a little soy lecithin at the start of decarb, which seems to help with emulsification, keeping them pretty well blended while filling caps.

Maybe a gram of cannabis oil for every 4 ounces of lotion? Is that a reasonable amount for a pain relief remedy?

Thinking a nice, thick lotion, maybe served up in a jar if too thick for a pumper.
