More question for step 2

Hello.. As process is complete till the filtering .. Now i want to provide heat to it but i have few question...

REFERENCE MOTOCO METHOD

1) What is the temp of electric cooker on LOW and HIGH ? it will help me in processing the material on hot plate or induction ... i guess it is min 100 F and max 180 F am i right ? it is only for evaporating the alcohol ?

2) What exactly should not reach above 250 f the CANNABIS OIL inside the double boiler or the OLIVE OIL in the double boiler. As per the image it is clear that the INSIDE of the CANNABIS OIL should not go above 250 F so obiviously the outer (OLIVE OIL) will be more than 250 F.. Am i right ?

Altainta, it's the CCO that shouldn't go above 250 F. Higher than that and you're cooking the cannabanoids instead of decarbing them.

Someone else may be able to answer the questions on cooker temps.

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Here is a quick thought I was just having. We have been talking about CCO and topical applications. IF you are only using the oil topically (not ingesting or tacking) would there be any problem making the oil with ISO? For people who ONLY need topical, it would be a boat load cheaper to get 90+% ISO in stead of Everclear!:peace:

That is a good question SG. I've never used ISO, and John has commented about it. I will be waiting for comments on that as well.

Altainta,
I'm going to move your question over to the "How to Make Concentrated Cannabis Oil" also, so you can get the answers and others making the oil can view them when needed too. This thread is more off topic, and the How to thread is where the specific questions should be posted.

Here is where it's posted:

And Sue, could you please move your response over there as well? Thanks!

Great question SG!
There should be no problem with using ISO as long as it's not ingested. Really great point.

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

I am not sure it would even be worth "reclaiming" the $3 or $4 worth of ISO. ;) :peace:

I doubt that I would even try, considering how much more inexpensive that is to grain alcohol. Would probably use that up in electricity. LOL

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Sounds like a new recipe using ISO for your blog Sista???

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Oh yeah Brother dear. I would have to put a disclaimer in bold for sure. LOL

I guess it's time I tried ISO on some home made creams..... so much to do and experiment with.

My pain cream worked quite well last night. The back soreness was eased. It also made for some great smooth skin! I get dehydrated easily and the skin feels dry, this helped take the dryness away.

My wife and I used infused coconut oil all the time for relief of sore muscles. It makes a great body massage oil!!! I use 1g of cured bud per oz of coconut oil in the MB2 (or 2-3g trim) :) :peace:

You would not believe the supply of coconut oil I have here. LOL Right now I'm going to separate the cream I made and experiment with some things to make it less greasy. Aloe vera gel supposedly helps that among a couple other things. This is going to be fun. :)

That sounds good too, I have both ingredients but I do NOT have a MBM. Can it be done without one, and if so, how?

Absolutely it can be done with out the MB2. It just makes life easier. Put oil, crush up bud and Lecithin in a crock pot and cook on low (160 degrees or so) for 4 hours. I use 1T Sunflower (not soy) lecithin per cup of oil. This helps increase the bio availability if you use it orally. I use the oil in my brownies too. Good coconut oil makes for a great tasting chocolate coconut brownie!!! :circle-of-love::peace:

Yep, you can do it in a crock pot. ALWAYS be sure the crock is on low setting. NEVER turn it above that. Just be sure your bud or trim is crushed up fairly fine. The recipes on the blog tell how to do that. You'll need good double layered cheese cloth and fine mesh strainer as well. I don't think coffee filters would work well for this due to the consistency of the coconut oil.

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

I was just going to edit to say to use the leftover bud in brownies SG. LOL
Just be sure you haven't added any non edible items while making it.

Check temps of your crock pot, you don't want it to go over 250 degrees. Some crocks run hot even at low temp.
You can do this in a pan on the stove as well, but that's a little more trouble trying to keep the temp correct.
The recipe on my blog by Beemerbill tells how to do it in the crock pot.

Cannafanny got me all excited !!!

Although Fanny thinks I've won the West...I did win 10 Great seeds from our friends at Gorilla Seeds and Critical Mass Collective, thank you very much.

One is a 1/1 THC/CBD strain that I need badly for the new twins I've just agreed to take on with epilepsy (along with 2 new cancer patients and a manic/depressive). I don't have any CBD oil, but my THC oil is stopping the seizures for the moment...how can this be? I thought seizures responded to CBD's only (thus Charlotts Web). By - the - way, they're chihuahuas. My first dog patients. The weekend health summit gave me confidence to try this. A toothpick tip with oil, rubbed into cheese = 1 minuscule dose. Parents are horrified at reaction to Vet. seizure meds. No muscle control, tongue hanging out, staring off into space....spaced out! Oil given at 9pm. After an alert evening with no seizures, the twins slept soundly all night (first time) and awakened alert and playful (for the first time since vet meds). Dosed again at noon (same minuscule dose in cheese....Joe cuts the cheese...is the joke here). No seizures for 17 hours on oil (25 hours since vet meds). Parents think this is a miracle already. Seisures are continuous without meds. I caution it's too early to draw conclusions. But I am secretly praying for them! They're so cute! Time will tell.

Thank you all for your support, without which I could not go on.

No, I know of no way to start an oil collective...illegal on too many levels...I think.

Hey Johnny.
I also have a seizure disorder. Charlotte's Web was made specifically for kids. Don't want those kids getting a buzz, you know. THC does help with seizures. I do not use a "CBD" oil and I haven't had a seizure in over a month and it was a small one. Normally I had 25 - 50 seizures a day. I do plan on growing a CBD plant to try the CBD oil, when my visitors are gone. But, CBD is not the only cannabinoid that helps prevent seizures. Like I said, it only prevents kids from experiencing the euphoria from THC.

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Just make sure you have in BIG BOLD LETTERS FOR TOPICAL USE ONLY!!!!! :circle-of-love::peace:

I always put "topical use only" on my pain oils as I also put arnica and calendula in it. I make mine rather thin as I put it in those roller ball bottles for ease of use. I also put all of the ingredients on the label as I share and do not know what folks can and cannot use.

Thanks Mighty Mouse. :)

I do want to point out that if you use Concentrated Oil in the creams/lotions, you won't get a pretty green color. It will be tinted brownish, the more oil you use.

Here's what I did with some of it today. Put a little more beeswax into one portion of the base, following a blog recipe suggestion, and it is the consistency now of lip balm. This will be great for targeting sores and cuts to heal faster. See? Where we would fail a drug test on that? LOL

I used an old face cream jar. Cleaned it out extremely well. You could probably save up old tubes of lip balm, clean them out and put your melted mixture into them. Let them cool, and now you have a great way of topically applying to a targeted small area without getting it on your hands.
