Candy Canna Multi-Strain In Candyland

Candy & Krissi I found this that ought to help
I just did some reading on neem oil. Apparently there are two different types, clarified hydrophobic extract of neem oil and cold pressed neem oil. Cold pressed neem oil contains the natural compound azadirachtin whereas the clarified extract does not. Azadirachtin has insecticidal properties as explained below. Clarified extract of neem oil kills only by smothering. I recently bought the clarified extract but I will buy the cold pressed neem oil next time since it also has insecticidal properties.
Thank you for the info West! We may have found the same or similar articles. I looked it up earlier and the Neem oil I have is the 100% cold pressed. The article I read said I could actually water with it as well 2tbsp/g but to give it just a little the day before to make sure it doesn’t have a weird reaction. Did you see that anywhere in what you were reading?

Hi Candycane the neem should really show you a lot of dead gnats in run off. Oof not in a cloth bag, nevermind, they're there! I remember seeing hundreds of them after a neem drench when I had them pretty bad. Having the dunks treatment should get the larva too! They have a 10 day life cycle.

:ciao: I’ve got the good, the bad and the Ugly update today!
I’ll start with the good in the flowering room :)
I took the flowering pics on Friday but they haven’t changed much just 2 days further along is all. The BK & GSC are on the 6gr/g MC equivalent and the BK continues to just yellow out but she has just a couple of weeks give or take to go so I think she’ll make it fine. The WW and KKF are on the 5.5gr/g MC equivalent and last but not least the SD and CK are still rolling on 5gr/g MC equivalent.
Here’s some pics

Now we have the nursery… I did lose the BB and WC..By the time the WC got the drench it was too late :( when I inspected the soil and roots there was a long root that had obviously been eaten thru. So with essentially no roots she couldn’t handle all that water. With the BB she died before I could give her a drench and there was larva all around the Peat puck going to town on the tiny amount of root that was left.:thedoubletake: Here’s a pic of those two

Now we have a couple with some ugly but I am hopeful as the SS was drenched yesterday and she seemed more perky today. The KK just had a small amount a the other day but this morning when looking closely at her soil and saw a couple of brown bugs crawling on top so since she handled the small amount she got drenched today.

Then we have the tougher girls The SW and CH+. I gave them just a small amount the other day and they did well and I haven’t seen anything crawling on top but when they dry back out they will get a drench as well.

And finally some more good in the nursery I kinda felt like the BB was a goner so I dropped another seed on 2/24 and she came up today!

Then last but not least I soaked a wedding cake seed over night and put her in a puck this morning. Now she’s snug in a warm dome awaiting hopeful germination.

This has been the biggest poop show I’ve ever had but I reckon as gardeners we are just gonna run into things sometimes and just gotta learn from them. I’ve learned to be more careful when storing soil making sure it’s completely sealed up so nothing can get in it while it’s sitting even if it’s in the house.
I hope y’all made it to the bottom thru all my rambling and hope y’all have a great day or evening! I appreciate the company, and all the help along the way! :peace::love::Namaste:

:thanks: For the info Stone! I’m hoping these Neem/Castile soap drenches along with the bits kills all them stupid buggers!

Sorry about the little ones, candy, but the "a little bit bigger" ones do look like they're going to
make it just fine...
And the big plants- they're looking great, even the yellow one's a cool shade of yellow!
The KKF and WW are real beauties- I don't think I've seen a WW turn that color before, but she sure looks nice ...

Awesome pics!
As long as you get a start on killing them, with some fan wind at soil height and the inoculation of the dunks, you should be fine. With a 10 day life cycle they need repeated doses for a short time.

Thank you C! I was pretty sad to lose the wee ones :( but I’m really hopeful for the rest and they are looking better.:meditate:

:thanks: C! Both the KKF and WW really got the pretty purple fade going on!
Awesome pics!

Check, check and check! Thank you again!
Glad you are getting your gnat situation figured out Candy. :high-five:
Thank you Boo! I’m happy to be getting them sorted finally! :high-five:
The rest?
:laughtwo: :thanks:!

We're gonna miss those little gals. It happens, and in some cases you'll never win, such as when infested with gnats. OK I'm over it. Onward and upward!
Looks like you have some work ahead of you. Some fat colas you got going on. Nicely done!
:thanks: I was pretty bummed about it :( but just had to get over it and learn from it. Thank you for the compliment on the colas as well. :)

While I’m here I may as well give a long over due update! :ciao: Hey y’all sorry for the absence and I’m trying to get caught back up with everyone! Had out of town Dr. Appts, a couple of harvests and some other junk in between. I’ll be having surgery on the 23rd so I’ll be back down to one arming it again for at least a few weeks.
Ok onto what’s been going on in the garden.. I’ll start back on 3/1/22 the 2 smaller ones KK and SS started looking really bad really quick sitting in completely soggy Neem filled soil so I decided they either die or I take them out of the soggy bug filled soil wash their roots then replant them in fresh brand new soil. That soggy soil was litterally teaming with critters when I was getting rid of the soil I had them crawling on my hands :thedoubletake: creeped me the heck out!! So that’s what I did and well within a couple of days this is what SS looked like
Unfortunately she was just too far gone :( I decided not to replace her with anything.

Now onto better news! The KK is on the mend, growing a brand new perky node that may be hard to see in the photos. She is also still using the GeoFlora nutrients and when I replanted her I added soil alive and Dynomyco to her soil.

The 2 newest girls Big Bazooka and Wedding Cake I have on 1gr/g MC. Decided to mix it up a bit and try and go with straight MC like I use to on these 2 and see how it goes.

Now we have the two bigger gals SW and CH+. In the pics they had just been drenched with the Neem/Castile soap treatment. Once the top soil dries I have been adding DE because I noticed the stupid critters coming up and crawling around the top soil. So hopefully between doing that and the drenches I can get these girls completely critter free. I topped the SW at the 6th node back on 3/3/22, waiting on the 6th node to completely come out on the CH+ then she will be topped.
Dumb question but when I transplant the SW can I bury her stem around 2 “ without causing issues? Since she’s already 39 days old today.
I also added a fan that blows super hard air underneath the crates that will hopefully keep anything going in from underneath. Anywho here’s some pics for proof of life!

Now onto the flower girls! :D I harvested WW on 3/3/22 then harvested KKF on 3/5/22

Then we have the remaining two in the 4x4 on day 71 of 12/12 on the day of the pics

Then last but not least the 2x4 on day 57 of 12/12

I hope everyone has a great one whatever time of the day it is when you read this! Thank you for stopping by, for the company, and for all the help along the way! :peace::love::Namaste:

Hey Candy, wanted to start off by saying good luck on the up coming surgery, hopefully you have a smooth recovery!

Your little ladies are fighters just like you! You’ve got them turned around way to go!
As far as your stem question is the stem hardened up or is it still pliable? If it’s hardened I wouldn’t bury it because it probably won’t grow more roots from the stem.

Congrats on your harvest's! Those ladies turned out wonderfully, there are some seriously fat buds on them and they look dense too!

Nice update, candy- your plants are looking wonderful today!
Damn- a lot's been going on in the candycane household...
Congrats on the 2 very productive harvests, and good luck on your upcoming surgery
I’ll be back down to one arming it again for at least a few weeks.

Hopefully, Mr c. will help you move your plants around during your recovery- hard (if not impossible) to do with only one arm working!

Congrats on your recent harvests, Candy! I'm sorry to hear SS died but yay for the KK reviving!

Best of luck to you on your surgery! May your recovery be swift and easy.

Dang kinda what I thought. She’s got a pretty harden stem. Reckon I’ll have to train her well and flip her sooner than normal which as late as I’m getting into the season may not be a bad thing .
Congrats on your harvest's! Those ladies turned out wonderfully, there are some seriously fat buds on them and they look dense too!
:thanks: Most of it was pretty dense but still left a lil too much and had a tad bit of fluff.
Nice update, candy- your plants are looking wonderful today!
:thanks: C!

Yessss way too much and that’s why I am days behind on answering to all these! :lot-o-toke:
Congrats on the 2 very productive harvests,
:thanks::meatballs:

Lol yes most definitely impossible to move em around. Watering is gonna be tricky because I won’t have use of my dominant arm but it’ll be doable. I’m sure the hubby will help move anything heavy around for me if need be and my mom will surely be over for the first few days helping me around the house. I’ll have my arm wrapped up for 14 days then wrap will come off and stitches and staples will come out. Just have to baby it for a bit.
Hi Candycane, congratulations on the harvests and all the great growing! Recover fast, summer's coming!
:thanks: Stone!
:ciao: Your harvest gals look amazing. :thumb: Good luck with your surgery, that’s never any fun but if it’s worth it, then it’s worth it! :hugs::love:
:thanks: Boo! :hugs::love:
Congrats on your recent harvests, Candy! I'm sorry to hear SS died but yay for the KK reviving!
:thanks: HG! I’m glad I was able to keep at least one out of the 2 alive!
Best of luck to you on your surgery! May your recovery be swift and easy.
:thanks:

:ciao:Hey everybody I wanted to make an update yesterday but by the time I finally got on here my brain was just not cooperating with me. Yesterday I had to transplant the CH+ for an emergency type thing. She took a turn for the worse and soil was still just infested even after several drenches and she was 5 days out from her last drench and still sopping wet and muddy  I gently got rid of all the soil and washed her surprisingly small amount of roots and replanted her in fresh soil, gave her a top dress with some recharge in the water when I lightly watered her in. Still looking pretty bad this morning but I’m hoping she’s just still in shock a bit and turns around but I’m not holding my breath at this point

Then I have the Skywalker Kush and she’s been Perkier just a few days ago but now she’s not dropping but not praying either. I checked her soil yesterday and checked again today and these must be superbugs or something because she is still completely infested as well :( she was also drenched 5-6 days ago and is only slightly lighter but her soil is a compact muddy mess:oops: she has quite a bit more roots than her counterpart which makes me more nervous to do a soil exchange..I talked to my local hydro guy yesterday and recommended green cleaner as a drench..I dunno I’m kinda at a loss at this point. She is due for a top dress tomorrow . should I try to gently start the soil over or give it one last go with this green cleaner drench? She’s already way wetter than I would like and it makes me think that maybe she’s so wet and compact that she can’t really drink. So any suggestions or ideas would be so very much appreciated!

C2B63343-3D3E-4A54-BB94-821A61B9E422.jpeg

Then we have the BB & WC who I have on 1gr/g MC using plain RO water as usual but they are showing some color issues with the newest growth. I have been checking the PAR and they were within the perimeters but checked the LUX and they were just slightly out of it so I turned the dial down to just under it. Thinking on the next feed bumping up to 1.5gr/g MC and see if between the LUX lowering and slight MC bump they get back to the right kind of green again.

Then there’s the tiny Kosher Kush and she has actually grown a node or and working on two (kinda hard to tell in pics) since retransplanting her but she still has some of that discoloration as well so hopefully with the LUX lowering she’ll be ok. She’s still on GeoFlora and was just top dressed and watered with RO with recharge 2 days ago.

That’s all I can fit for pics in this post but I’ve got one other good surprise I’ll have to put in another post.
I don’t know what the heck is going on this round but I feel like something is just completely working against it. I’ve had issues from time to time for a plant or two at a time but have never had this bad of a poop show! :lot-o-toke:
So if any of y’all see something I’ve missed, have suggestions, especially any suggestions on what to do about the SW whose still in super wet bug infested soil. Like try the green cleaner or just try and start with fresh soil I would be so ever grateful! She is due tomorrow for top dressing and am worried about just making it harder for her to drink because she will be even wetter. :lot-o-toke:
Thank y’all for stopping by, for the company and all the help along the way! I’ll follow up with one more thing in one more shorter post. :peace::love::Namaste:

My daughter came down this weekend and on Saturday she helped me harvest Pre-98 BK. Next up on the chopping block is GSC she will be 10 weeks in actual flower tomorrow and is starting to foxtail and started popping wieners and her drinking has slowed. Gotta check her trichs again but I was seeing quite a bit of Amber a few days ago. Here’s some pics of BK

Love the harvest Candy , bugs got to go . Did you ever get the sns 209 you can drench the soil with it . It won’t kill them but keeps them from doing a lot of damage @Grand Daddy Black had this problem through his last grow. I also agree with Boo go ahead and change the soil .
@FelipeBlu see what he thinks !

Congrats on the Pre-98 BK harvest! She looked good even if your current ones don't. I wish I could help you figure out what's going on with them but I really don't know. Hopefully, more experienced growers will weigh in.
