I have been thinking of starting a photo period feminized plant inside in April and then transplanting outside for the summer months till Aug and then bring it in to flower. where I live it gets frost usually first week of Sept. Anyone do this with their plants and any advice.....

i think mid august plants in ontario start showing flower outside and are easy 6 or more feet in height if in ground. there are alot of people on here that drag pots indoors if chance for frost in sept. at night but go back outside in day.

Hey Chungo - I'm in the Barrie area and grow outdoors and in a small greenhouse. My outdoor gals are under glass cover (I hope) - damn 2 x 4 prices went thru the roof!!! So back to the bush to pick out some nice cedar posts!!!
Anyway...you can get away with a few frosts, especially if they are under cover. I wonder if anyone has tried uprooting an inground plant and placing the root ball in a planter indoors to finish??
I don't have much experience so.... :hmmmm:

Awww yes.....Thee ol' Canadian Pot plant shuffle ... Gotta love our Canadian weather!... When I usually start a grow its in a tent indoors in February with regular photo seeds then I grow them out for a month and half or two, Then sex them and separate out the males and grow them in a separate grow area for pollen collection, Then I keep the strong females as mothers and start taking female or male clones by end of april, Then when lighting is 13hrs or more I put them outside under plastic clear totes with mulch or hay around the outer area of the ground near the plant, even if I keep them in pots learn that from an old hippy lol.... When the end of September comes I usually cover them the same way I covered them in the beginning when they first started of course with bigger tote covers.... Like Greenjeans said the plants can take a few frosts, If all else fails when the weather is not working with you .... You could do like I do and a lot of others do and have another setup in a shed or garage specifically to handle finishing your out door plants under a hps light or led.. without contaminating your indoor grow area with outdoor plants. :) As for taking a large cannabis plant out of the ground and potting it to finish indoors I don't see why you couldn't get away with that, seeing as in we all up pot potted plants all the time gardening.... I figure If we treat the cannabis plant root ball like a small tree root ball we should be able to put a large cannabis plant in a large container to finish growing under grow lights indoors from outside. I think as long as you keep all or most of the root system intact the cannabis plant should bounce back and continue to grow. :)

If you're thinking pots, it's doable, but I don't know if that timeline is really going to work.
I have brought pots inside to trigger flowering earlier, leaving the plants outdoors for 12 hours, then bringing them in to a darkroom at night. It's a pain in the ass, and you can't let your plants get very big before you start, or they get too big to manage. If you want to do this you'll need to keep them in pots, and with all the limitations on size and how long you can leave them out, you're probably better off going with autos.
Photo plants in the ground get big. Even if you wanted to dig the rootball up and move it to a planter you'll be placing a huge stress on the plant just as it's transitioning to flower, if it survives. Even indica plants get pretty tall, and if you top or LST them to control their height that gets converted to width.

Thanks for all the input. My idea is to start one plant under my lights and move it outside in its rubber maid 40 liter container (I have used these for my indoor plants) and burry it in my garden till the end of Aug. Then dig up and put the plant back under lights to finish flowering over Sept-Oct. I would trim up the plant as it grows in the garden to control growth (manafold). My grow area is 4X6 and can accommodate a plant about 4-4.5 feet tall. So the manifolding would be to train the plant horizontally. This would be the only plant in the grow area.......Any thoughts on bringing in the plant and pests from the garden?.....The reason I am doing this is to see if this can reduce some of the cost of the electric bill during the grow and if it works incorporate it next years grow.....Thanks

What i do outdoors:
add 1/4(recommended dose ) docktor doom, neems' oil, etc (what ever you like) to your regular foliar spraying, spray ground too if your not covering with something. plants won't care but if worried start with small area and see how plants react first. It will kill insects and eggs before it becomes a problem. Stop when flower starts to show.

question; am i only canadian thats puts salt and vinegar on hash browns and treat them like giant french fry??
lmao... Nope cause believe it or not the other day my wife and I used hash browns to make a poutine! ...Must be a Canadian thing we sure do love our taters! ;)

Just be careful about the width too. Unless you've got double doors or barn doors. You should really look through the outdoor threads on here, and outdoor grow journals. They'll give you a better idea of how big the plants we're talking about really are. They look small until you get them inside.
I really do hope this works out for you.
