Anybody growing autos outside? I'm in Victoria and average temps are 72°F - 22°C in July and August. That's my window for growing here. It will also rain. I'm planning to start them inside june 1st is my goal for germination in my tent. I think I'm going to grow in soil. What size pots should I grow in. Should I use a 5 gallon?

Here's Betty in my Gorilla Glue Auto grow. She is getting sticky.

If you want huge plants I say straight in the ground. If you have to move them, as big as you can move
the huge stalks I grew needed lots of root space. Same plant in 3 gal container never got very big
I might put some in pots to keep them small but as far as growing monsters I'll have to find a new spot. Just attract to much attention
Best get some kind of canopy to keep them dry near the end :goodluck:

Got to put them on deck. Best sun and away from the dear. I just don't know how big of a fabric pot I might need for an auto outside. I have a 15 gallon fabric but I think it may be over kill. I'm thinking 10 gallon but also think 5 gallon is all I really need.

Hey neighbor!
I would start an auto indoors in May , start climatizing < my brain won’t spell this word haha in June in our climate truthfully but it would depend on the strain .

can wait to see how you do!

For autos I've heard 5 gallon as a general consensus before. The thinking was that 3 gallon requires more care/feeding, and a 7 gallon was considered a bit of wasted space. I don't know if people still feel that way, or if being outdors would change things.

Just my $0.02, but I haven't grown autos yet. They're on my list for this winter.

I guess it depends on the strain I know this would not fit in a 5gal pot
That's just the big part who know how much small roots & how far they went

I'm currently growing my first auto's using 2 different size pot and 2 different soils. It's been a learning curve for sure. I have so many auto seeds that have been given to me. Only growing 4 at a time and staying legal. I don't think I will grow autos after I use all of my seeds I have.

Yes it is It is called a super auto
the stem from my second year growing it
came up by itself from seeds it dropped
I pollenated it with a male super auto

Anybody growing autos outside?
Hi PD. I grew 3 White Widow autos outside last summer. One of them was a runt. The other 2 grew almost a meter tall and produced about 200g total. This year I'm going to sprout some different kinds around 10 May, to finish late July. I used Rubbermaid totes with about 40L of Veranda mix. The containers were bigger than necessary but easy to move around.

Near Kingston. Most gardening starts around the May 24 weekend. Photos start flowering 1st August. Have one of those mini Mars600 for seedlings to come in/out before the last risk of frost. If you can pull them inside or even a porch on cool nights is a bonus.

Your may and June look similar to our July and August. I'm not worried about frost in July and August. I figure they can veg in my tent in June and Finnish July and August. I just not sure about pot size.

i'm on southwest shore of georgain bay, the elephants asshole. I'm between owen sound and sauble beach, about 30min drive to ferry in tobermory.

elephants asshole explained for people not from southern ontario. southern ontario is in shape of elephant; detriot is end of trunk and owen sound is the butt hole.

Lake Huron but close enough.

@Mustang92 Man I hope you're a sailor. Georgian Bay, Manitoulin and the north channel are pretty sweet for boaters
