Canadian Growers Group & Friends

I sure hope the rest of you are having better weather than I am... man this sucks! It hasnt stopped raining since I got up at 6am, and you could tell it rained most of the night. Its nearly 4pm now, no signs of stopping anytime soon.
You wanna borrow my boat to get to your crops? lol.... Hate to say it but more of that weather is coming I'm dealing with the same stuff over here. Oh and yes the big S they where calling for maybe tonight here :( Glad all my ladies are tucked away in the grow tent in the shed, time to start setting up the indoor in house grow. still might keep a plant in the shed and push how far I can keep it alive in the shed with very lil heat. ;)

Im not sure what your shed looks like, but if I were you and was pondering the idea of growing in the shed during the winter months, sure some cheap insulation could go a long way.
But also, I would think about changing the roof on it slightly, allow the snow to accumulate ontop, great insulator

One step ahead of ya sir already insulated r40 rating in roof and r20 in the walls. 12ft x 16ft mini garage lol :) Just trying to figure a safe way to heat without breaking the bank.

Well right on then!
Some of the space heaters have built in fire protection etc.
Itl turn off automatically if overheated, or if tipped over.

Why not build a little corner room? Frame up two short walls in a corner and you got a much smaller space to heat. I did that in the first place we lived up here. Had a 20 x 24' heated garage all insulated but I framed up a 12'x 5' space with 5 x 6' separate flower space inside. Just don't vent into an unheated attic in the winter. Ask me why not. :D

Frozen condensation?
I have no idea lol

Come springtime and the first warm day I go out to check on the plants and it's raining in the garage. I grabbed the step-ladder and the flashlight and popped open the access hatch. Was a f'n winter wonderland up there! Really bad over in the corner where the exhaust blew up from the room. Icicles everywhere and what looked like 6" of snow covering the joists and insulation.

It always goes back to freezing again so it didn't all melt at once. The furnace just had a sheet metal front and the air blasted out of a 6" duct. Full size gas furnace like for a medium size house. I put an elbow and duct on it facing up into a 6" hole I cut in the ceiling to blow air without the heat into the attic. Ice evaporates even with freezing air so I ran that furnace fan 24/7 with a window open a bit so it could pull in fresh air and blow it out the vents at each end of the attic. I luckily got cold weather for the next month and by then it was mostly gone.

I had to cut a 6" hole in the floor to blow it under the garage and the jig saw couldn't handle that. Borrowed a reciprocating saw from a buddy. The sub-floor was solid 2x4s spiked together on their sides with 1" tongue and groove plywood on top. Parked my '85 Olds Royal Brougham in there and the floor didn't even creak. I wouldn't have the furnace on when parked so the salty slush on the undercarriage wouldn't melt. The garage was just sitting on skids with no foundation.

Moral of the story is just don't vent into the attic. Even if it doesn't freeze that warm moist air is going to get mould going for sure.

Cold comes back down in and good chance for Mold forming in attic. I built a room last year like that, but I took it down for more room and wanted to use a grow tent, plus I want to figure out a a way to heat the entire shed passively so I can grow year round and keep me and the plants alive through out the winter in there. In the end I would like to have my entire growing operation in one area and not partially in my house during winter. ;)

Hey almost forgot to give everyone an update on here on my Cloudy lake strain F2 seed grow... You know the one using the O'natural way behind the wood pile type baby making grow, well it worked... lol...Fresh outta momma plant... say hello to Cloudy Lake f2's!!! one more step to a more stable seed! ;)

Lil update today harvested last night from only 4 small buds from the Cloudy Lake 3ft plant 77... nice dark f2 beans :)... Still have most of the plant to harvest. :) The blue circle in 2nd picture is the size of the nugs I took the seeds from and the orange lid container is showing half the seeds collected, took pic before I poured the rest in.
