Burning Lights on Cold Winter Nights

pj giving great advice there. feeding these things is like driving a hot air balloon. it takes a bit to get a reaction once you want to change something. like a week or so before one notices a reaction to fertalizer. well just think what can happen in that week, like not seeing improvement right away and adding more fert or similar. must be super patient and super chinsey on the fert, specially with younguns. I have a tiny over fert issue I am dealing with, but tiny, so go easy with ferts, biggest mistake I have made so far

-what a warped creature :/ does anyone know why this happened?
- I have found the plant to be slightly firm in the leaf groups... Starting to think after this long I have created a separate issues from the other issues (bad soil+ph water) hmmm any ideas more than appreciated

How often do you water this one? The soil looks pretty wet. I had similar issues where she looked wrinkled and bloated and I think it was overwatering. I started letting the top inch or 2 of soil dry out before watering again and she went back to being a normal little plant.

Looking good though. I gotta get my hands on some white widow.

Dchannn .. it's a lot easier to just lift her .. have a control pot with just dry soil in it as a reference for dry weight. Soil dries faster at the pot edge .. your test might not be telling how wet the 'core' of the soil is.

After doing this for about a week, the control is not needed any more .. you will be able to judge any container on moisture content by lifting it at that time.

Paka, I think they were trying to help out Dchannn? I don't think he's doing a scrog. Also, you have a point, I don't think you could use the lift method with scrog.... but I've never grown that way so don't know for sure. I use it with my soil grow and it works great for me.
If I were to do scrog, I think I'd invest in a moisture meter... a lot cheaper than a half dozen bathroom scales.
:Namaste:
How do you guy do the lift test when your girl is locked under a scrog? I should get a bunch of those analog bathroom scales and put em under my pots.

Kind words sir, I see the heat "at plant level" is 80ish. But in the grow room it is always around 65-75. I am thinking a fan to blow on the lights level, to create the wind effect of a natural cooling breeze?

- I also used some tie downs to gently tug the branches down on both ladies. My little boot camp for the LST I plan to attempt(I have enjoyed reading and researching the LST).

- paka- you are very clever. I am glad I looked into your grow.

- Beateo- my photo skills are, how do we say..... "Inspired" at the moment. ;)
- whatever it takes to keep a grade a grower looking over me.

All the best

Mine are all SCROG-ed too .. you do not lift them more then just a little .. 4mm is more then enough to gauge the strength it takes to lift her. Unless you bolted her down to the SCROG net :p

Gotcha. I am still new to the game so I was genuinely curious how to do the lift test under a scrog net. I was serious about the scale thing. Would this be feasible? 5 gallon pots should show large enough differences in weight that a scale could actually be used? I love this hobby because you can be as simple or as extravagant as you want. This also seems like innovation is everywhere. I love it.

since when does watering a plant involve meters and scales and gauges and widgets for goodness sake,, it's water and it's a plant. combine the two but not too often.

i can lift my plant in it's scrog, just enough to know dry. it weighs one tenth as much dry, not hard to tell. and..... get a schedule going,, every three days?? four?? get a routine. let your plant show you how long it takes to get thirsty. it darn near jumps out and tells ya. it get's a bit droopy then water it. it has to get extremely droopy to die. scales, meters, gauges,, just to water????? imagine what you might need when you have to fertilize??? have to dig up big blue for you,, sheesh. less is more

i hear ya nivek, but some people arent physically well enough to be lifting a 5 gallon pot of wet soil all the time.

new ideas and improvements in things we already have can be good, and fun and for some totally unnecessary. i love innovations and improving things we already have. i would have never thought to spray pee on my plants. could have just stuck with water and ferts. kept it simple, but its curiosity and ingenuity that makes us human.

oh my, silly me,, i never even thought of big huge pots,, me and me tiny one galloners, so sorry. coffee too good this morning. but seriously,, watering should not be so complicated, it's the easiest part of growing, indoors and out,, everything else about growing is more involved, complicated, and important than the watering. though obviously, watering is important. top plant in the pic looks perfect. bottom one,, i have seen that look, in outdoor seedlings, primroses maybe,, not sure what to make of it,, could be just the strain characteristics or maybe something else. over watering maybe. i dunno for sure,, sorry for the abruptness on my part, cheers

Scale would work a little ... but it will get more heavy as it grows .. so it will still be ballparking. How much of this weight is added due to buds and branches developing ? How much did altering the SCROG affect the weight distribution ? Dit bending that branch over there have en effect on the weight ? It wont really work.

If you can afford scales for your pots, you can also afford a water probe that tells you how your soil is doing at the place where you stuck it in ;)
Really tho, the easiest way is just to push a finger 2 inches deep .. if dry, water. With 5gal containers that is. If I push a finger 2 inches deep into my 11 liter pots, I will damage the roots :p

- I have to say, tonight as I looked over my grow journal I was very grateful to see what this simple and powerful plant is capable of. As we shield our true identity, we all put aside our differences for the good of one common interest. To share wisdom, explore creativity, and medicate those in need. Feeling truly grateful to have you guys looking over the grow.

Good vibes to all the grow rooms-

All the best

Dchannn,
We sweat, do all kinds of mental gymnastics over-thinking the situation, and despite our own uncertainty and occasional ignorance, they do all they can to live and make it seem like we know what we're doing! :) A few weeks ago you were asking if you were being paranoid about the girl's condition.... turns out you WERE!! They look fantastic now!
That's the very first lesson I really paid heed to..... we shouldn't over react to every little spot on a leaf! You're doing a great job so far brother.... keep it up. :)
:Namaste:
