Buckshot's Perpetual Grow, LED, Pro-Mix, Evolving Feeding Routine

Wow all of the girls look great. BIDs is really calling me. She is loving your grow. And all that hash...there's quite a bit of time well spent in those containers.

Thank You! Did you smoke one before you wrote that :cheesygrinsmiley:

Looking good in your grow room Buck. The plants all look wicked nice. What is the s girl? I've seen many pics of her on your journal over the generations but have never known what strain she comes from. She's always looking sexy though.

I would shit my pants if I saw a green Yeti :cheesygrinsmiley: S Girl comes from S :cheesygrinsmiley: S claims that S Girl is a hash bud plant. She was the only one to grow of many seeds and I consider myself lucky to have her after all these years! Thanks S

I'm sure if you had any of that S girl with you it would cover the scent of the load in you pants :cheesygrinsmiley: it is good you were able to get one to grow. No matter what he make up is she's a great looking strain!

Would you recommend PRO-MIX® BX MYCORRHIZAE as an outdoor medium?

If not, what would be a good mix for outdoor? Please excuse my ignorance :)

I'll appreciate any advice or suggestion

Hello Humanzee

Well that is really not an easy question. It depends on you, size, containers or in the earth and cages. Pro-Mix is a light medium even when packed so picture a big container, tall plant, rain and wind. The plant would get loose and possibly totally uprooted. Cages and fences around the plant are needed to keep branches from breaking but they also help keep the plant rooted during bad weather. I plant in a 5 gallon container well packed then plant right into the ground I have poor soil so I have been composting my used promix, leaves, seaweed and house waste and adding to the surrounding soil. Even after the plant roots into the surrounding soil the trunk is in Pro-Mix so it can get loose. Now the you part... Pro-Mix drains well so you have to keep on it. If you are going to plant in containers black ones can get so hot they cook your plants so shade the pots this will also prevent the Pro-Mix from drying out. Good Luck

I would think that being from the pine tree state that having piney trees would be a good thing :cheesygrinsmiley:!

Hope ya don't mind my 2 cents,, I feel the same about the Pro-Mix. Stuff if great for smaller plants that you want to feed often. But it lacks the substance, for a good earthy soil. I lost acouple plants that dried out super fast with it outdoors. I like the Black Gold organic mix myself. Add afew goodies, worm crap, bone meals etc. and you have a good all around soil. Girls looked great.

I'm sorry, I'm barely beginning to grasp mixes and what's proper..

How do you think a mix of these ingredients would turn out?

40% General Organics Ancient Forest Humus Soil Amendment
20% Premier Horticulture 2.8CF Pro Mix BX Loose with Biofungicide
20% Coconut Coir
10% Perlite
5% Charcoal
5% Hydroton
(?)% Fish Meal

I'm also considering adding some Plant Revolution Plant Success and Nature's Solution Organic Mycorrhizae

I have come to these ingredients and percentages through pure guesswork, so don't hold me too accountable. :cheesygrinsmiley:
I'd probably just guess the actual amounts I use, unless someone recommends using more precise measurements when it comes time to mix.

What do you think of adding Growstone Gnat Nix! on top, worthwhile?

It's funny, I found this journal by searching for feedback on Fox Farms Ocean Forest. I found a post in which you talk about how and why you stopped using it. I'm still unsure if I'm going to be implementing it in my mix. Would you recommend adding it in 20-25%, while replacing the Ancient Forest Humus ? Or does the mix I have above simply make Fox Farms unnecessary?

I'd love to hear anything you guys suggest adding/taking away from what I listed above.

I'm a total newb who appreciates all the advice you guys have to offer! :thanks:

I don't know about most of those products let alone mixed like that... could be great, could be disaster. Read NC's post above, great advice for buckets... look at his gardens!! I have not had great luck with Fox Farms but one of the growers here James the Green uses Fox Farms outside in huge containers and gets incredible results

Thanks for stopping in Reg

James the Green; Do you know how he & wifey's doing?

I have been using PJ's mix for this run which uses FFOF and Pro Mix and it has been fantastic. Pretty easy to put together for sure. My Pro Mix is actually reused old PM from earlier runs that I keep and it has been working great. Thrice in pots and then into the outside beds is the plan currently.

Big autos are in my AK future for an outdoor summer grow. It is interesting to see what people use outside vs indoor.

Awesome Henry Ford quote by the way. Never seen that one before. Nice.

Do you mind directing me to PJ's mix? Like I said before, I'm totally shooting in the dark right now.

Which type of Pro Mix have you used in combination with fox farm, and what else did you add to the mix?

Thanks guys!
