BrixNewb's First Grow & Beyond

At this count, there are seven of us, including you, having the same problem. I really don't think it's you Brix.

Hundreds of users.....7 reporting trouble. Could you all be helping eachother perhaps?

as you know from all the other threads where you're telling people the problem is the kit, or a bad batch, or a "new" cat drench.....I'm taking this seriously and have identified some commonalities with the 7 folks with issues:

1. fabric pots
2. not using TP in veg
3. not getting a good rootball due to transplanting too early, and more than once
4. Over spraying of foliars

These may not be the actual issues---we won't know until we know for sure that something hasn't changed with the lab or with Promix.....but these are the most likely issues.

I use the same exact products from the same exact tote as everyone on this forum and everyone in the world who uses my gear. I do not have these problems at all.

Then again, I don't:

use fabric pots
skip TP in veg
fail to grow a good root system
transplant too early or more than once
over spray foliars.

Perhaps a version of "group think" has occurred, with everyone supporting eachother into the same basic errors? I dunno....but I'm basically doing nothing until I solve this issue.

I have never really consulted with SweetSue much on advice, I generally head to the directions or your thread. I am headed there now to answer some questions you had and go from there.

Yeah.... This idea that I tell anyone how to use the kit makes me giggle. :laughtwo: It's ok, we straightened it all out, at least as far as we could Brix.

I stopped to make sure you knew that Doc is going to walk Gazoo through his entire grow, explaining at every step the hows, and the whys of his cultivation decisions. This is an opportunity for us to get it right - all of us - and I didn't want you overlooked.

I hope to see you in the massive crowd that's bound to be following. We may be able to make it into a manual when we're done, although I don't know if that's occured to anyone else. Certainly sounds like something I could sink my teeth into.

This strain man.....Kali AK or Kali 47. The structure on my plant almost ready to harvest is amazing. Tons of tops, made a nice canopy all by itself, and I expect the yield will be good despite some problems by me. But the ones in veg just won't get onboard with acting right. Granted, I may have oversprayed them, but they are acting wild to this day. Going to take a clone from each and see if I can't get it to work one last time.

So I am still TRYING the chem nutes and that poor little clone is YELLOW and TINY! Meanwhile the same clone in kit soil is 3x the size and looks perfect. I really have a black thumb and the kit shines despite it.

Other than that things are moving along nicely. The girls in the bloom tent are doing well, although I found some mites on the lower fans of one plant. Gave it a good Leaf Wash but haven't seen any mites on other leaves. I have a funky branch on Blueberry that I will have to get a picture of one day. The branch transitioned from a normal round shape into an oval and started stacking nodes double or triple time.

Veg tent is humming along, no real complaints except for the Kali AK that just doesn't want to get onboard. Afraid her time is coming to an end soon.

She was a touchy strain for me as well. I tried running the strain for quite a while but finally just let it fall from the list.
I had some nice buds from them, but in the end I just found it much easier to grow other things.
On the other hand, I might not be the most patient of growers.

You know, it's a damn shame, because her structure is absolutely amazing. No need to train and she brings out a ton of tops with a pretty even canopy. Beyond that her buds are stacked and a decent girth. I am going to clone her one more time before I flip these two and see what she does, I am not going to give up on her just yet.

Alright guys, I was talking about my weirdo Blueberry plant with the funky branch, so I took some pictures today. Not sure how it will yield, but it's definitely interesting to see. About halfway up the branch transitions from a normal branch into a flattened oval and is producing nodes at least twice as often as normal.

The next plant is quite interesting. Normally most of my plants tend to smell the same to me, but the Jack Herer I am currently growing is absolutely amazing! It smells just like blueberry muffins. I couldn't believe it when I smelled it myself, but it does.

That's all I have for today, I just posted a cloning how-to linked in my signature. I have adapted my cloning routine from a bit of things learned from Tead and Sue and a little bit from other places as well.

Hey guys, little update today. I had a slight mite issue, but I bought some beneficial mites and whatnot and it appears that they sorted the situation out rather well. The new girls going into the bloom room will be treated to Leaf Wash to keep things nice and clean from here out.

I have done a couple harvests, pulled down all the Ultra Dog girls and also got one Dusted Bud Super Sour Lime in jars. It seems that the COBs have pumped up my yield nicely. I was averaging 3.0-3.5 ounces per plant previously with HID and now with the COBs I am seeing 4.0-4.3 ounces per plant so far. Really nice surprise. These lights will pay for themselves within a year it seems.

Things are humming along beyond that. I have a couple CBD plants in the bloom tent now, Alphakronik's Tesla which is High CBD and low THC, then a couple other plants as well. Excited to see how CBD works.

Very nice!

Well today when I opened my bloom tent I noticed that my Blueberry x Harlequin bx from Strayfox Gardens had hermied on me. This was one of my CBD strains, so I have to get some more beans in the ground because I am trying to get some CBD in my stash. I have three beans left, so hopefully luck is on my side. I had been holding on to two Kali AK 47 clones I took, they are ready for the flip any time. These plants look like hell from start to finish for some reason, but the plant's structure is nothing to snicker at. I am chopping the mother tomorrow, so within the week I should know if she is a keeper. If not I will chop the one I just flipped and the other clone and move up Huckleberry Diesel.

Other than that nothing much to report. I have a plant that was sent as a tester, A-tonic x Rebel OG x Herijuana, it just came out of Cat Drenches and is just looking great. I have a high CBD/low THC Tesla plant just starting to flower as well. Those two make up my current CBD stable. I was just going through my beans because I need to get something in the ground and I had forgotten how many seeds I had bought on my spending spree a little while back. I think Bodhi Seeds Clusterfunk is going to be the next to go in soil.

I had a good day today. I put my second Dusted Bud Genetic's Super Sour Lime in jars and got a weight on it. Grown in a 7 gallon soft pot it yielded me 5.4 ounces. That's a new personal best for me. I get down on myself about the way my plants look, but with yields like that I surely can't complain! These COBs are absolutely killing it!

Today I got a Kali Mist x AK 47 (Kali 47/Kali AK depending on who you ask) in the jars. Got this strain as a clone from Tead. Wasn't a very tall plant, but had a ton of tops. She looked terrible from start to finish, Tead said he stopped growing her because of it. This girl put just over 5.5 ounces in the jars for me from one 7 gallon pot. Very happy with these huge improvements in yield lately. Got a smoke report, quality is very good with a focused energetic buzz. Cheers to you Tead! Going to keep this Ugly Betty around a while longer.

And the hits just keep coming! My second OG Kush clone from Tead came down recently. This one got a bit longer veg in a 7 gallon pot before it was flipped since I knew she doesn't stretch at all. Got her in the jars today. 6.75 ounces. These weights are absolutely insane to come from 3-3.5 ounces per plant previously.

I don't have words for how happy that makes me. You grow in a larger world and pump them up much bigger than I. It's just super fun to see plants I've been growing smallish for years explode into big plants. Kinda like sending your child off to college and they actually get good grades.

I've made a touch of a faux pas in my world. Popping seeds left and right, but forgot to keep the OGK line going and had to shove my last OGK back into re-veg. Should be fine... done it many times. Just in case.... did you clone the OGK?

Speaking of seeds, I popped a seed marked 'PLINY LIGHTS x CALI DREAM' that appears to be a Dusted Buds product. After doing some googling, I came up a touch empty handed. Any words/experiences regarding the strain?

I think it's more like they go to their crazy uncle's house who has a bigger pantry and they end up fat.

I have two OGK clones in veg right now, they are probably a month and a half old. I shouldn't need them both, but even if I do I will clone for sure.

That was a tester strain from Dusted Bud. If he brought it to market I haven't seen it. I would guess it's his Cali Dreamin crossed with Pacific Pine, but I am probably wrong. I grew it out once, but beyond that I won't be much help. I just recently harvested Super Sour Lime OG and it was another top shelf strain from him. No shit there hasn't been a strain I got from Dusted Bud that wasn't absolute top shelf. And a lot of what I have grown were testers, not even released strains. I hope it works in your environment because I think you will really like it.

Awesome!
Tead knows where to go if things turn ugly with the reveg. I just gotta say it again... Tead feels a bit like a proud papa.

Thanks for the Dusted Bud info. I might have to send them a photo of their genetics when it gets big.

No worries. Dusted Bud actually uses one of my pictures for one of their strains. That really geeked me out, being a newb grower.

I just finished up chopping down Jack Herer. It's washed, trimmed, and in the drying tent until she is ready. This plant was on the shorter end of what I grow, so I am interested to see if height has a huge impact on yield. Purple Punch S1 will take her place in the bloom tent. It was a freebie I got that's a bit lanky, but I am interested to see how she does.

Purple Punch should be really good if it's the same purple punch In House uses for their crosses. My Black Cherry Punch is a purple punch cross and they are next level as far as frost and smells, I can't wait to try them. One smells like sweet cherry candy and the other has amazing coloring. That one doesn't smell like cherries but it does smell really good. I got about 2 weeks before I pull them. I know purple punch seeds when in stock are crazy expensive. Good luck with that beauty.

I honestly don't know what breeder the Purple Punch is from, it simply came from Neptune as a freebie on one of their freebie cards and said "Purple Punch S1". They do sell In House Genetics, so it could be IHG. Not sure though. Of three femmed seeds I only got one to grow. I have cloned it, we will see how she turns out.
