BrixNewb's First Grow & Beyond

Things are moving along in the tents, nothing much to report. I haven't been pulling the bigger girls out of the tent for drenches, so no pictures. I did want to show of Dusted Bud's Super Sour Lime OG that I am growing. This is a clone I took from a previously harvested plant. Flipped 11/21, she is looking absolutely beautiful and bud sites are looking delicious!

Elegant plant. I'm looking forward to the next few weeks to see what happens.

Merry Christmas to all! I have to get to bed here shortly so Santa can pass, but going to give a little update before I am off to slumberland and then wakeup to presents! Today I pulled Blueberry and A-tonic x Rebel OG x Herijuana from the bloom tent. Hoping to find some time tomorrow night to give them the axe and a nice cleaning before setting them to dry. The yield on Blueberry will be low, she stayed short and the buds never seemed to bulk up for me. The A-tonic on the other hand should be a nice haul, she is supposedly a CBD plant. Going to get her tested eventually and see what I am working with.

The couple blueberries I did didn't yield well for me either. Then they lost their blueberry smell after they dried. I ran 2 of DJ Short's blueberry. I think those were the worst HB plants I've ever done. I would kill for a real smelly blueberry cut. I have a ton more seeds but don't want anymore clunkers. Some of these indicas need to veg forever to yield well for me. I like to get a minimum of 3 zips from a plant with a normal veg time. It has to be pretty special to hang on to anything that produces less than that.
I hope you and the missus had a great Christmas, and Happy New Year bud!

The Blueberry is in the drying tent now, we will see how she turns out. I would be really surprised to hit 3 ounces and they didn't smell like blueberry at all while the Jack Herer smelled like blueberries throughout the grow and even after cure. The Jack Herer isn't a top tier smoke either, so I culled the clone. Dusted Bud got me spoiled to top tier product, so all the older commercial seeds I have just aren't cutting the mustard for the most part. The only indica that I have that really required a long veg is Tead's OG Kush cut. An extra month in a 7 gallon pot is needed to really maximize the plant. I have one in bloom now that I transplanted and lipped, want to see how that effects yield versus vegging for an extra month.

We did have a good Christmas and we will see about the New Year, but I am sure it will be good. I think about you and the missus from time to time, I hope you both are well and that she is conquering each and every day.

In the garden I was playing around the other day, I have this Tesla from Alphakronik that just has the most amazing colors. It doesn't looked like the yield will be impressive, especially for a plant as tall as she is, but we shall see. I was trying to figure out how to take good pictures, but as you can see, mission failed.

Holy crap... a 7 gallon OGK!!!! Crazy man. It'll need a good bit of defoliation... she's a mighty thick girl.

Yeah, in the kit 7 gallon pots are the minimum recommended. They do quite well in the pots. The one I just flipped I actually defoliated all the way up to the very top of each branch when I flipped. Only keeping the tip tops and whatever can grow from time of flip on this OGK. Got another one in veg in a 7 gallon to see what I can pull from her.

I was able to get a weight on Blueberry and the A-tonic x Rebel OG x Herijuana today. Blueberry actually did much better than I expected. She was a short plant and yielded 3.1 ounces. A-tonic x Rebel OG x Herijuana was a very tall girl and she only yielded 3.6 ounces. She is supposed to be a CBD strain, so I am going to get her tested and see what the cannabinoids look like. Tester reported that it had an additional component to the high that gave an overall good feeling, so I am interested.

To me in my world, when I see the OGK dump the fan leaves quickly at flip, it tells me I'm not feeding it enough.
On the other end of that equation, when they get close to overfeed, the leaves take on a drastically rubbery appearance that tells you you're close to the limit.
Of course, these are hydro concepts that may not really apply to the HiBrix world.

It's very likely it wasn't fed enough. OG's are difficult in living soil, especially High Brix. They LOOOOVE salts and the roots are not so efficient in soil.

Really?!?! Wow. Not surprised really... been growin 'em in water forever.
His exact pheno of the OGK is a real beast of a plant when given the chance. I know BN has fallen it love with her a touch.... so I suspect we'll see a good many OGK HiBrix grows in the coming year.

A true OG actually comes out "better" in salts. I've been able to get them to come out "great" in High Brix, but the flavor, while familiar, if a tad different than when grown in hydro.

On the other hand, many strains that are just average in hydro come out all new and wonderful in living soil. Landrace and simple crosses come out best of all.

Interesting stuff. I am going to have to make sure I give the OG Kush a nice foliar spraying.

I was working in the garden this evening and I brushed against a Huckleberry Diesel plant that I hadn't previously paid much attention to. She let off a sweet candy scent that had me in love! I realized that I hadn't cloned that particular Huckleberry Diesel plant, but I did clone a different pheno. Looks like I am going to have to try that reveg idea you planted a while back Tead.

Ridiculously simple.
I can't imagine you'll have any real problem from it.
I have plenty of new growth on mine that I'm now gonna clip up for a new set of OGK clones.

Yeah, I am not too worried about it.

Despite the freezing temps I have to run my window AC. Well I guess the other night it actually froze up. Temps reached 95 in the bloom tent, but the girls aren't showing any issues. And the AC is just fine too. Had me freaking out all day though.

Today I have the task of getting Tesla chopped and on the drying rack. Interested for this girl, going to get her tested along with another strain (A-tonic x Rebel OG x Herijuana) and see what the CBD content looks like as well as the other terpenes and whatnot.

I got one of my Chemblazzin plants in the jars. She gave right at 100 grams and was a taller plant, so I am not growing this pheno out anymore. The other pheno smells quite different and is nice and bulky. Still need to get a test smoke on the pheno in jars though.

The garden is doing well, no complaints here. Hope all is well with everyone.

Yes! Get some tested. Especially the CBD strains. Not all CBD strains are high in CBD. You have to find the right phenotype. I clone everything I plan on keeping until it gets tested. Then I decide if it meets my criteria, if not, it dies. Let me know if you need any help from me for testing.
:peacetwo:

Will do Neiko! Probably going to be about a month before they go out for testing.

I got Tesla in the jars. The plant was a bit skimpy, so I wasn't expecting much, but she gave me just over 3 ounces.

At this time the drying tent is pretty packed, I have a Super Sour Lime OG from Dusted Bud in there, a Kali AK I got from Tead, and a Chem Blazzin from Strayfoxgardens. Good times! I am unable to access the website very often so I will be back when I can. See you soon!

Hey guys! Just able to jump on real quick. I got these three girls in jars. Super Sour Lime OG gave 95 grams, Kali AK gave just over 2 ounces, and Chemblazzin gave around 2.5 ounces. These numbers are a lot lower than previous plants that these clones came from, but I have been experimenting with different defoliation and trimming and most recently eliminating AC from the grow room and dimming the lights to bring temps in line. Thanks for riding along.
