BrixNewb's First Grow & Beyond

No worries, mate! :cheesygrinsmiley:

This'll be an opportunity, heheh. I'd recommend doing water after this and then back to another Cat, sort of a Cat/GE rotation. That should work out just fine - you have 6 weeks left?

Ok, so today the lady and I spent the afternoon with Tead and his lady as well as a friend of his. We sat and talked, had dinner, then coffee. Good times were had. I also brought Tead a Blue Dream that I had in veg, be interesting to see how that works out for him. When I got home I decided to take some pictures of the current girls before chopping down my Dusted Bud plant.

Blue Dream Clone #1 and #2 are both doing alright. I am experimenting on both of them, did not get to lollipop these since I was in Jamaica with the High Brix crew so I am not looking forward to trimming these girls.

Bubba Kush got some crispiness to her while I was away, but I am back now and she seems to be happy to see me, so I got her back on track and she is now in flower.

I'm in on this one to bud.
Cheers

Good, because I was inspired by you just now and decided to top all the nodes on my Northern Lights. I have some time before I will have an open spot so I figured what the hell. I am going to keep on topping until I have room for it, so we will see how this goes.

I also transplanted Blue Dream #3 into a pot with uncooked soil that I just took from the Dusted Bud plant I pulled last night. I am interested to see how this impacts the grow. I had to top fill with cooked soil. Should be an interesting ride.

Dude, you are gonna be please with the topped plant if you can veg it out for a good amount of time. It will produce some big ass buds.
Interesting with the uncooked soil. my guess is that you might have to jump start it with something. I bet Doc would know what it do. Should be fun anyways.

An fine time had by an eclectic mix of humans. I enjoyed it greatly.
I often lament that in such a tourist mecca, the arrival of a 420Mag buddy is mighty rare. I sure do appreciate sharing words and ideas with you and the Newbette.
The BD perked right up over night. I passed eyeballs over her at about 4am today and she was way perked up. I'll be giving her plain water until I detect some need for more. Not sure what her final fate will be, but cloning will occur as soon as I get back from Tahoe.

The funny thing is that my used soil seems to have higher soil energy than my freshly cooked. Throw a trimmed fan in there and it gets fuzzy in the used, not in the freshly cooked. That's why I did it. If I have to jump start it, no worries. And I have time to top it as I want, trying to not cull a plant since I won't have much room in bloom unless I go from 4 plants to 6. We will see.

Ok, I made it here. Lol! I went to the wrong journal. Lol! Stoner problems.

You didn't go to the wrong journal. Welcome to both, I gotta drop some more Dusted Bud beans because I have 3 or 4 strains I haven't even grown yet. But this one has active girls all around. Glad you made it.

The lady and I always have a good time when we come by. Rare occasion I am able to talk shop with anyone, and we always find something to get into that puts the cherry on the sundae. I saw that she perked up for you, I think you will enjoy her if she can survive the environment. I think she will do fine if I had to guess, but that's just a newb's opinion.

That's not uncooked soil. :cheesygrinsmiley: That's second run soil. And second run soil is always hotter than freshly cooked soil, so you did good. Did you just cut a hole and drop the new one in, or did you break it up first?

Be sure you add the recharge when the time comes, though. The beasties are fully alive and they'll eventually need more minerals.

Oh, and don't ever try to start seeds in anything but freshly cooked soil or even plain ProMix. Second and third run soil often just eats the seed.

Wait, so second run soil doesn't get amended and cooked for 30 days again?

I broke it up good. I will make sure to Recharge these. I actually have had seeds not sprout and when I pulled them to see what was the issue they have had white worms in them, is this what you are describing? If so I may have to get some extra coco just to start the girls in.

I took your advice and hit that Blue Dream (the one that got GE instead of 2nd Cat) with plain water and will hit her with another Cat Drench. Should I give her two more Cat Drenches for a total of 3 or just one more?

Thanks for stopping by GT, always dropping the knowledge I need to become a better DBHB grower. :thanks:

Speaking of seeds, I just dropped two Ultra Dog F2s into soil and now we await their appearance.

If the Blue Dream looks healthy after this next Cat, I'd give it a second one (for a total of three), and then go back to a water/GE cycle til finish.

Second run soil doesn't need more amendment or a cook. It still has the recharge in it and the biota are fully populated all throughout the soil, so it's ready to rock a second time. Many of us have simply cut the old rootball out and plunked the new one right in there. - works jus' fine. :cheesygrinsmiley: The LOS people tell us that it's better not to disturb the intact fungi structures that have spread all through the rootball. The one I did was a reveg and it turned out really well. But I can't say it was to the old intact pot of soil.

Anyway, nope, you're good to go immediately with a used pot of soil. The second round will be better. :slide:

What is this wizardry? Share please. I already know I want to make them whatever they are.

That is super smart BN, I always just keep eating and end up snoozing when they all kick in. Its a fantastic sleep though!
hahahahahhaa wizardry

I have just lol'd at work.

and ppl asked what I'm laughing at.

Pretty easy to make, I made some RSO in my MB machine and bought a candy making kit. Follow the instructions on the candy kit and just before it reaches temp. ad 2-4 grams of the oil and mix very well, pour into molds and your done.

you can make any flavour you want with different extracts
im being a massive doughnut here but...

oil.

what's safest and easiest way to extract.

also, does it taste?

Perfect GT, I will do just that. Just one question, do I need to keep the second run soil moist or is it ok to let it sit up dry in order to keep everything alive and well?

Easiest way to extract in my opinion would be a Magical Butter machine. All you have to do is a decarb then toss it in the machine and let it run. I need to get a butter machine here shortly once I can grow enough to have some extra bud to play with.

If you let the old soil go dry, the biota will go dormant and you'll have to bring it back to life before you use it again. Just wet it down and warm it up. It doesn't take as long as the initial cook though, maybe a couple weeks. And you shouldn't keep unused soil very wet - just enough to keep it moist and humid in the bin. I toss my trim in there to add humus, and to monitor the soil life.

Excellent! That is going to make things so much easier for me. Thank you so much GT!
