BrixNewb's First Grow & Beyond

I've had a lot of experience with fade. Yours looks pretty darned good!

At that stage of bloom and with the stiff texture of those leaves, I don't think it reduces yield significantly. If it comes earlier in bloom with weak limp fans, that's a problem.

I don't think that fade will significantly impact your yield. The flowers still look good. I've had a couple do this and the produce was very good in both yield and potency.

Awesome. All of my plants so far have always produced decent buds regardless of the fans, so I am happy to hear this should be good to go.

I agree with Govt..leaves...the buds look great -plump 'em and frost 'em'! :thumb:

Excellent Zig, appreciate it.

I agree. Some strains are meant to fade. Huck Kush won't do it for me. Twister certainly does. Never complained about twister yield or potency either..
BN that Budzilla is looking just killer man!

I have two cuts of Chocolope Kush one of which just hit the flower tent, another not too far behind. I am going to step up the feedings for them both and see what happens. That Budzilla Shig! She is so sexy. I am very excited to see how she turns out. Starting to show some spots of fading a little bit on some of the fans, I gave her a Rescue to see how that does, but that frost is really something. Think I am going to take a page out of your book and leave the frosty fans on when I trim her up.

Noted. The fans are actually still supple and soft despite the fade. Glad to hear good news, I am a worrier as I am sure you guys have gathered by now.

I really appreciate all you guys, anytime I have a question or need some help, y'all are always there for me. I visit each of your journals often, although I don't have much to add, so I try to drop a friendly hello from time to time. Thanks again guys!

Ok guys, been a while since I gave an update, so today I am here with an update on the veg tent.

Budzilla Clone #1 and #2 both got transplanted last night into 2 gallon pots. They are doing alright. Hoping they pep up in bloom.

Budzilla Clone #2

IMG_0039128.JPG

Budzilla Clone #3 and #4 we a bit neglected. For the first few days I sprayed them with De-Stress, but for about 4 days after that I did not touch them inside of their humidity domes. I am happy to report that despite the neglect they were both showing roots and ready for transplant last night. Now they both reside in one gallon pots.

Blue Dream is doing well. Nodes are tight, growth is looking good. Lots of symmetry.

IMG_0026184.JPG

IMG_0027191.JPG

Jack Herer has some really tight nodes and was topped very early on. She has developed 4 distinct tops at this time.

IMG_0028175.JPG

Blueberry Headband got some LST early on because phototropism was not taking effect at all. She has a couple side branches that have moved into the light, so there is hope for her after all.

IMG_0032154.JPG

Chocolope Kush Clone #2 is doing well. She is quite the bush. The plan for her is to chop the main stem and make her into a shorter bush about 15 inches in height. She is well beyond that at this time.

Budzilla is coming along nicely. Heavy trichome production, I am looking forward to this harvest. The veg tent has two clones of her who will go into flowering in about a month hopefully.

Chocolope Kush has me torn. She has very weak stems which is a problem that I have never had before. I don't know that the yield will be high, looks like it will be average at best. Yet she is turning some beautiful purple/brown colors on most of the plant. My night temps are not low, so this would be genetics I am guessing. I already have another Chocolope Kush plant in bloom that came from this one, so we will see. I have one more Chocolope Kush clone plant in veg, I believe that will be the last one from this mother that I grow.

Chocolope Kush Clone #1 is looking happy and healthy so far. Once I see prominent pistil growth I am going to Recharge her and throw some EWC in there as well.

Chocolope Kush Clone #2 was moved into flower today. That puts 6 plants in my 4'x4' bloom tent. It is officially at capacity! Hoping either Budzilla or Chocolope Kush finish within the next two weeks, otherwise one of them will be sacrificed.

Looks nice in there. You should have some happy girls.:goodjob:

Why thank you. Still working out kinks here and there, but regardless I am still getting some amazing produce, better than I have found out here, so I am happy happy happy!

Today Chocolope Kush came down. Did a quick trim of fans that didn't have frost and then gave her a wash. Tomorrow will be the final trim and she is on the hangers for a week or so.

That choc Kush may win you over with her smoke so don't make any hasty decisions about ditching her just yet!

I enjoy the optimism, but Chocolope Kush is no stand out. It is a nice sativa leaning hybrid, but about average for what I have grown. With my High Brix kit I have consistently grown marijuana better than anything I have found where I live. Very happy for that.

Chocolope Kush yielded 103 grams dry. I will take that yield all day!

Budzilla is still going strong in flower. She is yellowing upper fans. Still mostly clear trichomes, so not time yet.

Chocolope Kush Clone #1 is starting to put on the frost and has some small buds. She has already been recharged and Cat Drench will be in her future here soon.

Chocolope Kush Clone #2 is about ready to start pushing out pistils.

DSC_001890.JPG

DSC_001790.JPG

Blueberry Headband is next on the list to enter the bloom tent. She was ready a long time ago, but I am hoping to wait a little bit longer. She is about 19 inches tall, so I am afraid I am going to have to shove her in there sooner rather than later. I plan to take one clone before the flip and growing her out until I get the original harvested.

Budzilla Clone #1 is doing fine. Awaiting harvest of the mother to see if she is a keeper.

Blue Dream is a strain that I have wanted to grow for a very long time. This plant is doing very well and is probably one of the best looking plants I have grown so far. She is about ready to move up to a 2 gallon pot, but I am going to let her hang tight for a little bit longer until I move Blueberry Headband into the flower tent.

DSC_002978.JPG

Jack Herer has very tight internodal spacing, so I am interested to see how she flowers out.

DSC_002882.JPG

The flower girls look good but what really caught my eye is the veg game. Looking fantastic. JH Is crazy tight.

Also... The Great July 4th Smok-a-thon of 2016!

Thanks Shig. JH is crazy tight. It kills off a lower fan every few days because it's so tight. It will be an interesting plant to flower. I took a peek over at the July 4th thread, been busy as of late, so didn't participate. Did have a couple drinks today though.

Time for another update. Since we last spoke I have harvested Budzilla. The tops are in the jar so I can get a relative humidity reading while the lower buds continue to dry.

Chocolope Kush Clone #1 got her first Cat Drench and is forming buds and packing on the frost nicely.

DSC_001791.JPG

Chocolope Kush Clone #2 sure is a giant. I waited a little longer than I should have to put it in flower and now it's as tall as my Dusted Bud girls who really put on the stretch. It has started tossing out pistils, so hopefully the stretch is over. This is a great looking plant (as far as MY plants go at least) and I am hoping she stays that way.

DSC_0013103.JPG

DSC_0012117.JPG

Blueberry Headband is the smallest girl in the bloom tent. She just got moved over and I gave her a Rescue Drench yesterday. She wasn't doing terrible, but she wasn't doing great either.

DSC_0015108.JPG

Jack Herer is super tight as ShiggityFlip mentioned before. I have never grown a plant with nodes so close together.

DSC_0008117.JPG

DSC_0007120.JPG

Blue Dream was looking very sexy except for some tips curled down. I sprayed Brix two days ago and when I looked at her today she had 4 funky fans. Not sure if I contaminated the Brix or the sprayer and maybe got something else on her, but she will be fine.

DSC_0006132.JPG

DSC_0005126.JPG

Green Crack was a tough strain for me. The first seed I planted did not make it 3 days above ground. I planted a second seed and 4 days later I noticed that instead of a head sprouting out of the ground, it was shooting a taproot straight up. I dug the seed up and flipped it around. It seemed to be doing well, leaves came through nice and pretty yesterday. Then today a certain someone was cleaning the humidifier in the veg tent and knocked Green Crack over, completely uprooting the little seedling. I was able to step in and get her planted back in her Solo cup but only time will tell if she will pull through. I think she is going to be just fine.

DSC_0011122.JPG

The final numbers are in for Budzilla:

97 grams.

That keeps my average around 3.5 ounces per plant. I saw no real difference in yield when going from a 7 gallon pot down to a 5 gallon pot. I am happy with these numbers, especially being a new grower trying to get the hang of growing.

Yield is so subjective...and relative. I'm not trying to package and sell, so the numbers are just numbers. 3.5z/plant is a good number, and I'd rather have 3.5z of top-shelf than a lb of tasteless, bland schwag. But if you need more weight...grow more plants.

Good job brixnewb. :thumb:

I am all about quality as well, but I like, in my mind at least, to justify the time, money, and effort I put in with a yield that makes it worth my time. All the bud I have grown with Docs kit has been top-shelf in my humble opinion, so 3 ounces a plant makes me a happy customer. But if I could, I would surely grow more plants. My tents are maxed out with the current rotation.

Back with another update!

This is Green Crack. First seed I planted just didn't want to get right. It grew the wrong way, I flipped it around, then it died. This one seems to be doing a bit better.

DSC_0003130.JPG

This is a clone that I took from Blueberry Headband before I put her into flower. Could have probably used a bit more De-Stress since upcanning, but I think she will be fine.

DSC_0005127.JPG

Jack Herer is coming along. Super tight nodes on this one.

DSC_0010118.JPG

Blue Dream got roughed up a bit, but she is coming along as well.

DSC_0011123.JPG

Budzilla Clone #1 is still in flower.

DSC_0013104.JPG

DSC_0012118.JPG

Budzilla Clone #2 has been placed in flower and was in desperate need of watering, I Rescue Drenched her shortly after this photo.

DSC_003261.JPG

Blueberry Headband was placed into flower a while back and is starting to throw out the pistils.

DSC_002689.JPG

DSC_002587.JPG

Chocolope Kush Clone #1 is putting on the frost nicely just like her mother. She is due for a Rescue Drench coming up shortly as my soil energy just doesn't seem to want to stay up. I am sure it's something I am doing, possibly related to these little white bugs I see now and then. It's all good, I will keep on Rescuing them when they need.

DSC_003168.JPG

DSC_003071.JPG

Chocolope Kush Clone #2 I let get a little out of hand before flipping her. She measures over 30 inches in diameter. In the future I will pay more attention on when to flip my girls. I am interested to see if I have a noticeable difference in yield with a plant that is this much bigger.

DSC_002884.JPG

DSC_002794.JPG

Back with another picture update. The girls in the veg tent are packed, and as such, a few of the girls pots are getting a little tight.

This is the second Green Crack I planted, thought I had saved it, but now I see that it has deformed leaves. I am going to let it grow out and see if its leave grow normally, otherwise it will get the axe.

GC36.JPG

I took a clone from the Blueberry Headband plant before I threw it into flower and it seems to be doing pretty good so far. I topped it today and gave it some De-Stress.

BBHBC1.JPG

Blue Dream is struggling along. I got something going on, might be me, might be some critters in the soil, who knows, but she is alive and growing, I think she will be fine.

BD70.JPG

Jack Herer is growing. Nodes are very tight so it's dropping some of the shaded leaves. Will be interested to see how she does in flower.

JH211.JPG

JH114.JPG

Budzilla Clone #1 is still in the veg tent. I ended up topping it by removing the meristem, needed to address height issues.

BZC11.JPG

BZC12.JPG

On to the veg tent, first we have a bit of an experiment, Budzilla Clone #2 in a 2 gallon pot. She was the right size to take up some free corner space in the veg tent, so I grabbed a stool and put her on it in the corner. I will be interested to see the yield I get from this plant in such a small pot. She has just started producing pistils within the last few days.

BZC21.JPG

BZC22.JPG

Next up is Blueberry Headband. This is a plant that I am excited to smoke, the genetics seem very promising. She is forming up the buds now and is looking very nice.

BBHB2.JPG

BBHB3.JPG

BBHB4.JPG

Chocolope Kush Clone #1 is further along in veg versus #2. She is coming along nicely like her mother, although this pheno has very weak stems. I have never had an issue with weak stems except for these plants, so hopefully if I grow them from seed again I get a different pheno. The flowers are nice and frosty although the smoke was not a crowd favorite.

CK111.JPG

CK131.JPG

CK121.JPG

Chocolope Kush Clone #2 also has the weak stems but was put into flower a bit later due to my perpetual schedule. This is turning out to be a mistake as this plant is over 32" in diameter and takes up quite a bit of room in a 48"x48" tent. I am interested to see what the yield is from this plant, but I doubt it will be enough to warrant growing them this large.

Back with another photo update. Things are going pretty well. The newest addition to the lineup is Green Crack. She has some funky leaves, but I believe I am going to ride it out with her.

DSC_0001108.JPG

Next up we have a clone that I took from Blueberry Headband before she went into flower. The clone was doing well, I topped her and she didn't like that much, but she is getting over it.

DSC_0002130.JPG

Jack Herer has been in veg quite a long time. I believe that she is wanting a larger pot, but I just don't have the space at this moment. She is next in line though.

DSC_0010119.JPG

DSC_0009120.JPG

Blue Dream got moved up to a 5 gallon pot in preparation for going into veg shortly. Should be no more than a week.

DSC_0012121.JPG

DSC_0011125.JPG

Budzilla Clone #1 was recently put into flower. Should be seeing pistils here shortly. I am trying my double Y shape on her as well.

DSC_0014114.JPG

DSC_0013106.JPG

Budzilla Clone #2 is flowering in a 2 gallon pot, I wanted to see how that would impact my yield. She is a very light green compared to the #1 clone. She is also already dropping leaves although she just has buds forming up.

DSC_002491.JPG

DSC_002388.JPG

Blueberry Headband is looking amazing right now! She is very frosty compared to other plants I have grown and her bud formation is nice and thick, close together. I am very interested to try this flower!

DSC_0015111.JPG

DSC_0016108.JPG

Chocolope Kush Clone #2 is an absolutely massive plant. She is getting to the point where her branches are flopping over so I have put some support on the weaker branches to support them. Hoping that she will give me an impressive yield since she took up so much real estate, but I don't think that is going to be the case.

DSC_001987.JPG

DSC_001796.JPG

DSC_001895.JPG

Chocolope Kush Clone #1 is not far from the chop. I pulled a tester tonight and will let it dry a few days before making a decision. Some area still have some white, newer looking pistils, but for the most part they are amber.

Today I chopped and washed Chocolope Kush Clone #1. Tomorrow I will trim her up and then she hangs for 4-5 days on the stem before hitting the jars.
