BrixNewb's First Grow & Beyond

I don't have any assistance to offer, other than to say it's not at all unusual for different strains to have different requirements, so you likely can't treat them all the same and still optimize each plant.

I'd agree though, nothing to really worry about.

:high-five: :goodjob:

I guess I just figured with them being around the same size, with Doc's kit I could treat them the same and they should be similar. Oh well. Haven't seen them in a few days, so tonight will be a surprise.

brixnewb, your plants look great!
I am going to do this on a consistent basis.. After foliar feeding with Brix, or Destress, I shake the plant from the stem near the soil. Im not trying to her whiplash, just to shake off the excess pooled foliar sprays especially on the leaf tips.
:)

Yeah, I like to give them a little shake myself, usually give the pot a good shimmy.

Got a photo update of the bloom tent today.

Wipeout Express Auto is the smaller of the two autos I am growing. A bit of funky leaves, but she seems to be growing just fine.

Blackjack Auto is nice and tall and everything is looking good.

Pineapple Chunk is killing off the pistils. She looks like she will be the first to get chopped.

Grapefruit Diesel has all white pistils and her buds are quite chunky! I think she is going to produce nicely. Hoping to see that late bloom swell, that would make her extra chunky!

Back with another bloom tent update.

Grapefruit Diesel is the big girl in the tent. Her colas are nice and fat and the trichomes are looking good. The fans and sugar leaves look like hell, but the buds don't seem to mind. The pistils have just started to go amber here and there. Getting antsy for a harvest.

Pineapple Chunk will be a low yielder but looks like it will be the first to finish. This is the pheno that refuses to grow. The buds may yield an ounce, maybe a little more. Not a very fragrant pheno either.

Blackjack Auto is the only auto I have encountered so far that has done well (in my newb opinion). I have been feeding her carefully and it has seemed to work. She is a good size, pistils are looking good, and except for some leaves I believe I spilled feed on, she is looking good.

Wipeout Express Auto isn't doing as well as Blackjack Auto. Her leaves are looking frazzled and she appears to be shaping up as on large cola.

I grew out a pineapple chunk 2 years ago in a hempy bucket. It yielded like a beast (4+ zips from a 7 week veg), but was unremarkable in most other ways. Not bad, but not nearly as good as it should have been IMO. Yeah, I smoked it.

GD is looking most excellent!

Yeah, I had the pheno that refuses to grow. It isn't very fragrant and the trichome density is average from what I have grown so far. I do not have high hopes for it at all. But even being unremarkable would probably beat most stuff around here anyway. I checked just now and she is like 5% amber, 15% clear and 80% cloudy. Going to let her get more amber, maybe another week or so.

GD is looking most excellent!

You are too kind man. She has some big fat colas, but she is also like 3 feet tall. Leggy girl. We will see how she does.

Some exciting news in the grow area today. I was previously vegging in a 36"x20" tent and it was really cramped. I came across a 48"x24" tent and was able to shoehorn it into my room. I didn't think the upgrade would make a big difference, but I failed to realize that I was gaining a whole 3 square feet of usable space! Now my veg tent has plenty of room to keep supplying my 4'x4' bloom tent. Very happy with this combination!

In the bloom tent we have the autos, Wipeout Express which is not really growing much and already has pistils turning. I am not expecting much at all from this plant, but I am a new grower, so I put the blame on myself. No matter what I harvest, it was a learning experience, so I am thankful for that. Blackjack Auto on the other hand is actually looking really nice. She has all white pistils at this time and is growing nicely. She is about 2 foot tall.

Pineapple Chunk is mostly orange pistils now with maybe 20% white pistils. Checked the trichomes yesterday and they were a mixture of cloudy and clear, leaning more towards cloudy. No ambers in sight.

Grapefruit Diesel has just started to turn some pistils amber, but they are few and far between. She is yellowing the fans pretty much everywhere, but the buds are still soldiering on.

The bloom tent has a new addition today, Chocolope Kush! I trimmed her up nicely and even took two cuttings as clones. Hoping at least one of them roots and will likely grow her out if she does.

The new, more spacious veg tent also got some new faces (besides the clones), I planted a Blueberry Headband as well as a Jack Herer. They are in Solo cups, hoping to see them within the next three days.

I want to thank everyone for stopping by, I feel like things are falling into place. My equipment and environment are in the zone and now I just have to work on myself.

On to the pictures. These are pretty much a supplement to the last post. One thing I will say is that it's a shame that I can't seem to figure out these autos, because they sure are frosty!

I must be an old timer because I still haven't popped any of my DD auto seeds.

I tried growing DD a while back. First auto that I harvested, although it never turned purple. Just my luck!

Not much of an update today. Chocolope Kush is in the bloom tent for about 24 hours and already I am seeing some rapid growth, about an inch or two since being flipped. Tomorrow when I have time I will be trimming up Budzilla, taking a couple clones and throwing her into the bloom tent as well. I sure hope Pineapple Chunk decides to hurry up, because the bloom tent will pretty much be maxed out with those 6 in there.

I love the looks of most DD plants I've seen, but the size/yield appears to be a huge weakness.

I love the looks of most DD plants I've seen, but the size/yield appears to be a huge weakness.

The yield on mine was terrible, but I attribute that to me, not the plant. The smell was amazingly fruity and the stone was a heavy couchlock. If you can grow nice autos, I would give it a go at least once.

So Budzilla got trimmed up today in preparation for moving to the bloom tent tonight. I also took two clones, they only had 5 bladed leaves, but I am new to cloning, so I will give them a go. Budzilla's new growth is looking nice, she is making a good recovery. I trimmed her up quite a bit, hopefully I didn't overdo it.

Grapefruit Diesel absolutely snuck up on me tonight! I wrote how she was still going strong with plenty of white pistils and decided to check trichomes on a whim. She had a good number of amber, so down she came!

Pineapple Chunk was flipped on 3/3 so Thursday would make week 9 for her. She is supposed to finish up in 58 days, just got done checking trichomes and she still has quite a bit of clear with ambers only on longer, lower sugar leaves. I chopped a couple upper sugar leaves and they don't have any amber, so she continues on. Still white pistils here and there as well.

Blackjack Auto and Wipeout Express Auto are chugging along. Wipeout Express is a small girl, mostly amber pistils now. I will get around to checking her trichomes one day. Blackjack on the other hand is full of white pistils, buds aren't very thick, but I think she is just hitting her stride. She has some nice side branching and solid bud development. Excited to see if I can actually grow and auto worth growing.

Budzilla and Chocolope Kush are still adjusting to the flower tent, but they are probably the healthiest plants I have ever put into flower. Excited to see how these girls turn out.

The newborns Jack Herer and Blueberry Headband are doing work, tomorrow or the next day they will be ready for their first drink.

The Chocolope Kush clones are just starting to show roots through the Rapid Rooter. One is ahead of the other, but with any luck they will both pull through and I can choose the stronger of the two. The Budzilla clones are still alive.

So today I harvested Pineapple Chunk. She was taking forever, but I was looking today and I swear I saw some amber trichomes, so she came down. She was a small plant, but she was nice and sticky. She smells nice, I am interested to see how she turns out.

The Chocolope Kush clones are really doing well, they have roots shooting out, maybe ten or so each. I am still De-Stressing them and think I will plant them in a one gallon pot here soon. Not exactly sure how to go about that, but open to suggestions.

If the clones are pushing roots, just dust the plug (or whatever you use) with some Roots! powder and put them in the 1 gal. You can use some weak transplant (I do) or you can just water them in. You want the roots powder to get wet down there. Then you're all good.

Thanks guys. I always forget to read the instructions. That's my bad. I did as you guys suggested and here they are:

I have another Budzilla clone, but it isn't showing roots, so I am not sure if it will make it. I am going to give it a few more days. These are the first clones that I will be growing to harvest. Exciting times! The new tent has allowed me the room to have options, very exciting time for me. Glad you guys are riding along.

Cool...now just make sure to let them get good and dry before their next drink. You won't see very much above-ground growth right away most likely, though I've had some not skip a beat. This is where you're growing roots.
