BrixNewb's First Grow & Beyond

Not that my current round took off but in my last three grows, I found 2 gallons of water is what it takes to completely drench a 7 gal pot. I do get a little run off (or leftovers), but not much. At least 1.5 gallons stays in each 7 gal pot. I use 1/2 gal water to do two 1 gal pots and always need a little extra to drench them completely. My rule is 1:4 water to soil.

In the past, to water 3x 7 gal pots and a couple 1 gal, I would make 2 gal of whatever was needed and bubble it in a 3.5 gal bucket. I soak the 1 gals and split the rest between the 7 gals. Only in late-bloom do I feel like I might need to add some more water. Usually that means another 1/2 gal or so in the saucers to see what they might want

Rarely did I ever have anything leftover. I never soaked the 7's though.

Right on dude, that's why we are all here for, now that I think bout it.......neiko was the one who pointed the pint for a gallon container.....another good rule for bloom watering(neiko again) is about a gallon of water for ten of soil......so if I got them in 7s then I water with bout .75 gallon, and like doc says "2/3 bottom and 1/3 top"........:passitleft:

Yeah, after seeing these roots, I think I am going to take it easy with bottom watering. I usually water/drench/water/drench so I think they drenching gives the bottom plenty of water. Might move to water/water/drench and see how that goes. I remember Doc saying that one gallon is plenty to water a plant in a seven gallon.

I use 2 gallons with my drenches on the seven gallons as well. After drenching I elevate the pots out of the water and let them drain all I can get out of them.

That sounds like a good plan.

Dark Devil is harvested and sitting at 61% RH. She yielded 13.3 grams (minus one or two testers). First auto and second harvest, totally hosed it up. She smells like a sweet cereal with a hint of fruit.

Nah, not totally hosed - maybe half hosed, is more like it. That's some fine looking nuggetry there! :thumb:

Major, do you completely drench a pot in bloom? I guess I just keep my moist?

Yes. The only difference is, I do not let them get as dry before drenching them. They do take a less water at that point. the 1:4 is for a wet/dry cycle.

Looks great brix, can't wait for a smoke report. I'm thinking my DD will be another 2-3 weeks and can hardly wait for testing

Thanks man. The smell of these things is something else. The early report is that it's a body stone. Nothing else to report just yet.

brix, those look and sound delicious! congratulations! :)

Thanks Dr. Z.

I agree with the others. That might be a small yield, but it looks really good. :thumb:

I mean, washed, dried, high brix weed...nuff said.

Absolutely, I am thankful for any harvest.

Ok guys, I am going to need those green vibes sent my way. I am attempting to clone Grapefruit Diesel. I chopped the two lowest branches, scraped them with the scissors along the bottom of the stem, and placed them in a cup of water with Roots! and put them in the dark. Hopefully in two weeks we will see some Roots!

brix, good luck!! How much did you scrape and how much Roots! did you use? :)

Thank you. I lightly scraped off the first layer all the way around. For Roots! I used a light sprinkling, nothing crazy. I have a ton of seeds, so success of clones is not a big deal, I can take my time and get it right.

Sending posi-vibes man. I use clonex. Good luck.

Thanks brother. I have Clonex as well, but I wanted to try this method and see what I can get.

Much appreciated.
