Brightlight's Strain Fest: Organics & LED

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Sensie Star Rocks. I love it for a indoor strain. It has won alot of awards, but that is if you get the true one. Take White Widow, Every breeder has their version of it, but only one is the award winner. All the rest are just breeders attempts to copy it. You know I've been playing with auto's up here. They should be perfect for the shorter seasons we have around here. This year was stellar. We usually get rains Oct 1st here. Makes for a short flower season. I bought a grab bag of seeds from Bhudda. If you got to their site they have a great deal. 50 like >3$ per seed. I've had some interesting plants. Yields 4-5 Oz's off some. And yes they are getting pretty potent. That first Lowrider #1,,, I got plants that yielded a 1/4 of a oz of mid-range herbs. If you ever want to try some, they do have a great deal. Find someone who reads Spanish. I've seen that Spain has a lot of vendors playing with them. I also got a grab bag from Short Stuff of regular seed. So far I'm not impressed with them, but I've yet to do a cut of some. Some dude grew one that yielded two pounds in 135 days outdoors in Washington State. Plant looked o be 8-9' tall. I know I've got acouple that hit 4'. But on the bad note I'm flowering my auto's with non-auto's. Under 12/12. Auto's do better under 18/6. But what ya going to do? But I'm liking some of these auto's,,, maybe next time I do a auto only grow. GL and hope she smokes up as good as she looks. Keepem Green

You're right about the copycat strains. I only grow the Paradise Sensistar. Recently Serious told me that most AK's on the market are poor copies or not even real AK genetics. So about autos...the little Cheese this summer got my attention. Recently joined a couple of auto threads to learn. I know a little about photo breeders, strains, & genetics, but man there are auto breeders & strains I've never heard of. Way beyond auto versions of photos. And man those growers stuff the autos full of synthetics on a daily schedule ending up w/ humungous massive colas. :morenutes:

Nice Bright!! Looks like they're ready to rock.
I've read through the last few pages a few times, you guys are dropping some serious pot knowledge!

What's going on underneath? I went back a little, couldn't find it.

Not sure what your question is referring to, but thinking that it was about the Cole Train that naturally split into 2 main stems.

it's amazing man, looking at your plants that is.

i read a research sometime ago about plant stress levels. Turns out that plants stress on a different scale, meaning that even when they don't go through a tremendous shock like getting transplanted, they still feel stress based on their enviroment.

what i see here is a couple of ladies, being more comfortable than ever, chilling and enjoying every second.

excellent job my friend, can't wait to see more of these happy girls

:high-five:

If you like & relate to such theories....which I do, take a look at Jason King's Cannabible & Bodhi Moon's Medical Cannabis Secrets. You'd enjoy some stuff in both.

Stoping by to say high brother. And to look at your beautiful plants.
happy daze brother.

Thanks DK. Relax & we'll vape out....your AC & my 91. :volcano-smiley:

Great strains and stunning plants as always, just passing through again to get another look. :Namaste:

Thanks CareStaker. Join DK & me. I'll smoke anything you grow. :passitleft:

Good to see all of you & welcome to a few new growers. :welcome:

OUTDOOR UPDATE

Finished my outdoor harvest at end of Oct. These last 2 were late plants replacing males. EmDog seed was started very end of May. The Killa Watt was even later....seed thrown in pot outside on July 16.

Anyone ever grow any Seedism strains? Killa Watt was from old Seedism promo. Wanted to try more interesting strain Hippy Killer but seed had dried & crumbled inside baggie. It had Love Potion in it. KW was grown like old days...no training or shaping. Hard to say what genetics are...supposed to be an Afgani, or X with either Skunk or OG. Smelled like pine all the way. Crimson petiole stems her whole life. Fast strain that grew to 4.5' from middle of July seed to Oct. 27 cut. A physical indica high...strong enough to surprise me. Enjoyed growing it.

EM DOG
I cannot say enough about this strain's smell....pungent unique floral bouquet that is sweeter than anything else I've grown or seen. Outdoor, indoor, growing or dried bud....all smell the same & it lasts. A heavier type OG high.

Every outdoor season is different. This yr. smaller yields. But a couple of very potent plants. I fed normal compared to last yr.'s extra low feeding trial. Drought but often way more humidity for this area. Far less bugs maybe drought related? Late plants were fun...will be good way to try some promos & experiment a little. The last 2 were strong smelling girls that made me grin & added to the Oct. air. Good fun, good harvest, & glad to be done. Thanks for following along.
:thanks: :Namaste:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Temps were going through the roof this season. In Italy we had African anticyclone coming back in waves. Actually day temps now are still in high 60s to low 70s which is a lil' above the norm for mid November. Cannabis doesn't like anything above 80s for more than 2-3 days, so she grows smaller buds in response. Now these ones might be more potent but overall yield is reduced.

Sixties to low 70s?! Here in the US mountain west we had snow flurries yesterday.

Mekong High
Tallest indoor plant yet...over 3' in a 2 gal. pot. She would have been even taller if not for a late veg top & super crop of both new stems. Crazy Vietnamese sativa....tall & willowy.

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

You've really managed that Mekong High well! :bravo:

I love the natural habit you kept. I always seem to screw that up with the fluffy sativas. You can't overtrain them or they'll lose it - you end up with a mess. Yours looks great!

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

I just seen the reply you made to my comment and I tried to fast foreword,,,,, but that's some sick buddage. And that Mekong High,,, she bears the look of a million% sativa. But then she's suppose to be a high % sativa isn't she? I gotta go backtrack for a second to see the rest,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,brb................... Lynard cracked so be a second..................... Dude I seen that Indo plant before called Sensie Star,,, she looks right on. Should be >9 weeks to finish. But hey,, what's in a name. Either 'good'bad'orbetter' is all their is. The trick is finding and cutting the 'right' one that works for you. To me, I see she's not going to be heavy yields, S-S isn't either. She's great head stash. To me I wish I had her back... Kind of like GSC's to me.... A lot of tasty stuff a growing in that space. Keepem Green

62 Days - Cole Train & Sensi Star Harvest

Cole Train
This plant never did smell much. At the end smelled like over ripe fruit. Like fruit close to going slightly putrid. Least trichomes of 6 strains but surprisingly very, very sticky when taking off fans. Mid green throughout grow w/ lots of deep orange pistils. The "natural top" doubled the number of laterals that all grew out to be buds about the size of a small thumb.
IMG_200721.jpg

Sensi Star
Smallest plant of 6. Outdoors Sensi Star is a huge indica plant, but this 1st time indoor plant never got going & stayed small. Very round buds with thick, stiff pistils. Like quills before they withered. SS never does smell much, but some sweet vegetal scent plus slight fruit & mint. Dark, dark green turned into some nice colors at finish.
IMG_202522.jpg

Haven't tried either strain yet, but based on looks, smell, stickiness should be fine. Hoping for maybe ~1.5 zips each when dried & trimmed. After 4 indoor grows where I kept everything mostly the same to get some experience & reference points of indoor growing, I think it may be time to change up a few things....like try a few 3 gal. pots from current 2's. Feel like I should get a little more for the overall effort. Seems a bit empty to grow a stellar plant that yields in the 1+ oz. range. Not complaining as overall I harvest way more than I consume. Just another grower always seeking more.
:Namaste:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Heheh, I should be growing one ounce plants, too, but I can't seem to resist the instinct to grow 'em bigger. :laughtwo:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Hey Bright , nice little harvest brotha! Would like to see ya with some bigger pots though....like 10's. Bud structure becomes more like the "outdoor" look you mention. Much more hardier stems and stalks,..a meatier plant. With a well draining soil like ours it's cool to see the main stalk get so large for an indoor plant. Starting to ramble.....OK , cheers Bright and have great night .:high-five:

New Tent
I added a 2nd tent a few months ago. It's a Gorilla 2 x 4 that will be used mostly for veg. The light is the same mfr. as my current light. I'm now aware that I'm not supposed to mention the name since not a sponsor. But unless deleted it's listed in one of earliest posts when I didn't know not to mention non sponsored lights. Understandable but also a bit weird imo. Anyway it's the original model & is a 300 watt light. Got it during a half price sale. Back when I started to follow LED's 300w seemed light a big deal, but now it seems on the weak side. But the 1st batch went through veg. very well & are waiting to go to the flower tent as soon as the current 6 are harvested.

"Brightlight Junior"

Inside the Tent - 4" Blauberg fan & Phresh Lo Pro Filter
Fan has built in 2 speed switch. Lower speed uses only 29w & is plenty strong to vent tent.

Backscratcher Hoe & Rake
Anyone else like to till or break up media surface before watering? I like to do that so water penetrates immediately & more evenly. While standing in hardware store check out line, I was looking at all the gadgets, gizmos, snacks that are always at checkouts. This backscratcher is hard metal & is great for chopping up & raking smooth the media crust before watering. Only $3. Brand is Max Force if anyone else might be interested.

Next Batch Up Ready to flower when current plants done.
Cali Connection & HSO Green Crack. Haven't grown GC so thought I'd grow both to compare. Both promos.
Cali Connection Tahoe OG. A strain I used to grow outdoors often.
DNA Sour Kosher. Liked the Kosher power in the Kosher Tangie aka 24 Karat Gold. A big Sour fan too so will get to check out the DNA Sour at the same time.
MK Ultra. Have grown MKU crosses but not the pure until now.

Seeds Soaked Today for Next Batch Beyond
Rare Dankness Ghost Train Haze #1.
Serious AK 47. Time for some old time power & potency.
Serious Warlock. My little tribute to Gerrit Slot of Magus Genetics.
Connoisseur Genetics SSSDH. Finally got around to restocking one of my most favored strains. Lucky to get seeds as now sold out again.

Outdoor Killa Watt Bud
This was the Seedism promo strain I threw in outdoor pot mid July. Didn't expect much but pleasantly surprised. A real sweet stinker.

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

thats some serious strains going up next brother, can't wait to see how those turn out.

nice add on the second tent, i'm thinking about it all the time aswell.

your flowering ladies are looking fresh, that JW of yours is making growers around the world jealous

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Everything looking superb bright! Always a nice variety of strains here! Question for ya. What model Blauberg fan do you have in the 2x4 tent? Is it pretty quiet? I'm looking to upgrade my fan before next grow. Mine is just way too loud and when I have 2 of them running I can't even hear myself think. I like that you can run it at 29 watts without an added controller too.

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Heheh, I should be growing one ounce plants, too, but I can't seem to resist the instinct to grow 'em bigger. :laughtwo:

99% of the time I'm fine w/ the yield...reminding myself it's my own choice to grow organically over more robust feeding styles & to not compare with the still fresh mental picture of recent outdoor plants. But after I take off the leaves & see only the buds, it's like "Sheesh, all that for this?" You once wrote something about getting "an oz. per sq. ft. being in the 85 percentile." Don't know details or source of that but sounded good to me & since I generally get that, I should be happy & shut up.

Hahaha...my outdoor pots are only 7's. I know you're a big pot proponent brother. My flower tent has 8' ceiling so I guess I could grow a big girl in there. Maybe sometime I'll grow just 1 or 2 in there using 7's or 10's? Could see that for a favorite strain like a Chem.

As my shoulder situation improved after the surgery, my energy & overall health improved. That coupled with a 50% off light sale & my grower impulsiveness got me into a 2nd tent before I knew what happened. Hope to see you add another tent soon too. The JW is much prettier indoors than any outdoor versions I've grown. Having grown several strains both inside & out, potency is mostly a push but visually the flowers have their own unique appearance.

Thanks guys....always appreciate the input.:thanks:
