I like knowing where I am in strength for the stages of growth and to save money in a normal grow. This is a special grow and I'm not so cost conscious as I want to show off the light right now, but that's coming. Anyway, I see folks using it and with your side by side look with the apogee, I'll be giving it more time soon. Thanks!

With LOS being as forgiving as it is, we can get away with the averages and generalizations for our light measurements so the lower end light stuff is perfect. It really helps a lot when you have the manufacturers PPFD map (like you posted), you can go off that and just use the app to confirm which is super nice. It’s always nice to know what strength you’re at just so you can rule it out in case of issue, and so you know your ladies aren’t being under lit.

Hello and merry holiday week to you all! Looking in on them today I found one appearing to be growing as healthy as any of them but off to the side. My watering and walking away not checking left a hole next to the plant that I refilled with soil and buckered up with a small container. They look to have taken a good rooting!

Did I show you the soil I mixed the other day? I forget. Well I got down about a foot and took it's temperature and got +10 degrees from ambient! I'll take that as good cooking!

Newly Amended LOS

Update on the stress test. All systems go! My heart is in good order. Just some groovy beats left over from covid no doubt. My opinion. The heart specialist said he hasn't put covid and irregular heartbeats together. I told him it's about time he started wondering about that. Not that it matters, but folks should be informed if it is a fact.

I always manage some silly misstep no matter how much I plan lol

I agree about the heart beat.. I never had this before, then I had COVID and it never went away. I’m almost 40 and pretty healthy so it’s not like I’m old and compromised or that it could be linked to other issues. I don’t think I’ll be convinced otherwise at this point lol.

I’m a cautiously optimistic person, hope for the best but prepare for the worst type. A lot of people I know had respiratory infections in late 2019 before COVID was officially declared. I’m fairly certain that was COVID already ripping through our population, so many people were sick.

I got COVID in the summer of 2020 and again in the summer of 2022. If a funny heartbeat is all that I have to deal with for a while that’s peanuts compared to some of the symptoms I’ve seen. No smell? No taste?! No thank you.

On topic.. the PPFD map you shared is quite impressive for 500W.. The light is slightly pricey at full price, however if I understand correctly, you can control 100 other fixtures from that fixture which is petty significant. Are you able to dim it to any level you want or is it incremental?

Extra stuff that you don’t really need but is fun none the less lol.

I'm not sure about that. They can be daisy chained to 100 units. I assumed that made the first one the master controller in increments for all. Good question for Valerie @ViparSpectra . Valerie, is there a port to hook a variable non incremental dimmer to the KS5000?

That’s right! I always forget about the website.. I highly recommend the website as well.. you can get a ton of free info there, and most of it is much more current. It is a bit difficult to navigate on mobile, there’s not really an easy way to see all his stuff in one spot, but the desktop version may be better. Regardless, it’s another really good source for TLO/LOS

I don’t know if you ever read any of his stuff but Ed R. has several really good books. Imho CL

Best news! A little story. I have white coat syndrome pretty good. My bp was 210/80 to begin there though at the house it's 124/72 on average with meds. They weren't going to do it but I told them to hold da bus and give me a minute. We chewed the fat for a short time and it went down by 50 points and we went for it.
Question, is white coat syndrome a fight or flight part of us? It's weird as all hell living with it in what may be the most medical rich area of the world. I don't particularly fear any of it but it happens every time unless I visit for a check every week for ~a month.

It's a stress reaction to the cold, antiseptic setting, the situation and is conditioned behavior. You never visit the doctor to go have lunch and chat about fun things. You usually go because of some health issue or some test that could reveal a health issue you dindn't even know you had which produces the stress response.

Add to that that doctors are often looked at like some sort of god whose thoughts are not to be challenged because they are the holder of all truths and you have the settings for a power dynamic that also brings on stress.

The medical establishment's response to the whole covid pandemic caused me to change how I view the machine, but that started for me with their response to using our favorite plant as a way to treat ourselves.
