Hi Gazoo are there a couple pages in particular causing you problems? These can be sooo frustrating because when the site gets constipated, any thing can appear slow and 2 minutes later its not..

Actually when it acts up its all pages, I can't see or do anything. Something else
I noticed it seems to take A VERY VERY LONG TIME to just simply connect the FIRST THING
in the morning when I come here, For some reason it gets better the longer I stay on line
but the next morning back to sloooooow start

Not sure what "any thing can appear slow and 2 minutes later its not.." Means
but 2 minutes for a 2 sentence TEXT response in 2018 is STUPID SLOW

I’m cutting back on the number, and I’ll be more aware of reposting pics in a quote. You guys are making me more aware of efficiency and respect for others.

I’m not sure how I feel about being the test case for loading problems. Lol!

Posting pics in a quote is no longer a problem. The new site condenses them in an expandable box should you choose to open it.

That was a personal peeve on the old site.

Nothing wrong with being a test case, gives everyone something to base efficiency off of.

I formerly used the app on my phone because the site was way too small to navigate or read. I've now been using the mobile version a few days now and it's getting easier the more I use it.
I do have one observation/request.... when I select one of "your threads" it takes me to the first post. I would prefer to go to the last post..... is there currently a way to do that (without scrolling to the bottom and clicking the double arrow, every time)?
I’ve found the same - if you click the date/timestamp of the last update, rather than the thread title, it’ll take you to the end. Or, if you land on the first page, turn phone to the side for landscape and you’ll get navigation at the top (signatures too FWIW)

its not just your pages so not to worry! It happens all over. I’ve had the issue in pages with less than 10 images on.
Indeed, giving that page of sue’s Is probably not the best example Might do to find pages with less images to show how widespread the issue is at times. I’ve been noticing (and reporting) this with newly uploaded images since the upgrade. We waited for the thumbnail generation to complete, but it turns out that wasn’t the problem.

I think its it’s sad that we’re all talking about restricting our image sharing as a part of this... (needs sorting at the server end of things)

When you choose the thread you want to visit hit the time of the last post. That’ll take you to the current page.

A transaction can appear slow when system resources are over extended and its stuck in queue behind others.

Do the same thing 2 minutes later and it can be fine / fast like you would expect.

FWIW every image in this thread has that click to view function, and they load instantly. Until you get to the last page which has images uploaded since the relaunch.
The 420 Fotographer Collective - Advanced Cannabis Photography

I’ve seen other thread pages with this function too.

I’m guessing all images are meant to perform this way, but it seems none of the new ones are. I’ve been reporting the issue with these specifics for a while. Hopefully now that all the background optimising has supposedly finished - the devs will see that the issue is independent of that and get it sorted.

I'm pretty sure we're not talking about restricting image sharing, but server-side image re-sizing. Large images would be re-sized to fit the page, and clicking on it would load a full resolution image.

I’m right on that page with you Salt! It was some comments suggesting we might change our practices I was responding to there. ;)

I’m actually actively trying to suggest that folks don’t make any adjustments to the way they‘ve always added images to the site. Its a server thing not an end-user thing to fix. (I adjusted that post to make that clearer ;))

Really tired of the pic issue too...Im somewhat skeptical of the poll results up above :p

They’ll get it sorted mouser. :hugs: Once they do we’ll be thrilled with the new features.

Having been a HMFIC, I would be quite pleased with the progress if it were my team doing this rollout.

Most people have no clue as to what is involved in a platform change. There is a very steep learning curve for the system administrators. Data migration to a new platform is usually a nightmare. Nailing critical issues can take weeks, and is usually done prior to any members (users) ever getting to see the progress. Once that is complete, the two systems are run in parallel, with a beta test group using the new system, and administrators madly crushing the bugs which inevitably show up. Then, finally, the general population is moved to the new system while the old continues to parallel it, in case there is need to revert.

Most of this was just not possible while maintaining member security. The 420 team was forced to switch platforms earlier than they were ready for. It was coming, but this is not the rollout the 420 team wanted.

The team is dead tired. They've been working far too much. They need to rest, and rejuvenate themselves.

Kudos to the :420: team.

:thanks: for your efforts.

If not for the peril that is spam... I would repost this information and sentiment all over the site!

Esp.

To be honest, as a strictly PC user this update has been a huge disappointment. Im sure the team has worked hard, but the result has been a site that is hard to keep coming back to. I keep checking in because I miss the people I have come to know and Im curious how they're doing both in life and their grows... But when an update requires me to go do dishes so I can see the pictures, Im just not that anxious to check in on all my subscribed threads...in short, I honestly cant see these improvements that y'all are talking about.

My second strongest complaint as it were, is the fonts used. It actually hurts my eyes to read. Too small, too thin, too faint...even when I bump the zoom to 125% its uncomfortable. Never had any difficulty at all on the old site seeing anything. Maybe Im old, I know I can be grumpy, Im trying to be patient, but I just dont see anything positive happening. What are you all seeing that makes you say that this is a good thing?

I'm sure they'll be more apparent once all the fires are out and the site is working smoothly again. The biggest one for me is rolled up quotes, where I don't have to scroll past many images in the replies.

Thanks for bringing this up. I never gave it a thought, as most probably didn't.

Like mouser, I, too, have trouble reading the gray font. It needs to be black. I can't find anything in my accessibility settings to turn gray font black on a website I visit.

EMAIL GLITCH (ongoing) I added one more thread to my watched with email yesterday, and now I am getting ONLY that thread's emails. All the others that I not once, but twice, went to individually, unwatched, then rewatched with email, by hand, no longer are emailing me. When I looked in my What's New, I found that the 20+ threads I am watching with email have posts, but they are not being emailed to me.

The unwatch, rewatch only works for me if I do NOT add another thread to the list.

Having to visit every thread I am following via What's New is a time-consuming process, as I have to navigate to the thread from wherever I end up after selecting the new post from the list. Plus, I get ALL new posts from 420, not just those I'm following. :(

Hi AK - sorry to hear that issue is ongoing. I’m loggin’ it for my next updated list of bugs/requests. In the meantime, can you get better function using just your “Watched Threads” page? That will give you a version of a “what’s new?”, but only for your watched list. It’s not a fix I realise, but it might help in the interim.

I love that feature too. Actually, tho I think i’ve Noticed that the site is still loading all the images inside that quote, even though it’s contracted.

Hi mouser - the image loading issue can be a total bore at the moment i agree and understand. We know it’s going to get fixed though. There’ve been times, especially in my evening when nearly all of the USA is asleep, when the site gets super fast for me. At these times I can feel how powerful the new software driving the site is. We’ve all experienced some of these moments since the upgrade and it bodes well for when the speed issues get identified and sorted out. The other thing i see that excites me is the image quality when images do land. This is true for new uploads as well as the old images migrated over from the old site. There are features in the conversations section that are going to really enhance how we use that function. You can do cool things like highlight a section of text and get the option to reply (with quote) to just that bit of text or add it to a multi quote list (TS is going to love that surely! ;)), you can use the @mouser tagging feature to call on somebody without having to find a quote of theirs, there are better coding options for folks who like to code their own messages. These are just a few, and there are many more. I agree they’re harder to discover when there’s issues of speed going on - but like we all keep saying, that’s getting sorted! :cheer:

DOes that answer your question at all? :) Hang in there! :peace:
:Namaste:

Oh and yeah - the font thing. That’s a valid concern to raise. Add it into the list! :thumb:

I am confident when they address that issue, that will no longer be a problem.

However, as it is, I still am not forced to scroll through the same pics for several pages.
Which for me alleviates a minor annoyance.
