Boo’s Perpetual Grow Journal

Great advice, BigD! Safer® also makes a BT concentrate-little tiny bottle, but it makes like 10 gallons of spray, and you can spray every day if you want to, right up to harvest.

I had an outdoor Cheese last year that the caterpillars got to (Until I started spraying with BT)
I just dug the dead stuff (and the caterpillar ;) ) out, and left the rest of the bud to finish- by harvest time,
those buds were just as big and healthy as the untouched ones.
After digging the dead stuff out, I also gave the affected buds a couple of blasts with straight (3%) peroxide to kill any uglies that might be lurking in there.
If you found one caterpillar, there's probably more- look all the buds over closely- if you see any brown or tan spots on them, you need to dig into that bud, or at least spread it open a little to check for the little buggers- if you find one, pull it out with tweezers, and shoot a little peroxide into that bud where the caterpillar was- it won't hurt the bud, but it'll stop any rot that may be starting in there.
Thanks guys. I’ll get the BT tomorrow since nowhere close by here has it. I went thru and found four total buds (basically the bottom buds of the four major colas) that were ugly and I just removed them completely. This is a massive plant so what I took was nothing in the big scheme. Having said that, I need to go back with a stepladder and look at the tops to make sure there isn’t anything crazy going on up there...tomorrow when I have the BT. I also applied the peroxide at bud removal sites. We shall see what happens. Thanks again for your help. :green_heart:

I think I'm seeing more cloudy than clear, and no amber.

Spraying for caterpillars is actually easier than spraying for aphids or something- most of the harmful critters live on the undersides of the leaves, and on a large plant it can be a real chore to spray under all those leaves...

Caterpillars eat the whole leaf, so BT anywhere on the leaf will kill them.
That's the only drawback- they have to eat a little of your plant before the BT works it's magic...but without it, they'd be eating a lot of your plant- and we sure don't want that ;)

Ha! Well they hopefully have it all over them. I’ve found one dead caterpillar and one dead spider so far. I hate to admit it but it kinda made me happy....

Love the trichome pics and you can definitely see the ripening process from the last pics!

:rip: caterpillars. :yahoo:
Thanks Shed! I've been watching closely. I gave them their iso spray down today and broke a small limb while putting them back in the tent. They are having trouble holding the buds - that sounds like a real "problem" to have - the buds are actually very large but the problem is the stems. I can understand the silica need now. These gals have been straight Dyna Grow Foliage and Bloom from the beginning. Nothing else added, and it shows in the stem hardiness! Hope you are well.

Haha. Maybe! The ones in the tent smell soooo good. Sweet, earthy, and a little skunky. Yum. Even the outdoor gal is getting a nice scent. And, my weird pheno gal - I'm just gonna call her Big Momma from now on - well... I couldn't stand her mood swings and so I doubled her pot size. Ten gallons now - and three days later she went full in flower. I will post a pic of her soon. My baby girl is here for the weekend so we are gonna play. YAY!

Okay. Big Momma...I just couldn't keep her happy. So I took a large bread knife and sliced down the inside edges of her bucket, slipped her out, and made about 6 long slices from the bottom of the roots towards the top. I moved her to a ten gallon pot with ProMix HP and fed her two gallons of her normal 6g/gal MC, to runoff.

And a supercrop by someone who couldn't make up her mind...

Fingers crossed she lives!
