Our worst enemy is thinking we need to do something to "help" our plants.

Day 16

Rez change. New nutes added - now at 1/2 strength. PPM 425 @ 7.

Ice Bomb:

Berry Bomb:

Lots of surging growth. The phenos are quite different in appearance. The Ice is darker green while the new growth on the Berry is coming in much lighter.

I am in the dark on Cal/mg since I have 251 ppm at reset, a bunch of that is cal/mg. I will pick some up tomorrow & give them a very small dose to start. Any further thoughts?

Hey Ian! Excited to check this grow out. Strains sound yummy! I like 100 ppm cal mag for the first few nodes and 150 the rest of the ride. I certianly adjust based on the signs of the plant. You know how some strains can be picky.

Cheap insurance if you're changes rez on a reg basis

I wasn't but this was at 10 days. A 2 hour turn around with the nute additions & clean up.

Thanks for the numbers. The local water has 36 mg/L cal + 9 mg/L mg on average. I probably knocked that down by a third with filtering so I guestimate that I am starting with around 30 ppm cal/mg. So I will up it to just over 100 to start (assuming I can be somewhat precise).

Problem time. I did pick up some GO Cal-Mag+ today & I put in a very small dose (less than 1/4 dose) before noon. Here is the pic now. It is showing more on Ice.

My charts say calcium deficiency. Sound right? Should I hit it with a full dose?

Note the new growth is perfect.

They look good other than the rust .

Yes they do. My PPMs were static as well - actually rose 3 - 4 ppm per night - which was another flag for calcium. I hit it with the heavy recommended dose.

Nice catch .

Pennywise is right IMO. As soon as you filter with any RO you’re getting rid of almost all good stuff(and bad). I would recommend using it normally at least through veg. In flower you can reduce some, but I still use it. Depends on many variables and what nutes you’re using, but it’s needed, as you can see. Another reason why I love DWC. The new growth on your plants are all looking vibrant. The calmag use will show quickly. Good catch for sure.

I’ve been looking through this site. There’s some decent information in here:

great info so far from everyone, love this journal. have you or anyone here ever used hydrated lime instead of calmag ? wouldnt it be much more cost effective ? a 6kg bag here is only like $16, and you use only about a tsp per gallon so it would last quite some time.
