Ok. I have a technical question that has absolutely nothing to do with DWC... that I know of. Y'all seem pretty bright so here I go.

I have a plant that sprouted the first leaves, then then one set of leaves with multifingers, then nothing. When i say nothing I mean theres not even a little microscopic leaf waiting to grow. The crotch at the top of the plant is completely without features. Anyone seen this? I was told to top it, but there's really not a lot to top. The roots are going off, but there doesnt seem to a future in this plant. Sorry for highjacking the thread...

I have a seedling doing the same thing. I’m just going to leave it and see what happens. Yours is more developed than mine though. Mutants!

Update Day 29

How to Kill Cannabis Plants

1. Give them to Ian to grow.
2. Don't use cal-mag. (There's enough in the filtered city water, right?)
3. Before # 2 is properly dealt with, smack your plants with a healthy dose of nutes. Make it a full grow dose.
4. Watch them complain and die.
5. Dump the grow, eat humble pie & apologize to Bomb Seeds for being an idiot & killing their seeds.
6. Start over.

Well, I was ½ through # 4 on Monday morning. I was ready to plug the plug and start over. The plants were slowly trying to grow at the top & spotting & withering at the bottom. It was out of control. Or maybe just the grower was.

My wife talked me down from the ledge. She said: "They're fine. A little rough maybe but just think about our African violets. They wither one day & shoot out a flower the next."

So I calmed down & decided to leave everything alone. No more nutes or pH adjustments until my next res change (which is tomorrow). And guess what? The plants calmed down. The pH calmed down. The ppms calmed down. Hmm. Maybe I should just leave it alone more often.

The plants are small & slightly lollipopped from my defoliation of the dead leaves. I did go ahead yesterday & I topped the Berry Bomb & I fimmed the Ice Bomb so I could watch the development differences. They are both showing goodness 24 hours on (the Berry more so), so I guess I didn't mess that up.

On to the next crises . . .

Ice Bomb fimmed (maybe).

You're so hard on yourself. Do what I do... blame it on the seeds! Im sure your seed company is. Chocked full of wonderful people, but how dare they give you seeds that dont know how to grow! Did you know that stupid seeds are the number one reason for premature death among young pot plants?! It's science. I once had a seedling leave a note... brought a tear to my eye, she took the easy way out. I had to do the chalk outline in sharpy. A moment of silence please

No I can't do that because the seeds germinated 2/2. And the nice incognito lady at Bomb generously sent me a bunch . . . 3 strains x10 each . . . so I have no one to blame but myself (and I have a lot of great cannabis to grow).

But they seem to finally be thriving. I checked the roots last night & they are doing very well. A res change & new nutes (a calm cautious dose) today should keep me on track.

That's kind of what I figured, so at least I know that I'm in fine company! I have seen a whole lot of failed/abandoned/poor first grows so I knew that I would not be immune. But I was somewhat foolish to take on a sponsor grow for my first. That said, I am determined to make them proud & convince everybody that these seeds are warriors & can overcome even someone like me.

It’s absolutely normal. Everything you are experiencing and “feeling” is completely typical of a first grow (hell, it happens during your 15th grow too. So you have that to look forward to). Especially with the added pressure of a sponsor. However, you’ve already sold me on those beans. You tried to kill them and they still show you love back...LOL! That’s some pretty darn good genetics if you ask me.

Stop worrying and let them grow. Just keep giving them what they want. You’re already passed the hardest part IMO. I hate germination and seedlings...too fragile for me.
