Thank you. I have 2 stones in the left & 1 in the right kidney that move & call attention to themselves when the atmospheric pressure swings sharply. My own personal barometer. They calmed down mid-afternoon. But I stand by my assertion that kidney stones suck.

Thanks Stltoed. It's all clear now.

I have had stones for 20+ years. I don't pass them, I just manufacture, so I have been litho'd 3 times & had a parathyroidectomy to remove a tumor that caused the calcium imbalance & therefore, in theory, the stones. The jury is still out on that but I still have some remnants that hopefully aren't growing. Add my recent spinal stenosis diagnosis on top & now you can see why I am a legal Medical MJ patient.

My funniest kidney stone story — if there can be one - was a trip to Emerg. We called an ambulance since they typically get priority treatment from what we've experienced. If you walk in with kidney pain you will sit for 3 hours before care because they always want to be sure that your body clears any meds before they give you more. This time however, Emerg was overloaded (surprise) so I only got as far as sitting — no gurneys available - in the inner wait room. After about an hour, I was in really serious agony & I told my wife I had to lie on the floor. She went to the nursing station & told them my intentions - to get them to do something. Two minutes later a nurse bustled over & told us: "He can't lie on the floor. It's not allowed. We will call security."

Yeah, I kid you not. They threatened us. At that point, I had been in constant severe pain (9.9 out of 10 on my scale with 10 reserved for a severed limb) for 10 hours & I didn't care if they came & shot me. I had a bed in 5 minutes & hydrocodone 10 minutes after that. I will never go to a hospital with kidney stone pain again.

I was in the room when a good friend passed a few kidney stones. I almost feinted from HIS pain. LOL!

I hope your girls are doing well too. Glad you’re feeling better.

Day 41 from RR

I have been letting them run with a slight bend to the stalk to expose more bud sights. They are about 7" tall.

I need some advice. Should I top them again & veg for a couple more weeks? If yes, how many tops per plant? Can it handle 3 or 4 if I let it recover for a week or 2?

Should I trim some of the fans to direct all attention to the bud sites?

Or

Should I veg now & train as it stretches?

Morning Gramps! No it wasn't fun. One time I spent 5 days in a spooky hospital wing that was closed (except for me) with a blocked kidney. I had a bag of Demerol in my arm that was swapped out every 3 1/2 hours. By 3 hours, I was crawling around my bed needing more. I was so high for so long that I swore that the night shift nurse (a really nice Haitian lady actually) was a Voodoo Queen.

I’ve continued to top a week after the flip before. Top them as much as you want. I’m not an LST guy, but I figure that’s what the net is for. In DWC they normally recover from a topping fairly rapidly. I would top them, defoliate the bigger fans, give her a week and see what’s happening. They will love it.

They sure bushed out nicely. Looking good bud.

Another attack vote! :clap:

Air is not a problem although I have had to play with the in/out to get the temps stable. My light (Mars Epistar 160) heats up the tent quickly with both switches engaged but I only want the exhaust at medium speed. I have a 6" fan outside blowing in through one of the rectangular cutouts & a 6” for circulation inside that makes their leaves quiver. They both have very sturdy stalks btw.

I don't top more than once. I've read that too many toppings(?) Will give you more buds but they are smaller every time you do it. For the record I've never topped more than 2 times so I may be completely full of crap. I'm with the group. Trim them. This is one of the hottest issues in all of potdom... to defoliate or not. I'm all for it, primarily for reason you are talking about. You got a huge fan leaf over a node or two, get rid of it. I would much rather grow branches than big ass leaves

I'm going to veg and finish up moving things around by 7 to 10 days into it or so. I read a lot about both my strains to see what to expect. Rumor has it that they stretch a lot . Since you are gonna SCRoG you will have some adjustability.

I took everybody's advice & dove in with scissors. I defol'd, fimmed a few & topped a few. As of this morning, they had jumped an inch so they obviously liked the trim.

I will post pictures in a day or two.

I trimmed my lower leaves to tiddy up the based of my plants last night. I want a lot of air in and around bottom to let it breath a bit. No chance of a fungus right now... humidity is at 25. I trim early, and whenever a large leaf is lording over a little branch, and i trim the shit out of the inside later making sure no stems are coming from the bottom give that energy to the heavy hitters. I defoliate again just before flower, then they are on there own. It's really not that big of a deal. If youre in veg you'll get all your leaves back in a week anyway.

Day 50 from rr

I thought I should update everyone. Vegetation progresses. There has been slow but solid growth on both plants after my last topping session a week ago (except for the nice shoot I broke off). My scrog apparatus has been lowered & I have continued to lightly defoliate & move leaves around to expose the many bud sights.

Late veg is not the most photographic time for these plants . . .

Things I have learned so far about (my) DWC experience:

  • Get your room environment sorted out before you start. Especially heating and cooling. I transitioned from light house heating into full winter heating & there were problems . . .
  • Get your system running. Water flow. Water filter. Air pumps & lines & air stones. Air flow. Lighting. Check your temperatures at all lighting levels at different times of the day. Do all of this BEFORE you ever pop a bean.
  • In hard water, never assume you can skip a calcium/magnesium supplement because there should be enough of the right minerals in your water. Especially if you use a charcoal filter for chloramines.
  • In hard water, do a quick stab at pH leveling immediately after nuting. Then forget about it for a day while the pH buffers in your nutes make it dance. I have seen a max of 7.4 which equals a 1.6 swing in 12 hours. Do not try to chase it. The theory I have heard is that the pH down is immediately neutralized by the buffers & converted into salts in solution & wasted. Knock it down again after 24 hours and let it go again. Repeat daily.
  • If you have a large res and you are not replacing water daily, your ppms will rise slightly due to concentration, even though they are actually sinking due to plant use. As the roots grow, this rate will increase to a point where you can actually track it meaningfully.
  • Some additives will stain your nice clean DWC. Too bad.

And I am still learning. I figure that I have set my plants back a week or 2 with all of my foolishness. But . . . the Bomb Seeds are troopers. So far, the Berry Bomb strain has been more forgiving with the Ice Bomb more sensitive overall.
