prolly add a little layer of rock in the top bucket as well. not deep. it's ok for roots to get through. gonna get ball rolling in the next two days if mom says ok. we'll put it together if she wants a go at trying.

duh - no idea on total volume now . .. yes. 7 gallon.. could do nicely.

i keep thinking of the old wash tub size for your outdoor hempy. if i had the veg time and climate i'd do a rain barrel outdoor, cut about a third or so off the top.

edit maybe cut one in half and get two planters ...

it would work you if line it with black poly plastic. and provide a decently clean drain hole.
people spend insane amounts on outdoor planters that are the same thing minus a drain hole.

a couple cheap plastic fittings and a drill and i could do it ... :p
 
looks like the container garden idea is a go. going with a self -water design due to the conditions of the outdoor grow area -- yay hempy related !

oh yeah, first thing mom asked was if it would be suitable for some extra cannabis. :cheesygrinsmiley:

ok.. got the design down.. it's gonna be hp or low nute potting soil i think. plan is to use the run off from the flower and veg rooms, and probably mix added mc to supplement. bottom res, with wicking basket extended from the top grow box.

edit : gonna be bigger containers so i'll add a feeding tube to the bottom res... this really would work for outdoor cannabis ! :laughtwo:

i'll take pics. super simple design. worried it may end up a bit wet. will see. nothing ventured...
may grab some loose rock for the res bottom as well - can always tweak the system up a bit after.
