Bluter's Happy Home For Hilarious Hempsters

You meant opposite, but yeah. I top seedlings after 4 nodes and then pretty quickly the new growth comes in with the alternating nodes structure. Maybe it has to do with the topping.

you're looking at a branch not an apical top lol.
once you top you should have two competing apical branches.

Unfortunate but not a total loss hey. From what I've seen, WSE customer service is very good and they do their best to resolve any issues and keep their customers happy. Haven't had any problems myself yet but I'd be confident they'd sort it if I did.

i'm a bit grumpy about it. it's not like it doesn't happen. i'd have caught the hermie and tossed it if i'd been available more. work and some trouble with my guts kinda messed up my availability. because of it i can't really blame them.

the nanners were a bit buried to boot.

Sorry about the sketchy genetics bluter but it's not surprising that @Weed Seeds Express is willing to make it good.

judging by the plants they really live up to the name ... i got loads-o-seed now ... can't use em either ... that's pretty express :p

I've always found their customer service spot-on. And the plants look like they'll do rather nicely for extracts/infusions!

i just realized i have an account there. i'll check see if there's a record of past purchases. it was just a single pack buy, nothing huge.

I'm on the 11th node on two different varieties of seed plants and they are still symmetrical. I'd never heard the 5th node thing

he's looking at the branching after he cut the apical top. i'm not sure he knows what that means.

What does that mean?

I'm not sure what living with someone (even god-forbid toddlers!) has to do with making topicals. There are some great CBD-only varieties out there now, so give it a go!

i'm wondering if he has to try hide from folk in the same living space.

when it comes to toddlers, i've known several folk with kids. by far and away the most successful and least problems have occurred when the adults told their kids straight up what was, in an age appropriate manner.

it's always the ones who try to hide that activity that have issues. the ones that confront it wind up with well adjusted kids with healthy attitudes.

@InTheShed sorry I meant to answer earlier was busy taking care of something. My fiancée and her parents just don’t want the place to reek from decarbing and from my lack of knowledge because I haven’t really looked into it I’d have to decarb it wouldn’t I? Or I could just vape a bunch of it and use the vaped bud.

Some folks do use vaped bud for their infusions, but you need a lot of it because it's already been depleted of some percentage of THC.

But it's easy to decarb when folks are out shopping for an afternoon. It just takes 60-90 minutes!

Good idea I’ll hit you up when I get to that stage ;)

decarbing is not required if infusing oils or glycerin with the instant pot method. it all happens in the process.

Thanks, but yes, I am aware...

the branches after topping will be alternating and not paired. as will any under the point you topped.

And what is it about the topping that switches the nodes into alternating mode? There are plenty of plants with opposite branching that retain that structure on the lower branches after topping as they try to become dominant.

I just topped two plants above the 9th node and all the lowers are symmetical. I thought that the nodes didn't start alternating until the plant was sexually mature regardless of height or topping.
I thought the same thing but Bluter says he's got flowering plants way beyond 9 nodes that are still opposite if I read him correctly. I always thought the alternating nodes thing was the sign of sexual maturity like you did, but maybe we have that wrong.

@bluter do you have experience running time release nutes in hempy? I've been reading up on it and it seems like a huge cost saver. Do you think Geoflora would work in a coco hempy?

Thanks in advance!

i honestly don't know. geo is not available outside the US, and it is a soil or hp media type nute. it doesn't seem to lend itself to coco very well, so i imagine it'd be worse with hempy.

since a lot of the stuff i do is topical and tincture, i figured this run wasn't a total loss. and i could finally invest in some bags and make proper hash
How do you do your tincture? Mine tastes like ever clear and burnt buds ha.

i use an instant pot infusion process now. i normally infuse glycerin because it's delicious.

i make other stuff as well.

Thanks! I'm going to try vg in my magic butter machine

oooh .... i really wouldn't. they're close but not the same. for starters the instant pot does a bit better job for about a hundred bucks less

Personally I'm not one of those who believes that you can really decarb at 160 or 180° in the MB. Might convert some but if you had it tested you might be disappointed.

and that's why. as shed explained mb's don't really hit a good decarb.
pressure also plays a part.
