BK's Indoor Soil Autos

Good stuff BK, put that one in the bank and remember it. Also though consider this - is the upper 1/2 or 3/4 dry? Is it just the bottom where the water is? How is the drainage? And maybe that water is sitting there cuz the roots aren’t to it yet? So maybe the plant and roots are dry and all the water is below? Possibly or no?

Hey Jon! Yes the top is very dry, I can tell the weight is at the bottom. I gave it a little water around the rootball yesterday. I thought it would be dry by now but it's maybe half dry. I feel like I'm in no man's land. She still looks pretty good but not great.

The garden this morning it's looking more like a garden l to r Blueberry Glue, Forbidden Runtz XXL, Red Super Skunk, Strawberry Banana, Mimosa Lemon

BG day 20 just got topped back to 5.5"

20220610_102429[1].jpg

FR day 20 just got topped 6"

20220610_102448[1].jpg

RSS day 33 flower 2, she's 8", she looks like she needs something I don't know what to do. She's got the curled down leaf tips

20220610_102524[1].jpg

SB day 45 flower 18 I love the looks of this plant. I think she's maxed out at 14".

20220610_102636[1].jpg

ML day 75 flower 51 18" She's slowly getting there I fed her yesterday.

20220610_102735[1].jpg

And the baby Cream Cookies is enjoying her first day in the sun :cool:

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Good morning, hope everyone had a great weekend.

Dunno if it's my lights or what but I continue to grow small plants. Maybe it's a coincidence but they all go into flower right after I top them. I top after the 4th node.

Blueberry Glue day 23., flower 2, 6.5". Thought she was off to a great start but I topped her 3 days ago and she went into flower.
20220613_064718[1].jpg

Forbidden Runtz XXL day 23. 7.5" and about to be in flower. Also topped 3 days ago.

20220613_064740[1].jpg

Red Super Skunk day 36 flower 5. 8.5". She didn't flower until about day 30 and is still quite small.

20220613_064750[1].jpg

Strawberry Banana day 48 flower 21. She's maxed out at 14" but hopefully yields close to 2 z's. Still showing cal-mag issues slowly worsening, she got a feeding and calmag 5 days ago. She got the safers, kelp tea and calmag yesterday. I'll keep giving her calmag with every watering.

20220611_141829[1].jpg

Mimosa Lemon day 75 flower 54. She's getting close, this week I think. Sorry for the crappy pics.

2022_06_13_08_04_48_681[1].jpg

I don't want giant plants but not this small.

Maybe it's the lights. If so there's nothing to be done about it I'm not replacing them anytime soo

Genetics? This has been happening across multiple strains and breeders. @Jon's XXL Titan is a monster. Mine doesn't even look like it will hit 20". I'm saying probably not genetics.

Temps are right on point, around 77-81 lights on, low 70's at night. RH 40-75. Usually 60ish. The room is not airtight it's very hard to control the RH.

Nutes? I highly doubt that, the soil gets great reviews. Looks like I'll have to supplement calmag along the way and top dress once a month but that's it.

This leaves one remaining variable and that's watering. The RSS, BG & FR were all transplanted into layered bags, but they were also very wet. It's taking 2-3 weeks for the bags to get light. I'm never doing that again.

I've prepped the bag for the baby Cream Cookies and it's very light and mostly dried out. She'll be going there in a week or so. If she's also small then that only leaves the lights... I guess lol

I want 2.5z plants. I don't think that should be hard to do, but it has been for me.

Cream Cookies day 4 ag.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

I've never grown autos so I can't be of much help.
From what I've seen others post, they can be large but there always seems to be short ruderalis phenos lurking.
Have you grown enough autos to statistically throw out that outcome?

Hi BK, I hope you had a good weekend. Your garden is quite the picture from here. Welcome little Cream Cookies :)

It’s your watering! My two cents. Don’t be so hard on yourself man. Want a bigger one? Try coco. It’s same as soil just ph to 5.8 and keep it wet. Can’t overwater. Plants get huge.

Thanks for stopping in gw! I've grown several big autos but they were all from 420. In my current run of the 10 autos I've grown since then the tallest is the Mimosa Lemon at 18". She's fine but most of them have been more like 12-13". Very strange and smaller than I'm after. Odds are remote that I'd have 10 short plants in a row, but I'm not ruling anything out.

Hi Carmen! I had a great weekend but I'm bummed about these midget plants. Hopefully the CC will lead the way to better results!

Hey Jon! It's hard to blame my watering for the last too, it was the soil prep. I still haven't watered them except to dose them with safers about 10 days ago. I noticed you talking nodes with Emmy, if you've been counting the first leaves you've really been topping after what we consider the 3rd node. I doubt that means anything but I'm not ruling anything out. As for coco it's way different, I'd have to use nutes again and I suck at that. Plus all the watering. So I'll take a hard pass too at least for now!

Forbidden Runtz XXL day 24 flower 1. I think I unintentionally fim'd her she's got 4 tops she's 8"

20220614_134020[1].jpg

Blueberry Glue day 24 flower 3 she's 7" but still growing (slowly lol)

20220614_134010[1].jpg

Red Super Skunk day 37 flower 6, 9" tall. She's not tall but she's starting to get wide, and she's still slowly getting taller. I think she'll be ok.

20220614_134038[1].jpg

Strawberry Banana day 49 flower 42. 14". She feeds daily and today was her 3rd dose of calmag. I'm glad now I haven't defoliated her much, so far just fan leaves are affected and I hope it's under control soon. All of @Jon's SB's went about 70 days so another month or so.

20220614_134052[1].jpg

Mimosa Lemon day 79 flower 55 she's really close.

20220614_134120[1].jpg

And last but not least the Cream Cookies, day 5.

20220614_134103[1].jpg

We got slammed by storms last night. Maybe the worst I've seen in the 50+ years I've been here. Gusts of 60+, and today my yard is covered in walnut branches. Everyone else's yard looks fine go figure, I probably have 100 branches down. Anyhow we lost power here 4-5 times in a half hour period, but then it came back on and stayed. I was amazed. Lots of people around here still don't have power, and it's almost 100 degrees and I'd guess about 80% humidity. Puts my little issues in perspective. Have a great day!

I had a great weekend but I'm bummed about these midget plants.
I hear you but they still youngish aren't they? They still have some time for more growth, don't they? Let's hope there are still some spurts of growth to come :green_heart:
she's got 4 tops
how nice :)
We got slammed by storms last night. Maybe the worst I've seen in the 50+ years I've been here.
Climate events are becoming severe. A couple of days ago we had a massive fire and immediately followed by serious floods. Hectic!

Morning! Life's been hectic here so I haven't had time to post much.

I chopped the Mimosa Lemon today day 82 flower 58. We checked the trichs there's a lot of amber forgot to take a pic. Honestly a test bud the other day wasn't that great but it was from the bottom of the plant, I'll give a full report in a few days. She's short but the buds are fat, I'm hoping/guessing 2z's. I had no way to do darkness. It's about 60% RH and low 70's in the room.

20220617_101138[1].jpg

Strawberry Banana day 52 flower 25. Looking back a week it's hard to imaging how quickly she's turned to shit. She's been getting calmag daily but the condition gets worse every day. Gives me a headache.

A week ago:

Today:

20220617_101100[1].jpg

She's got 2.5 - 3 weeks left.

Blueberry Glue day 27, flower 6, height 7 - 7.5" She hasn't stretched more than an inch.

20220617_101041[1].jpg

Forbidden Runtz XXL day 27 flower 4 height 9.5" she has 4 tops and her genetics are showing through as she's large by my recent standards.

20220617_101117[1].jpg

Red Super Skunk day 40 flower 9 height 9.5". She's slowly growing. She'll be small but she's a nice looking plant.

20220617_101049[1].jpg

Lastly the Cream Cookies day 8. She's been spending some time outdoors. It's so humid out it clouds up early.

All I see is sweetness except the SB.
???

I always top at least above four, often five, NOT counting the cotys or first leaves.

All look great except the Strawberry Banana who looks very sad. Sorry BK, that sucks but the others really look good.

Morning @Jon! I'm not sure about sweetness lol but not a disaster so far. I took the crisped leaves from the SB just now, yesterday she got bloom nutes along with CM, kelp tea and safers for the gnats. She's showing signs in general of being hungry. I hope I have this under control because the buds are nice and big and smell simply amazing. All these problems, while frustrating, are teaching me a lot. I'll never use a 3 gal bag again, I'll never use a saturated medium when I transplant again, and I'll begin supplementing calmag as soon as they go into flower. The Cream Cookies will be the first plant where I'm following all these rules. I'm also trying to really tighten up the watering. Thanks for your help and support my friend!

Hey Carmen thank you! She looks better today because I removed the crispy leaves. It will make it much easier to see what's happening going forward.

SB day 54 flower 27, about 2 weeks to go. If you ignore the foliage she looks great lol

20220619_083242[1].jpg

20220619_083225[1].jpg

Red Super Skunk day 42 flower 11 height 9.5". Currently my least happy looking plant, she hasn't been praying all grow. She's also probably close to her full height, but she is still growing. Gave her a full watering yesterday along with calmag and safers. I'm now tucking instead of clipping as much as I can.

20220619_083209[1].jpg

Blueberry Glue day 29 flower 8, 7" tall. Except for growing buds this has looked like an artificial plant for over a week. She's praying. Her color looks great. She's doing everything except growing lol. I didn't think I could grow a plant smaller than the first Cream Cookies but this one might just do it, no way she'll get to 11". So strange. She also got a full watering plus CM & Safers.

20220619_083202[1].jpg

Forbidden Runtz XXL day 29 flower 6, height 11". If they can all be this size I'll be happy. She looks great and keeps getting bigger. She's no Titan but I'm no @Jon lol. She also got a full watering plus CM and Safers yesterday. And did I mention she's got 4 tops :yahoo:

20220619_083313[1].jpg

Cream Cookies day 10, she's got lots of roots and yesterday got her first full day in the sun. She's trying to hide amongst the african daisies. She'll be ready to transplant soon into her prepped but not wet final home.

20220619_091132[1].jpg

I'm very pleased with the Safers, the gnat problem seems to be totally under control I'm hardly seeing any. And the Mimosa Lemon has been hanging for 2 full days in very good drying conditions, it's going nice and slow.

I'm going to start something else soon, either a Cinderella Jack, Red Banana Berry XXL or Watermelon Wedding Cake XXL. The quest goes on. Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

It's good to hear that the safers is working for the gnats. I do see that the Red Super Skunk has her claws out :( On the whole though, you've managed the issues well it would appear. You've got quite a lot going on there BK. The Strawberry Banana looks happier sans crispy leaves. 4 Tops on the FR!!! yes, very happy for you :)

You’re doing real well man, keep it up. That SB is gonna be great, just worry about the quality not the yield. So why not up put onto a wet pot? You’re just going to wet it completely anyway as soon as you up pot, so what’s the difference in your mind?

Morning Jon! First off thanks for recommending the Mimosa Lemon, I trimmed it up yesterday and got 85g's wet. I'm guesstimating 2z's or a little more of some kick-ass weed :yahoo: It's my favorite kind of high, plenty of energy but also that awesome sense of disorientation that I love. Like I get up to do something and then have no idea what I wanted to do. Of course that happens without me being high these days lol

She was in a 5 gal bag and I must say the root ball was ok but still not what I think I can do.

With that out of the way, you're confusing me. I was just about to (and still will) re-read all your watering steps after transplant that you're doing for Carmen. I didn't think you wet it completely right away. Those saturated pots I prepped took 2+ weeks to dry out. I'm gonna read it again now because the Cream Cookies is 12 days old, the cup is full of roots and she's ready for her final home.

The SB is starting to slow down now, I figure about 2 more weeks. Her buds looks and smell great. The rest of her.... she'll make it lol.

Thanks for checking in!

Hi BK - sorry not trying to confuse you. You can do it either way, I was just asking. As long as the root itself is wet you’re fine. If you like it better just watering a little and not the whole medium do it that way. They both work!

Hey Jon! I re-read your posts to Carmen, it's a bit hard to follow because there's so much in-between. I thought the plan was to transplant and just water in the moat around the root ball for a while? I don't see where you saturate the pot first, am I missing something?

Oh I see the confusion now, sorry. Yeah I did the best I can for @Carmen Ray but I have a ton going on and it’s tough to do everything. I thought I gave you the general idea though, and it’s as you describe. Water the edge with the occasional down the middle until transplant. When the plant has two sets of leaves (true leaves) you start watering to runoff but still down the edges. At transplant you put it in the new pot and wet the medium to meld the two dirts together where the roots are.

Is that clearer?

Edit - some like to soak the medium before transplant, some do it at the time. That’s all. Then you continue the same watering process!

Ok that sounds good Jon. Supposed to hit 100 here today, I'd like to get her in her proper home and commence with letting her feed. While I've got your attention how about my newest problem with the Red Super Skunk. She's only been getting what's in the soil plus a little calmag and kelp tea. I've looked at the sick plants guide but can't be sure, I've never had this before. Only 2 leaves are currently affected.

Any thoughts from you or @Bill284 or @Emilya or @InTheShed or @Azimuth or anyone else are much appreciated!

Very dark green, probably indicating too much N. Too much N can lockout Potassium, and that is what that single leaf symptom seems to be pointing to. This is simply a warning... one leaf does not indicate an actually deficiency or lockout.

Hey @BubbaKush909 :ciao: hope you are well my friend.
Long time no chat.;)
Guess that's probably a good thing.
As @Emilya :ciao: has diagnosed your question, would a flush of the pot help reduce excessive N. in the soil ?
Then possibly give something like recharge or a really good microbial tea to assist the roots in feeding her as required as a posed to what is the most prevalent.
Genuine question for you Em?
As my soil expertise comes mostly from reading you trouble shoot for others.:thanks:
I do soil in the summer but run mostly coco as I'm sure you know.
Ok I just smoked a huge bowl and I'm rambling.:rofl::rofl:
Thanks Em.

Stay safe
