have you ever tried to use sand paper to loosen up the shell a bit? it has never ever failed,(5 times maybe) failed to get the thing to open.

very fine sand paper, and dry the seed off, and carefully polish the edge of the end that cracks.

tricky, but can save a hard nut to crack,, ha

I did shoot a tap root before going in soil.
I can't do any more, but wait and see.

Have not had any success yet but I think my seeds are all just so darn old. I have seen some small tap roots just barely there. But I think that took the last energy the old seed had.
my old seed collection over 35+ years with few new ones since you don't see seeds much

I think the concept is good, but like I said I have not had success with my ancient seed collection. Just tried 8 a few days ago again.

01/23 @ 2200 Not sure about the seed in the dwc or the 2 in the germination dome. So I took 8 seeds from my
coffee can and put them in res water and in the germination dome to soak after 3mins in sanding tube. With 20
drops of h2o2, Added 5 drops of fulvic acid. 4oz Cup is 80% full of res water.

I think my germination, getting to seedling level is a real matter of "be patient" ;) lol

01/24 @ 0130 4 of the seeds have already sank so i moved them from the soak to the paper towel

in the end 5-6 of the 8 showed tiny tap roots then just did not do anything more.

This is all part of my longer story ;) Since the can used to be almost full ;) Been a long several years of trying on and off.
