Birdie's Return To Life

I’m just gonna plant it sideways and let the seed decide... j/k, this is interesting. I’ve been just planting them in a peat pellet, but have been having helmet issues as of late. Following closely to see what happens :nomo::popcorn::nomo::popcorn:

That was for @MochaBud , I should have quoted him.
I said/asked that wrong, my bad, was asking if it really makes a difference, I'm here to learn brother, not argue...my days are wasted if I learn nothing new, that goes for anything, not just growing :reading420magazine: :nomo:
EDIT: I'm a geek with an inquiring mind...:ciao:

lol, I never thought you were arguing, my mind doesn't go that deep into others minds :)

When I said it cant hurt, it was more of a There's no harm in doing so, and even if it doesn't work, it didn't hurt anything. Sorry for not being clearer. I do that sometimes

I guess I got side tracked :rollit::smokin2::passitleft:came over to walk through @AngryBird s journal and saw that post about the beans and...................squirrel............:rofl:
But hey birdie, glad everything is looking up :circle-of-love: sending good vibes :yahoo: and looking forward to see the girls growing up :popcorn:

Hello

been lurking but the helmet head and seed direction is something I have just been through
so I thought I would pass on my 2 cents ;)

This is my first grow in 35+ years, first hydro ever ;)

But have just germinated 3 cks blueberry's and 2 of the 3 were helmet heads ;)
I call them blue b1, blue b2 and blue b3

well blue b1 was ok

blue b3 was a helmet head but I used the water droplets and tooth picks to free it. (think it was angry bird that mentioned that ;)

It was blue b2 that was the problem helmet head

both blue b2 and blue b3 were the membrane thing! above is a picture of blue b2
here is blue b2 after I removed the membrane

And here is blue b2 today ;)

For me the morel of the story is (from my point of view)
- I placed the germinated seeds in the slit rapid rooter to close to the top
1/8-1/4", from now on it will be 3/8"-1/2" closer to 1/2"
- I put the seed in the rr(rapid rooter) with the tap root pointing down. I think that maybe wrong
will try it in the future with the tap root up and maybe deeper based on how long the tap root is.
- I think the part about the seed turning helping to get the seed cover off maybe a good observation.

So that is my 2 cents on my first post.
420 is a fun place btw ;)

My feeling is, and I'm not stating you do this, is that most new growers may apply water too heavily when the seed with tap are planted.
Droplets are best, in my opinon, away from where the seed is placed, letting the water travel towards the seed. If you drop, or pour water over the seed, you most likely will have it turn or float deeper causing issues.
I suppose this changes with different types of starter mediums, so I am referring to those who go straight to soil like myself.
