Bill C-45: Canada's Legalization, The Drama Revs Up

Insurance companies don't HAVE to provide coverage. They can refuse for many reasons. They classify marijuana as a drug, and use that as their reason for refusal.
I understand that but once it legal and not illegal in two months I’m referring too. I know it will be personal choice but they will have to be re visited . If they treat it like they do break in on cars then we’re screwed .

This is my medicine I rely on . If someone steal it there should be consequences for their actions .

Our local police post updates on the day prior and some of what happened and they held 27 people in custody.

One of them was "possession of marihuana". These pigs are still enforcing where I am at apparently!

Even now there are consequences if someone steals your meds. Although insurance does not cover you, the police will charge them with theft and possesion.

News from Ontario...
Legal age will be 19
Government will be sole distributor of legal cannabis
No brick and mortar store until sometime after March 2019
Government will sell on-line starting 17 Oct 2018
Federal laws for growing your own, with exception that you must be 19

thanks @Old Salt , i thought dougie ford was all for private retailers... Guess not.... But I can grow my own. That's what counts.
He is. The brick and mortars will be privately owned. If they get caught selling to an under aged person, even once, their license to sell will be permanently yanked.

ah I read that wrong. Government is sole distributor, private retailers, gotcha....

I wonder who the growers' are... And what its going to do for all the people who are currently licensed/growing.... I drive past a grow on my way to/from work, wondering if they'll continue or be shutting down

Those with a grow license for medicinal purposes won't be affected.

I don't think LPs will shut down any time soon. The market is there, but I think current recreational users will stick with their 'guy,' at least until the private retail outlets open next year. I expect law enforcement to start coming down aggressively on those distributing illegal product, including dispensaries in the very near future. The reason is that tax dollars are involved.

The Conservatives are delaying cannabis again.

So here in Ontario it will give the Conservatives time to licence their friends to distribute cannabis. And more time for the cops to crack down on the "illegal" dispensaries.

I can't see how this helps our cause. It does kick "legalization" down the road nearer to our next federal election. A creative delay or two in our most populous province and we could enter the next federal election with Ontario with mail order only and Quebec and Manitoba prohibiting home growing.

Despite their claims to the contrary, the conservative politicians in this country aren't cannabis friendly.

The battle about cannabis isn't over.

Legalization still happens in Oct, just no brick and mortar retail, only online.
No matter how this turns out, it's gotta be better than the govt having a monopoly on retail....

Anyone in possession, no matter where they bought it, should be fine, unless police can check purchase records online, which I doubt...

I'm glad Doug did this, although I can't say I like him much...

online sales will work, but id rather be able to see what I'm purchasing instead of just a picture. Probably be alot more people stealing their neighbours mail as well lol

absolutely, but I think private producers should be able to operate as well. In my eyes its like craft breweries vs the beer titans. I'd rather purchase from a local and enjoy a tastier product, than something warehouse grown and handled.

Craft Cannabis should have its place in the rec market.... But I guess only time will tell what the future has in store for us. I'll be keeping my head down and to myself while the details get hammered out.

Hi All,

CTV in Barrie is reporting that Municipalities will be able to veto brick and mortar retail outlets.

Ontario to sell pot online in fall, in private stores next year

This is what the Finance Minister said...

Finance Minister Vic Fedeli said municipalities can opt out of hosting pot shops within their boundaries and stressed that the government will consult with them before moving forward with cannabis in private retail stores next spring.

I also read that Loblaw is trying to get into cannabis retail in Alberta.

Peace. :peace:

It looks like the Craft Growers are going to get screwed in Alberta. I believe that they will have to sell to the Alberta Cannabis Board (or whatever it is called) and it will be pooled.

My understanding is that if you are a craft grower you will have to sell to the Province and hope that you get some back for your brick and mortar shop.

Trudeau and his cop friends sure have f*cked-up a good thing.

Peace.

I've been waiting over 40 years for it to be legalized, even another 10 years for things to settle down, and the general public to accept it, isn't gonna kill me, although something else might...

I agree with Pjs420, head down, keep to myself...

Eventually I expect it will be like craft brewers and distillers in the US...

The federal rules are pretty general. The provinces are screwing it up IMO.

And there is a municipal layer of rules to come.
