Bill C-45: Canada's Legalization, The Drama Revs Up

same thing in Ontario. Two municipalities have already said 'no' to retail stores.... You dont get rid of the black market by saying yes in some areas, no in others. Why drive for an hour if buddy down the street has some for ya? Same with online... Who's gonna wait a week for Canada post to get there if buddy can help ya out this afternoon.

The 78 strains bought for Nova Scotia will be sold in five formats: flower, seeds, pre-rolls, oil and gel caps.

The NSLC says it will carry 282 cannabis products and 21 accessories.

They're here already in Halifax. Can you say total clusterduck?

I live right next door to one of the NSLC that is selling cannabis, i talked to some of the staff there and they told me that most of them have no idea about weed at all, and are forced to sell it or find a new job, lol.

How are they going to "consult" with people so they can make an "informed choice" if they only have a tiny amount of training and aren't informed themselves?

They won't be hiring any specially trained employees to handle cannabis sales, and those that already work there will be doing both booze and cannabis sales.

This is alarming since it says right on the NSLC website:

PURCHASES TAKE TIME

"Cannabis products are selected and paid for at the counter in the cannabis section of the store only. Consultation is required to make an informed choice. As a result, these purchases take longer than beverage alcohol purchases."

It also says:
"We will initially sell dried and fresh cannabis, cannabis oil and cannabis accessories. Edibles will not be sold until the federal government chooses to make them legal. "

Fresh cannabis? What, like leaves or buds that still need to be dried and cured?
Do they mean clones?? LOL

it's kinda par for the course. all the shops here are private, most of the license holders here admit to either knowing nothing about cannabis, or to being involved in active prohibition in the past. there are zero that will admit to ever having tried it.

they busted and charged all of them here. one got raided by an armed street gang, the shop owner reported it and went to jail for his trouble along with all the staff. the cops caught some of the bangers, but the shop workers got charged right along with them.

our gov't here is intent on creating a tightly controlled monopoly for their entrepreneur class buddies. we are also seeing medical grow licenses not being renewed or outright revoked with no warning or explanation. a number of doctors who prescribed have left the province in frustration. pretty sure sask is one of the worst jurisdictions for the legal roll out.

only one med grower has been charged locally as far as i know. unfortunately he was a hydro shop owner and local information guru. they stopped his grow and shut the business for good measure. he was not dispensing.

another local source and shop owner was actually hired by the gov't to set a legal medical grow up for research as a consultant, and is now fighting charges for his trouble.

bottom line is don't ever talk to, or help the gov't if they come knocking.

everyone here is operating as if it were the same as illegal. keep your head down and go about your business the same as before.

The military has released its cannabis policies. It will be banned:
- while deployed to an international operation, except for a period of authorized leave
- in any vessel, vehicle and aircraft under the military’s authority
- 24-hour for members operating or handling loaded firearms or explosives, performing emergency response duty, and loading or maintaining military aircraft
- 28 days to members serving on Canadian submarines, crew members in military aircraft, and drone operators
- eight hours before going on duty

Well, tomorrow is the big day, lol.

Nova Scotia Liquor commission clearly has no idea what they are saying or doing, they say that they will be selling "dried cannabis and fresh cannabis" (whatever the heck fresh cannabis is, trimmed leaves? lol) and also, on the NSLC webpage they say they will be selling oil and seeds as well.

Today on CBC news it says the following:

What kind of cannabis can you buy?

The Nova Scotia Liquor Corp. currently has 52 strains of cannabis in its inventory.
Pre-rolled joints and loose-leaf cannabis will be for sale, and all of it will come pre-packed in a plastic container and will be handed to customers in a sealed bag since federal law dictates that customers cannot touch the product.
The NSLC said it plans to sell seeds and cannabis oil at a later date.

Guess they aren't gonna sell seeds afterall so you can immediately (and supposedly legally) start growing your own 4 plants, as they say the only legal seeds are the ones you buy from NSLC.

Also looks like alot of medical patients will still be going to the dispensary to get their oil as apparently the NSLC won't be supplying that yet either, although I see oils on the New Brunswick webpage that just got up and running yesterday.

Also, WTF is loose-leaf cannabis? Don't they even know what a BUD is? Who smokes leaves these days....hahaha.

That's not the worst of it...

The Halifax Regional Municipality has lumped cannabis with tobacco as far as where you are allowed to smoke. They also banned smoking tobacco or cannabis, and vaping on any city property, except for designated sites. You can't do any of this on streets, sidewalks, parks, parking lots, or any other area owned or controlled by the city. The question begs to be asked, can I smoke tobacco or vape in my car on city streets? Yesterday, when the new laws came into effect, there was only one site where it was permitted. As of now, there are 34 of these sites. There are areas, even in the densely populated city core where you have to literally walk miles to get to a site where it is permitted. Smoke break? Forget it!

A large number of rental housing has banned smoking cannabis in your unit. You can buy, and possess, but you are not allowed to smoke it.
