That's happened to me 3 times since last night, lol.

Great update BID!
Crazy about the Roots organic Coco being such, well, sh**!
Hopefully you just got a bad bag, and your store will refund ya.
Been using Botanicare, and GH Coco for a while now, and it's as clean as can be, every time.

And wow, gotta give it up for those beautiful GDP's and OG's!
Nice work buddy.

it was a block i got from s1lingblade to test,he was having problems with it so i agreed to test some, im not out anything, he needs to contact his source and raise cain, i use gh cocotek and its perfect right out of the bag just hydrate with what you like,no rinse needed i ran distilled water thru it and ppms were 2 ,,tried that with the roots and the ppms were 500 on the first rinse! i will never consider that product again, fortunatly i have 3 new blocks of cocotek, and a bale of sunshine mix #4, and also a bag of amazon forrest soil,,im good for a while:thumb:

Cocotek is what I got. I'll be starting to try it out when I take the clones. Weird as it sounds, I like the fact it looks more like "dirt" than Hydroton, lol.

it is good and bad that it "looks" like soil, good beause it feels good looks good, easy to work with and so much cleaner to work with than soil, holds 8-9 times its weight in liquid, and keeps massive amounts of air in the rootzone, mistakes are easy to rinse out, the bad is sometimes ppl think they can feed it like soil, it needs to stay evenly moist daily watering till 10% runoff is best, some say they like to let it dryout but im sticking to my guns on keeping it moist, when you let it dry it causes the ph to go crazy because its a passive hydro its like letting your res empty the nutes rise and fry your plants, letting it dry is "soil" thinking, also by adding water daily you actually draw more o2 into the rootzone than not, we had this debate in my coco thread in my sig, runewolf you should read that thread its full of info on growing with coco, another aspect of coco i love is that i can support a healthy microherd therefore organics can be used, and even high brix (my latest experiment) my other experiment atm is yeild of plastic vs cloth pots of equal size the idea is does root circiling force larger buds equaling greater total yeild because smartpots encourage more fine feeder roots and less of the thick ropey type,,so i am testing it 3 times 1st test was sativa dominate blue dream in 3 gal pots identical clones trained & fed the same, the plastic pot yeilded 1 oz more, next is gdp 100%indica in 3 gal pots and is in progress next will be a 50/50 hybrid strain undetermined im thinking chemdawg or blueberry headband

Re: BID 5.1 Digital Dual JDL 600s - 4x4 - Blue Planet Nutrients - Organic Coco Perpet

I have your coco thread and am working through it as time permits. I will be interested in trying to get some mycos running in it, but that will have to wait a month or two unless I find a real good price lol. I like the passive hydro and will be sure not to let it overdry. I will be starting with using it for Hempy's, so I always flush when I water, it's the easiest way to know you've got enough water in there to start with :)

It will be interesting to see the overall yeild results between the cloth and plastic growbags/pots. I was debating using some of the cloth ones down the road, both mmj and for some outside gardening, but the plastic ones are a lot cheaper, so these results definitely have my attention.

BID, since coco is a soiless, inert and PH neutral (in theory, lol) medium, it would be possible to replace hydroton, pearlite, etc. in other hydro systems with this in the netpots as well, wouldn't it? I'm just curious here beause I'll be setting up my veggies in the other room soon and some will be dwc but I was wondering if I could swap the hydroton for coco/pearlite or straight coco, or if it would eventually fall through the net and make the res crappy. Any opinion or know anyone who's tried it? As soon as harvest is done the Em Garden in my closet goes to veggies and there's another one still in the box that will be going that way too, hence the question.

As always, thanks for all the info BID. I love your journals and all the help.

well if i were to run coco in a hydro setup i would get the chunky coco and some of those paint strainer bags from a painters store the one i have would fit in a 5 gal bucket & have an elastic band at the top, im not sure if roots would be able to penetrate the mesh perhaps they have larger mesh, coco is almost inert but it will hold some calcium,so running enough calmag would be important my first mini top feed (coffee can&yogurt cup &mini sub pump) its in my first journal i used coco & it worked , if you were to screen the coco so the very fine particles are out would prob work, you could fill the netpots and run water thru till no more coco comes out might work, but i think your best bet would be the chunky coco sometimes called mulch, hope that helps:high-five:

Re: BID 5.1 Digital Dual JDL 600s - 4x4 - Blue Planet Nutrients - Organic Coco Perpet

I have 2 bricks of coco mulch from the general store, yes I said general store, lol. I haven't expanded it yet, I opened one brick and realized is was corser than I wanted so figured I'd save it for actual mulch, but now I think I might want to wash some and see how it works in netcups... I'll go with Hydroton in the EmGarden if I have to, but it means waiting... I put a tomato and pepper in 1 gal hempys with coco/pearlite last night.

I'll roll through your old journals when I can, I don't remember the netcup you used, but I do remember the small DWC, wasn't it a coffee can or something? I used milk jugs for the hempys last night, figured it would be a fun experiment and if it works, more tomatos and peppers, nom nom :)

Quote for Today:
"The amount of money and of legal energy being given to prosecute hundreds of thousands of Americans who are caught with a few ounces of marijuana in their jeans simply makes no sense - the kindest way to put it. A sterner way to put it is that it is an outrage, an imposition on basic civil liberties and on the reasonable expenditure of social energy."

Sorry guys I have not been keeping up with this school has been taking up most of my time along with the job hunt and just so you know it is going well I have another interview tomorrow.

Re: BID 5.1 Digital Dual JDL 600s - 4x4 - Blue Planet Nutrients - Organic Coco Perpet

Thanks for the pics BID... yeah, folgers, that's the one I was thinking of. I forgot you used a yogurt cup for the netbowl though. I was thinking of using my left over yogurt cups for holding rapid rooters for cloning, never thought about using them for netpots though, hmmm.... * wanders off to think *

p.s. see, I did read the old journals, just don't always remember everything I read until I apply it, which is why every time I learned a 3rd or 4th programming language, I forgot the ones I used least ;)
