so i tested out a 5k block of roots organic coco aurora brand and i gotta share my findings and opinion i will go do a full review later, but its the worst dirtiest coco i have ever seen it 1 block i found several foreign objects a ring off a pop bottle, countless rocks, straw, non coco twigs and it was full of sand heres a couple pics of what i got from just 1 tray (my tray is one of those self sifting cat boxes with 2 reg and 1 sifting tray and a snap on scatter guard ) keep in mind this is just a small bit of the block i would break off some chuncks put them in the tray and hydrate i would fill the pan up ad stir thoroughly then lift off the strainer pan and slowly pour off the water and so forth i noticed there was something tan it the bottom and here ya go a butt load of sand
i washed pan after pan with this result, i decided to do a crude test and taste it for salt and as i suspected it was quite salty!!
this is outrageous!! and the packaging out and out lies here i'll show you what im talking about
as you can see its bull all the way! and slingblade should be pissed and demand a refund he is where i got this block to test
as i understand it he has quite a few blocks
and had some issues when he used it i can see why its full of salt and trash!!
bottom line ..can you use it? sure BUT!!! be prepared to put in some time cleaning it up and picking out the trash rocks and salt, or your gonnakill plants using it right out of the bag hydrated,
im growing some great plants in this stuff but i never use coco without flushing, but this stuff took far more time at least quadruple any other coco i have tried, i will stick to my coco tek from gh never seen any sand whatsoever
