Babygirl’s Sour Livers DWC Hydro Grow Journal, November 2021

Happy Thanksgiving, to you and the family, babygirl!

Just hanging out we all got the colds witch

Today and tomorrow are going to be very busy days for me as I am hosting 15 family members for the big day tomorrow.

Since I have a lot of prep-work to do today, I wanted to make sure to take a moment and thank ALL of my friends here on the boards for your help, advise, suggestions, and laughs (not to mention the shoulders I’ve already cried on over my seeds and seedlings). You guys are some of the most awesome individuals I have had the pleasure getting to know!

I wish you all a happy, safe, and blessed Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Just a damn lovely post. Enjoy the family girl.

Thanks everyone - had a GREAT day. It was so funny because many of us expected it to be very tense and it turned out that everyone had a real blast today. Mainly cuz I found out my SON had sime smoke with him (and he got all of us in a REALLY good mood while dinner was cooking!), my tent was a hit with not only my son and daughter, but with JD, my mom, niece, and nephew and we just had a blast. Hubby said, “Well OF COURSE everyone was having a good time - you were ALL wrecked!” (Except him, mom, and my sis). Even heard twice from two different folks “I think this has been the most awesome Thanksgiving I can remember!”

Food was a phenomenal success, company was great, lots of great memories made today!

Question! Think she’s ready to be topped today? She’s almost 12” across and right around 4” tall and on Day 10 (5th set of leaves showing in the height photo)

She’s also getting her res change today and I’m bumping it up to week 1 veg strength nutes (looks a bit light, not nice dark green)
I'll go first....

It's an auto, right? So yeah, you do want to top asap. However - you also seemingly accurately note that she needs more feed. For future reference, both the Prescription Blend guys and the GeoFlora guys told me that the nute schedules are designed to begin week 1 when you have your first TWO sets of leaves. Ie, you could have, if you had chosen to, begun a bit earlier. That might be a good idea in the future.

That said, she's only on day 10 and that fourth node is barely even out enough to cut. You have time yet. If it were me, I would wait til you get her fed properly and back to color. Shouldn't take more than three or four days I would think. Then you will likely have the fifth node out. That's when I personally would top her. That ALSO said, many people like to do it nowish, as you show. Welcome to the land of judgement calls!!!!

I'll tell you this - if I was going to go extreme for an auto and top using Uncle Ben's method, which I have done before, I would probably do it now. That reduces the plant by a lot and it needs more time to develop or you end up with a tiny plant. Generally speaking I won't do that to autos for that exact reason. But if you wanted to be extreme.....Lol.

That's my two cents!

Ok - that makes sense to wait; give her a chance to absorb and react to new feeding as well as a chance to get that 5th set of leaves fully out. (I was told it was a “seedling” if it had 5 nodes or less, but I think I was told wrong - I dont think she’s been a “seedling” for the last week *lol*)

Yup. My understanding at least is that "seedling" ends when the first two sets of true leaves are out. At least as it applies to feed charts.

Want to mention that @Mars Hydro has asked me to write a grow journal for them in exchange for them sponsoring me with an FC3000! Its gonna be a dang tight fit in my tent, but I’ll make it work! So, when that gets here, I will have this journal closed out and will start a clean journal for my awesome homies at @Mars Hydro ! Thank you folks for the opportunity - I’m stoked!

I'd give her a few more days, then consider topping. Generally somewhere between day 15 and 21ish.

Here's a handy read for Autos and defoliation, but also speaks on topping.

Thanks @Rexer@Jon did point out that she’s not really 20 days old - more like 10. And since I upped her to full strength nutes I do think it's best to see how she handles that before I put her under too much stress too soon.

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and make it through your hectic day! Squeeze some rest time in after all that Turkey ;)
Yup - today has been a “not do a damned thing” kinda day (except the rea change for Liv that is!)

You know we already spoke on this, but super stoked for you and your sponsorship with @Mars Hydro ! Another one for Team Mars!

Side note:
I'd also wait to top at only about 5 inches in height...
