Babygirl’s Sour Livers DWC Hydro Grow Journal, November 2021

You know we already spoke on this, but super stoked for you and your sponsorship with @Mars Hydro ! Another one for Team Mars!

Side note:
I'd also wait to top at only about 5 inches in height...
I’m looking forward to seeing what Liv does under such a beauty of a light! Thank you @Mars Hydro ! Cant wait!

And yeah, I’m a gonna wait to top Live - and I’m still debating between topping and fimming.
Ur goin to love that light !!! N I’ll wait a bit to top her
see above ;). YUP!

:nervous-guy:… just hoping she’ll do ok with the full strength nutes … was 550ish ppms - today she got 1300:nervous-guy:

Remember fimming may require some extra support...Just another side thought lol

How soon before I can tell if its too much? 24 hrs? 36 hrs? And would I be looking for yellowish/brown tips on the earlier sets of leaves and just around the edges? Or would they be brown?

If you see burning anywhere on the leaves you know you overshot. Nice thing about hydro is you can fix that in a minute!
Want to mention that @Mars Hydro has asked me to write a grow journal for them in exchange for them sponsoring me with an FC3000! Its gonna be a dang tight fit in my tent, but I’ll make it work! So, when that gets here, I will have this journal closed out and will start a clean journal for my awesome homies at @Mars Hydro ! Thank you folks for the opportunity - I’m stoked!
Congrats on the new light! Rather than close out this one you can just have it renamed to represent the Mars sponsorship in the title.

So how SOON will it be when I would first start seeing signs of trouble ?

Actually, they asked me to start a clean one, and that was recommended to me as well since I have other competing sponsors named here and there in this one, which is fine, no worries.

I'm not a hydro grower, but with only water as your medium it shouldn't take long. I would guess 24 hours but I'd wait for the hydro-folks to come in a more educated answer.
Thats actually about what I was guessing: that it would take no more than 24-48 hours and that if needed I could just dilute it dowm around 30% or so with some pH’d distilled water

2021-11-27 - Day 21

Tent temp: 73F
Tent RH: 34%
Res Temp: 66F
PPM: 1280 … slight drop
pH: 5.4 … slight rise
Water level: slight drop

Liv is doing AMAZING! Yesterday when I measured her, she was 11.5” from left to right … today she’s fricking 14” from side to side! So far, she’s doing good with the major nutrient bump up; no signs of any burnt tips anywhere; color actually seems a slight bit darker green today.

The Bubbly Livers auto and Blueberry auto both now are clearly showing a second set of leaves and roots so they got transplanted into some 16oz solo cups with 50% Fox Farms Ocean Forest and 50% organic potting soil. Watered those around the edges just lightly and will do so a few times more today (will try to avoid any runoff which I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) would be too much water. I made sure to poke holes in the bottom of the solo cup and then stuck that inside od another one with a bit of hydroton between them IN CASE I over water so that it can drain properly. JD can pick those up now and then he’s on his own! :-P!

Looking good, set up sounds good!!

Im really proud of her! Lemi got relegated to compost pile :( Still fighting that dang low humidity in the tent though ***grrr***

Liv is in beast mode! Might be time to flip soon. ;)

In terms of watering sprouts in solo cups, I find it best to tip the cup and and water around the edge. That way the lower soil gets watered but the area around the sprout can stay dryer. It helps prevent damping off.
She is a beast! Hubby hadnt seen her for a couple of days and said, “Holy crap! She’s a heifer!”

No need to flip - she’s an auto and will flip when she’s ready ;)

And yeah - I only watered around the edges of the cup for the mist part and then just a small drizzle around where the old peat puck met the soil.

If I may...that may be a great idea. I have four doggone sponsors in the outdoor grow including the sponsorship from GeoFlora and frankly it gets hard to keep track of, and I'm not sure it's as fair to any one sponsor as maybe it could be. At least I don't have competing sponsors directly, ie, the NextLight 420h is dedicated to the auto grow, the Mars Hydro light is dedicated to the outdoor stuff, etc.... But I wish I had done individual journals for each sponsor-connected part of the grow. Too late now, but for the future I'd do it that way.

Btw - I'll betcha she LOVES full strength nutes. I used to start low just like you did. Then I had a very enlightening conversation with one of your fellow girl growers who knows her stuff - one @Emilya - and after that discussion I changed my approach. It has worked out beyond my wildest expectations. I'll keep you in suspense but I betcha if you ask her she'll make you feel a whole lot better about it.

Yeah - and plus this way its a clean start - this grow didnt start when the journal started - rather it startes SEVEN PAGES in!

Live and learn - right?

I’m still debating between topping and fimming.
If you don't fim quite right, it's a topping, so you can't really go wrong...fimming correctly can be a challenge- I've done it twice, but both times were accidents (topping gone wrong ;))

At 21 days old, she may be ready real soon...about half the autos I've grown started popping pistils at the 3 week mark..)

I’ll say 36 hrs u would be able to tell

Guess I’ll be keeping an eye out for that now too! *lol*

Ok - she’ll be on my radar for another 24 hours … already been 24+ so I’m half way there before I’ll feel better!
