Autos Under A Mars Hydro FC 4800: Soilless & FN Fertilizer, By Farside05

Day 55

It's still a ways off but it's looking like this will end up in a good harvest. The Tropicana Cookies Purple (back row) are showing their cookies lineage. I expect them to be big, hard, fat, colas with some real weight given where they are at this early stage. The @Mars Hydro fan and filter combo are keeping the smells in check, at least until you open the tent to check on them. The FC4800 is keeping things well lit. Edge to edge colas. Not sure why @Expert Seedbank doesn't get more love around here. They have some of the best prices I've seen. Genetics seem solid. I tend to grade a breeder based on their autos since there's no shortcuts. You can't choose to just veg them longer if you have smallish plants.

Brilliant garden. I also find gauging by autos in terms of genetics useful. Although some are just auto specialists and others photo. Humboldt Seed Company is a good example. Their photos are top notch every time, the autos quite hit and miss.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Mrs Farside05 has Covid and has quarantined, or as we say here in the south, corn teened, herself in the Weed Lab (aka the back bedroom). I don't go in there unless it's absolutely necessary.

Sorry to hear that- I hope Mrs. farside has a mild case and gets better real soon...

I hope she feels better soon and access is restored! Did she bring it back from vacation?

She brought back a case of dysentery and Covid. Needless to say, she's not hot on going back to the Dominican Republic anytime soon. Those are the types of souvenirs you can do without.

Got in the lab today since Mrs Farside05 is on the mend. Cleaned up the ladies. Gave them all 1 gallons of plain tap followed by 2 gallons of the 12's. Normally I top out at 10's but these girls seem extra hungry. Could it be the extra lighting from the @Mars Hydro FC4800 that's driving that hunger or just these strains? It will take a few more grows to draw that conclusion.

I found a copy of the picture I wanted to buy in Punta Cana, but couldn't find a way to get it home, on Amazon. I ordered it as further decoration for the lab.

PS - Forgot to add, the Tropicana Cookies Purple is getting a melon/cantaloupe smell to her. Last time I had that smell in the tent was from a specific pheno of OG who's buds turned purple. It's grabbing my attention more each day.

I hope the Bruce Banners fatten up more as they develop. Disappointed on how thin the colas are, but then again, they're sitting next to the TCP's that will likely end up like wine bottles. They are, however, super sticky things to work around.

Why do you think the one hasn't swelled? Genetics?

Most likely just genetic. The breeder probably fudged the expected yield numbers. Like that never happens  Neither of the Bruce Banners have fat colas. Hopefully they're just late bloomers and will swell a lot in their last couple weeks. If the Tropicana Cookies Purple is good smoke I can see doing an entire tent of them. The yield should be very good on them based on what I'm seeing so far. If the Banners are good but don't produce a lot of weight, I'll either always do them with a good yielding strain so I can still have an average harvest, or I'll save them for when inventory is flush.

Who was the breeder? I have two godfather OGs running right now that look and smell amazing with lots of tricks, but they aren't swelling either

The Banner, Tropicana Cookies, and the Blueberry Glues I just started in my other thread are all from Expert Seeds. I don't really blame them. Sometimes it just the difference from strain to strain. My last grows with Nirvana seeds, the Original Glues all rocked with exceptional consistency from plant to plant. Their Zkittlez varies much more. About the only similarity is that they were all smaller. It's kind of a strain/breeder hunt when it comes to autos.

Came home this morning and made FN Fertilizer ™. A gallon of concentrate of each product. I was down to my last quart of each part. Back in April I upgraded some of the salts from cheap stuff I could get at the hardware store to hydroponic grade granules and powders. The new stuff dissolved much easier. I think the hardware store stuff had a plastic type coating on some of the larger prills. I doubt it will make a difference when it comes to plant production, but it does cut down on the time to make concentrate.
