Autoflower Myth Busting Thread

Red,

That is a small space you are working in.

White cardboard (Hobby Lobby) may be your best bet. You can cut it to fit around your plants and remove for watering or just be careful.

An other option would be the black and white sheeting from grow shops or the internet.

Best

I've had great success using project board (Elmers makes the best) as wall covering. Choose the flat side instead of the shiny side, if they come like that. It gives me the sweetest whit reflective surface, surpassing, IMHO, the lovely ultra flat white my closet walls are already painted with. Using the project board allowed me the option to move the "walls" in closer if I wanted. It h loved me easily block out shadow areas off on the sides where nothing would fit and kept the light right where I needed it.

Sue,

Pointing a light meter around a room and not just at the main light source will give you an idea how much fill lighting you are getting from reflective surfaces. You can actually aim or fine tune reflective material (cardboard) by pointing the meter at it from where you want the extra light.

Bulbs
The subject of which bulb to use and when is probably more important with short flower times. Even so, looking at spectrum graphs the better HPS have two distinct bands, blue and red. MH bulbs are reported to be rather inefficient. So, my question would be, is it worth using MH at all if you use good bulbs?

I never know

Hopefully those following my journal won't be upset about seeing these twice.....

These ones were taken earlier today as part of my day 50 update....

I used the screen to LST and the top of this plant is over near the top right of this pic:

And a pic of a bud that isn't the main top :)

beautiful! i had a bubblegum strain that would do that sometimes. i so miss that one.

I agree that the bulbs are inefficent after about 50% of the life of the bulb, and it should be replaced but I believe at least from what I have read that they are great for a vegging plant. After the bulb reaches x amount of hours it needs to be replaced unless you are ok with paying for electricity to run a 1000 watt bulb and only getting 50% of the light of a new bulb. Again just my opinion from what I have read, weather its legit or not idk.

i think that's fairly true with the cheaper bulbs. my sunmasters and hortilux bulbs have definitely produced better crops longer and hold higher PAR longer. i've also been able to run more watts on the circuit since i switched from analog to digital ballasts.. and once again, my bulbs have lasted even longer on the digitals. which reminds me lol. i have a tired HPS to change when i get home. :thanks:

I believe I am running exactly the same bulbs man

i like them .. no matter what anyone says lol. i have a collection too. cheapos of every kind primarily as back ups or for holding things in stasis. when things get serious though, time to break out the good stuff :) 1000w Eye HPS, Eye Super Blue and Sun Master MH. currently all my veg stuff is under an Apollo 600w and 400w MH, but it normally runs on 1000w MH with Harvest Master Ballast which is running the flower room now lol. musical equipment in my playground!

i was responding to someone else own remark, just confirming it. not my fault if there is 25 posts in between now :)

To the right of reply is the reply with quote tab. Proper netiquite would have you use it if you don't wish to look foolish in a post.
