When I was in high school, we used to get weed and shake it in a wire strainer, like from the kitchen, over a shoe box lid, and we'd take all that stuff that shook out and roll it around and get a ball of what we called hash - just like what you show in your picture! I had no idea the stuff we knocked off was called kief. We didn't call it that.

Fast forward to today, and people go on about kief, which I finally figured out was trichomes that get filtered out in their grinders (which I'm not a fan of because like I'd rather that stay on my weed in my bowl than filter out and use later). So, I hear people talk about bubble hash, and full melt hash, and this hash and that hash, and it's all just the same damn thing, filtered off the plant in a different way. it just looks so different in all the pictures because I guess people don't roll it in their hands to make it a ball any more. I thought it was like the oils and completely different like the butane kind is different from the grain alcohol kind lol

I don't understand why there are so many words for the same thing now! I thought all these things were different things!

I have yet to figure out what is wax, which I gather one dabs, but remain clueless as to how exactly. hehe

I do like the idea of using dry ice - I just googled it and watched a YouTube video, but it seemed really dumb to me to shake it out over a table like he did in the video. So much poofed up into the air and was gone. I need a mechanical way to shake this out if I use dry ice.

Dark Devil came out really pretty, purple and frosty. I might get 4oz off her, which is good for that strain.

She has been finished, but I kept her in the room to purple her up by placing her next to the AC for cold air is on her and also fed her by hand with 59-60f degree water. You can also for the last 3 days or so, feed with 5.3 ph water. It helps purple it up.

I am going to try to chop her tonight. She was grown in 100% rockwool on a drip feed three times a day.

Also, you can say mediums like coco, rockwool, perlite, just not brands unless they are sponsored.

Here is the auto Ultimate. She is doing really good. Super bushy.

AH, ok so wax is the same thing as BHO? (and that's the oil you make with lighter fluid and glass tube thing?)

Cheers bud.....hope I'm not tempting you to join the dark side :) A reversed 50mm f/1.8 and some extension tubes should work pretty well for the same kind of shots. The ease of use of the Canon lens isn't such a big deal when you're in a nice dry grow room and the subject isn't moving.

Thanks for that idea , iv'e got a 50mm f1.8 and the 85mm f1.8 , both great lenses , just need to get some tubes :thanks:

Mount the 85mm on the camera and then either hold or tape the 50mm the wrong way round to it. That should get you closer than most macro lenses go and get you some nice trichome shots :)

Start with both lenses at infinity focus and wide open. If you want more in focus it's the reversed lens you need to stop down.

Might be an idea to practice on something less sticky than a bud though. ...crud on the rear element is worse than getting crud on the front element of a lens usually.

Ive been growing for over ten years experienced a lot of strains and so far the best i have smoked and grown is from autoflowers. I love the high, lifts me up like no photo strain can. The best strain i have ever grown and smoked is think different..WOW.. I love her to death, its grows just right every time and produces monster base ball bat colas. I never had a photo compare in harvest weight of a think different, no joke. The second best ive smoked and grown is white dwarf, another good one.

Ive done the dry ice ordeal, its kinda a pain in the azz and wears you out but he is right you can smoke it right after you shake it.
