Ase's Multi-Strain Quadlining In Coco

Ase, brother!! That Tangerine Dream! I get excited every time I see you do an update on her. She is gorgeous, stunning! That right there will be a POTY contender for sure for 2019! Such a tank!

Beautiful work on the DTF as well. She looks great and very similar to mine that I have flowering. Not sure if you have seen it lately....I didn't top it, just let it go naturally. Love how yours is stretching more....gives me an idea what they look like with some training. Here is mine...

Also glad to hear that your friends are enjoying the ATF. I just hit some last night and it was the first time I have smoked some in a while. Man its good weed! Still the best I have found for instant pain relief for my back. I have a new ATF going as well....let it go naturally and way too big. She's over 5 feet tall and I haven't even flipped her yet LOL. I am so screwed!

Great work as usual Ase and I love how well the genetics are growing for you brother!:high-five::passitleft:

If I was you VS I would just cut the top out of the tent when you put her in, will at least save her the time of blowing it out. They look so different all natural and shit.

Ase, I got a Fruity Chronic Juice I think we may quadline. Hoping you may jump in with any pointers.

I can't wait to grow the ATF again and do a real quadline. The DTF is doing awesome and is going to be the best producer of the bunch. I dunno how you are going to keep your ATF in just one tent. It looks like the perfect size to plant outside going into spring and grow a flat out monster. Going to be interesting to see how out of control she gets after she stretches. I think you are in for some craziness. I've yet to grow a plant out naturally. I am just a training junkie and have been since my first grow. Totally natural plants make me squirm a bit.. lol!

Thanks for the kind words and if she finishes strong I am sure I'll throw her in a POTM contest. Can't wait to try out some Stankberry on my next run. Might need something new after that to show off more of your genetics. That is if you still have other stuff and are feeling generous. Thanks again for letting me grow these strains, they've been a lot of fun.

I'll be there! Sounds like you just got the seed popped so I'll start watching in about a week to make sure you are right on track. Fruity Chronic Juice sounds very yummy too.

Day 34 Flower Multi-Strain, Day 7 Flower Tangerine Dream

Really the only difference between last update and this one is that the Tangerine Dream is a week into flower and looks like it's just going into the real stretch phase as of this morning. In 2 weeks she will be all stretched out and I will know what she will finally look like. Light green growth everywhere!

Tangerine Dream

Front shot of the tent.
Side shot of the tent.
Girl Scout Cookies still behind the others a bit in bud development and frost.
Purple Trainwreck smells like most purple strains do. There is a deep dark fruit smell.
Double Berry smells incredible. So fruity (think like fruit juice smell), frosty and dense!
DTF is filling in nicely and has a similar smell to the ATF I grew but with a little earthy smell in the beginning which is the Durban.

How much is that TD drinking right now? I bet a big girl like that gets thirsty. Going to blow the top off of the tent. Always watching in the background.

It starts to get a little runoff at about 2.5 gallons per day. I think she will really start drinking a ton once she stretches.

Ase, any experience doing 24/0 in veg? My tent is getting too cold at lights out and the plants aren’t liking it. I’m thinking 24/0 might be the lesser evil.
Good question. I’m making a new set up in my garage and that seems like an issue I’ll need to deal with too.

I asked over in PW's thread as well and got a few responses. I knew some folks on 420mag have done 24/0 and sure enough Mr. Krip stopped by to say he's had no issues whatsoever with doing it. I decided to forego today's lights out period and go for it.

My vent to the outside is right next to my veg tent and there's definitely cold creeping in, in spite of the outflow of air. Happens when you're -20 celsius regularly as we've been in the last month.

I think my first two grows I ever did were 24/0 in veg. They seemed to do fine. I did 18/6 and they did about the same so I decided not to waste the extra 6 hours of lighting bill. If yours is going to serve the purpose keeping heat going then I'd give it a shot if it's clear it's getting way too cold. Could also do anything inbetween like 20/4 or 22/2 and see if they respond to that as well.

Day 36 Flower Multi-Strain, Day 9 Flower Tangerine Dream

The multi-strain girls are starting to smell out of this world good. I can see they are slowly packing on some weight and I am very happy with how big they are halfway through flower. If they spend the next 5 weeks just packing on weight I should be in for a great harvest with this run of Multi-Strains. I adjusted the fan so it sit on a bucket now so it gets higher and gave them their first feed with some P-K boost today.

I couldn't help but defoliate the Tangerine Dream. I decided last night that none of the ties were doing anything any longer so all the ties are now off and she didn't move one bit. If I do any training for the next couple weeks it will be supercropping branches to try to keep it all even. The really nice part about it not being tied down anymore was that I can move the plant around in a circle and really get to the backside which i struggled with before. I cleaned her up good and she looked a bit sad from it but I bet by tonight she will look really happy again. Gave her a solid transition feed (even NPK) and made sure to get a little runoff so I know it got all the way through. Because of the amount of leaves and lower branches that won't amount to anything that I took off I bet she will be drinking a little less for the next couple days so I'll back off now.

Sideshot with the bottom cleaned up. She should really start stretching fast soon but has already grown 5-6 inches. Maybe my defoliation in the middle of stretch will help tame the beast a little bit. Excited to see what the next couple weeks entails for her.
Canopy looking a bit sad after the defoliation but there was so much stuff trying to get to the canopy I couldn't feel the air coming through anymore. I just felt like it had to be done so I did it!

What do you consider too cold at lights out Dobe?

In veg I like being mid 20s (Celsius) and I got down below 20 with the lights out consistently - 18, 19 degrees. Same with my water when I feed - I leave it to stand in the room, and the basement was getting down to the high teens and so was my water. The plants mostly responded with red / purple in the petioles. Kosher Kush actually took on a wilted look on the oldest leaves in addition to the dark coloured petioles.

In my experience the plants are more tolerant of less than ideal environmental conditions once they’re more established, but in the early days of veg, upsetting the environment is far more noticeable. And some plants are more susceptible than others. I was worried about my Kosher Kush early on. It has responded well so far to the change. I feel like it should bounce back big time in the next few days.

The beast is finally loose :hugs: TD doesn't look like she minded the light defol at all.

That GSC is interesting. Do they normally get that tall?

Yes she is finally free! I don't think it'll matter though, the ties weren't really doing anything at this point. She is way too big and strong.

I've never grown a GSC and I thought it'd be shorter but you never really know with genetics. I've had plants that were labeled "100% Indica" and clearly grow a sativa version of it. They had the same smell and flavor of the the Indica version but the leaf structure and highs were definitely a bit different. I've also had some just flat out grow better than others and if that is the case it'd be a superb plant to clone and grow that out for breeding. GSC is hybrid so you never quite know what to expect with hybrids I've found. The only real way to see if this one is a bit different really is to grow out like 4 of these and if this one was clearly taller then the rest then you can determine if it's consistent or different from the rest but since I grow Multi-Strains all the time I never really know to be honest. I just don't grow multiples of the same strain hardly ever. Maybe when I grow it again (who know when that'll be)

I'm going to guess that feeding it cold water is probably more detrimental than the environment being cooler because the lights are off. If the roots get cold then uptake tends to decrease. I get nervous when the air is cold more so for mold and bud rot then anything. Right now my grow gets down to about 19-20 Celsius at night and about 24-25 Celsius with the lights on.

When I make up a bucket of water I usually have about half left the next day. When I go down I will add a bit of hot water to that to up the temp of the nutes. I know it dilutes it more but that's fine. If I notice the plants look hungry because of the dilution I can always bump the nutrients up. I'd rather do that then having my plants stop absorbing hardly anything at all (locking out) because they don't want a cold feed.
