Ase's Multi-Strain Quadlining In Coco

Hi,new guy here, really liking this quadlining stuff. It seems that I can't send PM's yet so sorry for adding fluff to your journal, but I just wanted to make sure I understand the QL method right (I'm one week into my own grow now):
- wait until the fourth set of true leaves emerge
- clip at the fourth node, i.e clip of the fourth set of leaves
- remove 1st and 2nd sets of leaves
- you are left with the third node and the two new branches that emerge after clipping
- start training the four branches into an x-form keeping them more or less horizontal
- initiate 12/12 at this point? Do I keep on tying them down to horizontal throughout the stretch? Or do I let the stretch growth grow up?

Thanks in advance! Really loving your results! :)

Top of the morning mr.Ase I hope I may share my quads with you please.....

Don’t remove the forth node. Wait until there is enough plant material above the forth node for you to clip/pinch off. Top just above the 4th node. After lowers are removed you will be left with branches at 3rd and 4th nodes which will be trained horizontally to make the quadrant shape like you can see in Smeegol’s pic above.

Hello new guy! I'm glad you like my training style. I've always said no question is a bad question as someone else probably is thinking the same thing.

As Magoo has said, leave the 4th node on and top above it. In the picture below I had already removed the 1st and 2nd node but I circled where they were at. That leaves the 3rd and 4th which will be your mains and then top above the 4th nodes growth.

You shouldn't initiate 12/12 quite yet. Let her grow horizontal until the 4 mains are at the edge of the pot you have them in. That will give the growth that happens some time to catch up that is in the middle. As you tie them down you will notice that every other node has two growths that face really nicely to the sky. Opposite those on every other one they have one that faces up and one that faces towards the soil/coco. I pinch the one that faces towards the soil/coco off because it never catches up enough.

I really don't keep tying them down too much more during stretch. More or less I have them pinned down, let everything fill in and grow vertical a few inches and then flip. I do keep them tied down until stretch is over and I have kept the ties on for almost all of flower as well, but usually just one stretch is over and the plant is hardening is good enough.

Looking good Smeegol. The plants have a nice color to them. Your version of stripping everything off, even on the inside is quite interesting. It's definitely got a Newty flare to it. Should make for four really nice colas though.

Thanks! That really clarified it, and I'm glad I asked because otherwise I would have clipped one node too low...

Good morning mr.Ase thank you kindly, I stripped her like that as she was in a 2lt pot over winter under fluro and when it was sunny out and I was waiting for spring to arrive...
She's in her final home now close to 500lt soil and going to monster crop outside now but I'm only removing the soil facing branch from here on out now on both my quads as they both nice looking and I'm happy with them both.....

Never hurts to ask! I've seen more popular growers on here tell people that it's in their journal somewhere and to find it and if they didn't then ask again. I felt like that's kinda rude and hope to never be that guy! Glad I could help.

I would too Smeegs, those are very even and look strong. Strong arms mean big buds! Going to be fun watching them progress from here.

I had to butch the crap out of my little girls as they got out of control while I was in the hospital. They are small but I have them quad-ed out so lets hope to build some strong arms.

Everything you have going on there looks great. That ATF at some point is going to be a must grow for me.

Once those roots hit the bottom of the new pots the plants are going to explode. It'll seem like they are a bit delayed at first but once that kicks it you won't even notice that this all happened. All of them look solid except maybe the front right one which looks like light really wasn't getting to the 3rd set of nodes. The two arms are long but those others are pretty short so you'll just have to be a little more patient with that one.

The ATF smells great and I contemplated taking them down tomorrow but just gonna give plain water until the end of the month and down they come! I really can't wait to get the other multi-strain girls going. They've been in like gallon pots for 2 months. ATF is something I grew up smoking and just don't see around too much anymore so I'm really excited to have it. Once my 2'x4' tent is freed up from drying the ATFs I will likely start some regular Stankberries so I can find some females much earlier this time (than the ATFs) as well as the gorilla glue which will be for my one plant for a tent grow.

That little guy is the amnesia and It's a slow grower and supposedly smaller than the other hybrids. I will give her some extra tic I'm hopes that she will catch up.

Thanks for taking a look.

Checking out you quads here. I'm moving on to fine tuning my skills now. I'll be starting from the beginning playing catchup! :ciao: Cheers! LadyG

Hmmmm...quad training means something entirely different to my cycling fanatic husband! Think I'll go work on my quads honey! LOL
