Arteekay's Second Grow - Autos & Feminized - Mixed Strains

+reps rtk, everything looks great, & yea that looks like a calcium deficiency, but I could be mistaken

Feb 19 Update. JH, CR, and NEM are 51 days old. DD is 40 days old. CR is 2 days since her flip to 12/12.

CR is on 12/12 15 inches below the Spider x4, Temp is 75 and RH is 69% at the canopy, 73 and 68% at the top where Britney continues to dry. Overnight was 69 and 55%

Temp for JH, NEM and DD peaked at 86 today with RH at 49% during lights on, and 68 and 51% overnight. They are on an 18/6 schedule and are 16-17 inches below a pair of Mars II 900s.

Nothing to do today but weigh and admire. I did some minor defoliation on both JH and NEM, and let JH go from all her bindings. I wanted to redo them, but was too cooked to trust myself so she'll wait until tomorrow afternoon during her night. This weekend will be our first with a photo period plant we can't disturb for 12 hours a day, that'll be different for us.

Because I was good and blazed, I went a little nuts with the pictures today.

You need to get blazed before every post man, we love seeing those pics!

I'm impressed as hell. You guys learn quick and apply that knowledge with a certain artistry. Beautiful plants, every one. :high-five:

Coming from someone who has looked at as many plants as you have, that means a lot! Thanks Sue! :)

:circle-of-love::hugs::circle-of-love:

How did I miss that you were venting one tent into the other?

I know I know! Dozens of subscriptions and hosting likely the most active thread on this forum maybe? :)

That's exactly what I need to do so the filter can serve both tents. Where do you have pictures of this arrangement?

I know I've posted some pics, but I just can't seem to find them right now. Vaped our first samples of Britney (CKS Early Miss) and I'm a bit scattered at the moment. I'll grab some pics for tonight's update.

I have a 6" Ostberg and a Can 33 filter - overkill for my two tents. I'm going to need to mount the fan on the roof of the tent. I know this, but for some reason I'm putting it off until the Budmaster panel comes in and I see how big it really is. But it's only a 2x2' tent and that unit takes up a lot of space. My best bet may be to DIY some filters for the tents. Seems a shame though to have such good machinery on hand and not make use of it, eh?

Once I figure this part out the rest is relatively easy. My first grow I didn't even bother with filtration. Left the closet wide open and let the furnace move the air around. It was ridiculously stress-free and netted me 4.5 oz from two autos. Seven plants in bloom would be more difficult to hide. :laughtwo:

I've looked at the pics, she is a big combo for sure for that size of tent. How much clearance do you have above your tents again? I'm thinking with all that filter you could likely get along just fine with it being a post filter outside the tents rather than inside. It's less efficient to push it out through the carbon outside the tent rather than pull it through inside the tent, but you don't need all the CFMs you could do anyway so a fan controller makes sense to slow it down, which I think would allow all the contact time required for the carbon to filter damned near everything.

We had six autos in our first grow and a 4 inch filter and fan covered it completely, excluding a week or so at the very height of their combined stink noticeable only apparently to me.

I'm glad I was able to post here. For some reason the digital gremlin won't let me post on my own journal. A lesson in humility?

Maybe someone just wanted you to spread some love a little wider today. :)

That is some very sweet looking bud right there! Fantastic girls buddy.

Bob ;)

I have almost three feet clearance above the tents, so I could stand it right up there, enclose it and have runs from both tents and the closet and be just fine I think. I'm planning something that looks like a stack of boxes. It's beginning to appeal to my creative side. :laughtwo:

I forgot to mention that I received word last week that my prize package from the Haze.io Special Ch9 drawing is en route, currently held up in customs.

I was pretty happy to read this:

You'll also get a bunch of Ch9 free seeds with this package. This is how you can identify them:

Vial 1 - CH9 - Black Widow x Blue Lemon Thai - x2 (Fem)
Vial 2 - CH9 - Toxic Blue 33 - x2 (Fem)
Vial 3 - CH9 - Pow 33 - x2 (Fem)

Thank you Haze.io. I'll be getting set up to clone before I pop these seeds, in case there's something very special hidden within. :)

:yahoo:

RTK and the bizz grow more autos? You guys are definitely addicted to the soothing nature of the cannabis botany. I'm in the same boat, I can't stop myself from wanting to expand and upgrade my grow environment to incorporate more plants. Not for profit or volume of smoke to have, but to be able to spend my days tinkering away in the garden and training them. Lol then taking pics and posting them so we can all enjoy it together.

Hope the revolver crop to come out shines your last one. A little more experience and knowledge will show on the result for sure.

RTK and jbizz, keep it green (and a little purple) peace!

I've learned a lot from these girls about training, the timing of it and required foresight to see not what's easiest right now but best three weeks from now. Fascinating stuff.

Our first CKS Revolver was slow right from seed, and then put into a pretty small 1.5 gallon air pot. She was then LST'd the first time when well into flowering and stunted after that. Yet we still got a little over 3 ounces off her. She's become a bit of a favorite around here for now, so I'm hoping I can get 5 or 6 (or more) out of this one.

Plus I just miss her strong odor. I likes my girls pungent it seems! :)

I think it's time rtk and jbiz. It's time for you guys to invest in a small cloner. Young padawans you are ready for the next set of skills and the next evolution of growing. Looking back at your numbers from last grow I can see that the same strains produced very different final weights. This can be due to small differences in environment but is mostly due to plant genotype and the expressed phenotype from those genes.
It's time for you guys to start preserving possible "gems" from the photo seeds you have been growing. High yielding high terp high THC gems. I think it's also time for more photos. I would love if you decided to grow some pineapple fields with me. I am so jazzed about that strain!

Jaybiz's Crown Royale is the first we could clone, but we're just not ready to keep a mother. Jaybiz just planted a vegetable garden too, so it'll likely be after that finishes up a bit before we break our heavy auto addiction.

Really curious about the strains I'm getting from Haze.io and Ch9 seeds. One looks like it might be pretty colorful, and I'm just in love with my DD right now...

I'll add pineapple fields to my list of required beans. Thanks as always big bro!

+reps rtk, everything looks great, & yea that looks like a calcium deficiency, but I could be mistaken

Had the same thing last grow as well, some calcium deficiencies in early flower. I asked Jaybiz to lower us to 5.7 PH for the next while and see if that makes a difference. If I'm reading the charts right Calcium is only available at or under 5.8 in our soilless mix, and it rises through to 6.2-6.4 itself. Figure a bit more of a range might help.

Opinions very welcome. not thinking we're in any real trouble though. More a "for next time" type thing. :)

Everything looking really nice .Another king grow still haven't tried any of there strains ,but the ice trainwreck did look nice they have might shot for some thoughs next time .The dd looks fantastic can't wait to grow mine out .jkh is fantastic strain one of the more potent ive grown that sativa side gots a lock on that one . Keep up great work.

I gotta get an order in to them to collect some of the strains they are discontinuing. Those would be the most interesting to me to keep a mother of, since I couldn't buy any more seeds later.

dang, lookit them purdy colours.

She's getting pretty fat now too, I think we'll do ok off her. Can't wait to smoke my first joint..

You need to get blazed before every post man, we love seeing those pics!

I think I can manage that. Dirty job, someone has to and all right?

Thanks Doc! Always happy to have ya swing though for a checkup.

Now it's my turn. Turn your head and cough, and sorry about my cold hands...

Love the idea of the secondary air chamber from each tent with drying space and the carbon filter there. I'd want to boost the humidity in my dry space though, at least in the winter here it can go to 20% or lower and I'm finding I really like a long, slow dry.

Looking forward to seeing how it'll all work out. And because it's a SweetSue (TM) project, it'll be well photographed and documented. Can't wait!

Feb 20 Update. JH, CR, and NEM are 52 days old. DD is 41 days old. CR is 3 days since her flip to 12/12.

CR is on 12/12 15 inches below the Spider x4, Temp is 74 and RH is 58% at the canopy, 73 and 62% at the top where Britney continues to dry. Overnight was 68.5 and 49%

Temp for JH, NEM and DD peaked at 86 today with RH at 36% during lights on, and 69 and 43% overnight. They are on an 18/6 schedule and are 16-17 inches below a pair of Mars II 900s.

  • NEM and JH were soaked each with 6 liters of full strength DNF Bloom and 75% strength calmag+ at 942ppm and 5.7 PH.

We decided to switch the Jack Herer Autoflower to bloom nutes today, she's likely still stretching but I don't care about size as much as bud quality this time. For our first grow we kept them on grow nutes until they stopped growing at in height at all, because we wanted to maximize yield even at the expense of the quality of the nugs we'd get.

Jaybiz's Crown Royale photoperiod girl is loving being in flower, shooting pistols everywhere. We're a little scared of how big she'll get now that we vegged her for 7 weeks total.

I tied JH back down and moved her around again a bit, not perfect but good enough for this grow. That'll likely be it now for training on her although she'll wear her ties for weeks. She bottomed out on water again and is pretty droopy in her pics. She's already recovered, but we need to be a little more careful with her from now on.

Our new Revolver (R2) was transferred from glass of water to damp paper towel. No sign of a crack or tap yet. I picked the biggest ugliest seed this time, so maybe it won't be as slow as Rev was, taking a full 8 days to germinate to a sprout (three days longer than any other we've germinated).

Not as crazy today on the pics, but think we caught a few good ones.

Family pics:

NEM (9.2 lbs down from 12.2 yesterday, 22.4 lbs after watering):

DD (14.8 lbs, down from 19 yesterday):

JH (7.8 lbs down from 12 yesterday, 21.2 after watering yesterday):

CR (18.4 lbs, down from 20.6 yesterday) still not using very much water, maybe we weren't so far off yesterday:

Out for a bath together:

Back in the tent:

Welcome Wheeler! I'll shoot over to your journal and check it out tonight.

She's a beautiful strain for sure. There's a Dark Devil community grow thread you need to check out and join once ya get one going.

:high-five:

Yes indeed, and I just remembered I haven't posted a picture of my newest. Oh well, tomorrow's picture day. I'll post that one.

I'm hoping this will post. I couldn't post on my own journal and I wanted to answer your question about venting. I'm going to vent right into the living room. I did that in the bedroom and the only issue I had was with heat, but the living room is air conditioned.

Cross your fingers now.

Thanks Doc! Always happy to have ya swing though for a checkup.

Now it's my turn. Turn your head and cough, and sorry about my cold hands...

After clicking "Like" it seemed kinda a creepy thing to do given the circumstances. :cough:

Girls look beautiful. You are like a poster child for how nice a Dark Devil can look. Love the green leaves and violet bud.
:high-five:

One of my favorite parts of the weekend now is when I post my weekly updates to the DD community grow. I don't normally see the week by week view of my kids. :)

I guess I meant more how are you planning on explaining the noise in this room. I'm guessing you're going to be using a fan controller, the cardboard box(es) will block a good deal of the fan noise, but you may want to vent from the fan somewhere less conspicuous?

I think she takes a bad picture, in person she's so vibrant but in pics I think she looks brown or black. I actually like her best under the LEDs without the method seven glasses.

Thanks Doc, I'm hooked, I might have to start another before the end of this grow. :)

Can't remember exactly, but you guys were using a soilless mix yea? If yes, then there's your answer to the calcium deficiency. Most soilless mixes are infamous for this. Calcium gets absorbed into the mix making it unavailable to the plant. This is why most admend their soil by using dolomite lime 1tbsp per gallon of medium or hydrated lime as top dressing every 4-5weeks. Sorry if your not using a soilless mix, its getting harder and harder to keep all the journals straight lol. Hope this was helpful in some way.

+reps on the update. Everything looks awesome

It's actually my goal to get dynasty pineapple fields into a community grow. There are 4 different phenotypes and from what I am reading in grow journals all of them are keepers! There is even a pheno (pheno D I think) that produces basically a big budsickle so sea of green growers would love it. Mom and dad both are half Kali mist so this back tossing of Kali mist genes should make for one hitter quitter type bud. It is also supposed to be one of the smelliest strains and you know how I love my terpenes! Eager to get these seedlings big enough then will cross each pheno with a colloidal silver twister. My plan is to have Fem twister beans of all my good strains so Twisted Orange, Huckleberry Twist, Pineapple Twist, Twisted Tut, and Twister Bomb are in my future!

Thanks Snid! Yep, I hear ya there! It's incredibly rewarding to work with them, learning with each plant and applying it to the next one.

I am looking forward to doing another photo plant after this CR. I've made some critical mistakes along the way and can't wait to apply those lessons. It will be hard to convince me (can't speak for rtk) that it shouldn't be a CKS Purple Kush though. I was on mb5200's thread this morning and that is one sexy plant and supposed to be great smoke too.. all that plus we have the seeds sitting here waiting to get wet
